This chart makes me think the galaxy watch is doing too much averaging in software. That would help explain the delay compared to the H10 and the fact that it misses short HR dips. The good news is that can be resolved in software updates. Then again, your correlation charts indicate why they're using so much software averaging. The GPS data is certainly interesting considering the phones share the same hardware so you would think the only difference might be some layout changes. I wouldn't think you would see this much of it difference in GPS performance. This makes me think the 7 is making some GPS compromises in software to improve battery life. Also the pixel watch 3 is coming out in 3 weeks, you could wait for the review but the 2 is already more accurate than any galaxy watch. Also Polar make good heart tracking devices but their watches are super inaccurate
Yes, but they are so pretty close with their results so you can call them even. The more interesting thing is that how even old Apple Watch is far better than newest Samsung watches… 😮
I think you need a larger control group, there's a lot of factors at play that are unique to you and how the sensors interact with you, you would establish a better average using a larger control group across say 3 people at least
I know some of these stats seem to be a bit inaccurate, but look at how accurtae they are as a whole. I mean if your like most runners and run 3-5 miles, a few times week, the distance will be within 0.1 miles of your milage ran, pretty great. Same for the HR tracking, most people use HR when doing steady state Zone 2 cardio, trying to stay within a certian area, these watches will achieve that.
I think most people are disappointed with the results compared to other brand watches, Samsung needs to do better, even Google has came closer in accuracy than Samsung.
@@MrSecretwest I agree, I'm also disappointed, but I'm just trying to make a point that even though these are not the most accurate, they are definitely accurate enough for most people, outside of serious athletes. With that being said, I have a hard time paying this much when I can get a Garmin Forerunner 965 or Garmin Venu 3 that is more accurate and has 90% of the smart watch capability, with 1-2 weeks of battery life.
I used all three, Garmin, Apple and Samsung, Samsung isn't even close to the other two for results. Samsung watch told me I only burned 200 calories for a 5k run, the other two had me closer to 500. Forget any type of weightlifting metrics, not even close to having any type of recorded workout. I can understand a small percentage here and there but Galaxy watches are super unreliable especially when you start hitting 10k runs or rucks.
I think most people seem to have forgotten that these watches are not suppose to be as accurate as actual medical devices. If you read the packaging it makes this point very clear.
Great video. Disappointed with the results for the two watches. What I look for in a watch is: 1. Android (not an Apple user) 2. 7 to 10-day battery life (so even if I was an Apple user, I wouldn't like to use Apple watches) 3. Great heart rate measurement and sleep tracking (don't care about GPS) 4. Form factor of a regular watch (round screen, big enough for my wrist - don't like smart bands or rings). It seems to me that, as of today, there are no options available in the market that fit all 4 criteria. Garmin Venu 3 is the closest, but even that is a bit too far from the top of sleep trackers for my taste.
@@danielmoksmann5654 you'll be waiting for a while and probably after Apple has achieved it. Until then you're just asking for a fitness tracker, any cheap one will do.
@@superiortoall22 As I said, the Garmin Venu 3 is the closest to what I want - don't really care about the Fitbits or other fitness trackers, it needs to look like a regular watch.
Awesome video! Would love to see one about the sleep tracking of different wearable rings if possible 🙏 (Oura, Ultrahuman, Ringconn, Galaxy Ring, ETC.)
Hey Rob, thanks for testing and sharing the results so swiftly! I adore your work just because you are doing a great job keeping it as scientific as it can be! Looking forward seeing your next videos before I purchase the Galaxy Watch 7!
Great analytics. I heard from other sources too that it was not great. Your recommended videos to watch was not on the screen. Keep up the great work...
I love these videos and truly appreciate all the hardworking that goes into these. These comparisons are freaking amazing. Thank you so much for your time
Oh yes, been waiting for this! The new BioActive sensor didn't seem to improve the results... A disappointment. As for the Ultra being better for GPS, I'm wondering if its larger battery means programming has been tuned to poll more frequently? The body impedance measurement... if true [it's not], 2.9%, you'd have very low testosterone levels, and over time become depressive, probably. I usually take 5 or 10 measurements in a row and calculate an average because they vary somewhat. They seem to be very sensitive to how the fingers are placed on the two button sensors, also tightening the strap, and placing the watch a bit higher up on the arm. When you do gym testing, please consider testing the rep counting, too. I wish Samsung released access to this for external apps. It used to be part of all Wear OS watches in Google Fit, until Samsung entered the scene. Unless there's review data out there, I believe Samsung will rest on their laurels for this particular feature in terms of where they allocate their development resources. Looking forward to the follow up.
I already bought it trading 5 pro. I'm only going to use it for outdoor cycling, hiking, and running. I'm disappointed that accuracy is still the same. This means the spare is at fault. I hope they tweak the software, but I'm not going to update again unless they drastically improve the accuracy. Even 5 pro is good enough if i hadn't updated.
Rob, absolutely amazing analysis. As a fellow Engineer and Bodybuilder I commend you on the work that you consistently do. I've also been consistently using Samsung devices since 2014 and after the abysmal performance metrics you showcased with the Galaxy Watch 6 I almost jumped ship - but I stuck it out....but I'm hanging on a thread and now realizing I may jump off. With that out of the way - what do you recommend from all your previous testing that is the best SMARTWATCH for WEIGHT LIFTING only? Thank you for your time and keep up the ultra informative work you are doing! Godspeed!
If you don't mind being closed off in Apple, then yeah the Apple watch. I use it for weightlifting and honestly, flying, to measure my vitals taking Gs.
Thanks a lot for this @Rob! It's still sad to see other watches like the Google Pixel Watch 2 and Huawei watches doing much better than the Galaxy watches even with an updated sensor. I hope this changes as the watch adapts to your workouts when the full review comes out or through updates. So far I'm sticking to my watch6 because I'm not convinced of that it's worth the upgrade. Cheers and grateful for your reviews 🙏🏽
Maybe a good comparison is the initial test vs. the tests of all the devices to compare software maturity, or we wait for the long term comparison...also, why no running on the tests?
Thanks for the first impressions, much appreciated! Re sleep tracking: I do understand the interest in it, however is it actually any useful, even if completely accurate? Is there anything I can do about - say - not getting enough REM or deep sleep? Provided I do all the basic stuff right such as sleeping for 7+ hours, limited caffeine intake and all that. So far it mostly seems to me to be an interesting, yet not actionable insight.
Thanks for your super review. I'm quite sure the firmware is not mature yet. Till we don't see any update on the software, it is difficult to apprehend the results of new sensors with an unadapted software. So let's see in the future. Regarding body composition, I've a galaxy watch pro 5 that I compare with an inbody scale with their own BIA sensors and the watch consistently over estimate my body fat compared to the 8 electrodes scale (about 2 to 3 points more on the watch). Look forward to seeing more of your tests ! Vielen danke!
Thank you for test. After watching your channel, 5 days ago, I cancelled my Samsung 7 ultra watch preorder. I still have the 5 pro though but thinking to move away from Samsung due to GPS system inaccuracy as well as sleep tracking.
Is there any improvement with the Galaxy 6 Classic? (Health wise, heart tracking just for the regular things, as walking or sitting, and Sleeping tracking). Would love a reply.
I like your scientific reviews very much and find them useful.👏👏👏👏 I even waited for your review to buy samsung galaxy 7, I'm glad I didn't buy it. I have a request from you. Could you also examine the heartbeat values of the watches in the pool or in the sea?
Thank you for this comparison. I'm not interested in Samsung watches since they've historically been worse at health tracking than their similarly priced competition, but it's always a relaxing (and an inspiring) experience to see your diligent efforts.
I'm 70 years old and heavily invested in the Samsung ecosystem (Galaxy Watch Ultra, S23 Ultra and Buds 3 Pro). I'm more concerned these days with monitoring my vitals than training for my next biathlon. This is a great video to let me know the accuracy of the Watch Ultra. Well done!
Hello, thank you for the video. That is certainly an accurate (and true) tech review. I am curious if it would be possible for you to compare the results of the GW7/GW7U against the previous generations (Watch4 series and 5 series) in the full review - with the results from the previous reviews, of course! Thank you in advance!
Bob, Are you planning on comparing Galaxy Watch 6 or classic to new Watch 7 or ultra? They tend to improve over software updates. I am just wondering if it is worth upgrading..🤔
Wow, so disappointing. I own a PW1 which has performed brilliantly but I wanted a 2nd device. The previous time I tried a GW was the 5-series and that went back in under a week because the GPS accuracy was so incredibly bad. I thought for sure this would be the one but apparently not. Thanks for getting this out as quickly as you did, Rob.
Awesome review of the Samsung Watch 7 and Ultra! As a big fan of Samsung, I'm really interested in how the Apple Watch Ultra compares in terms of accuracy. It would be great to see a comparison with it since many people claim it’s more accurate.
Keep in mind that most of the people complaining about the battery, didn't even let the watch learn your usage pattern. I'm using my Watch 7 for about 2 weeks, and clearly noticed that after the initial learning, it got much better. I had a 5 Pro, the battery life is not as good, but the advantages compensate this factor. I'm getting around 2 days battery life, with AOD, sleep monitoring and some exercises. With 10w charging, shower time + dinner time is more than enough for daily usage.
Nice video dude , your content has to be appreciated more , So much effort in making one video , Much prefer your reviews on daily wearables over MKBHD , Verge , Cnet etc . Can you do CMF Watch Pro 2 Please ? May i recommend changing your Channel Profile Photo , for some reason it looks very AI , not as inviting........
I love your videos! Thank you for the time you take to make them. I had a question please. I wear a Garmin Fenix 7 Pro. While sometime I think the heart rate is a little off and so is the sleep, I do find it pretty good. I was looking for something different and pre-ordered the Ultra. For heart rate which is very important to me, do you feel based on your research the Garmin is more accurate or the Ultra? Thank you for your help!
Great video, thanks! Have you observed Samsung releasing software updates that improve health tracking features of previous watches? Do you anticipate this in the case of the Watch 7 or Ultra?

Thank you very much mate, will be happy to see CMF Watch Pro 2, hope it's better than 1 product.
What kills me is the first HR chart. The top 5 being Apple Watch (AW)SE2022>AW9>AW6>AW7 THEN the Ultras?…
Yes, but they are so pretty close with their results so you can call them even. The more interesting thing is that how even old Apple Watch is far better than newest Samsung watches… 😮
Because of the shape and bulk, also there is huawei watch gt3 pro in between they make really accurate watches with insane battery life
@@keepsoulfree Yes!
Thank you for the review! The best channel for any wearable devices ! Recomended!
Amazing content op. Hats off. I'm glad i at least found your channel now.
Welcome aboard! ;-)
Thank you for doing these videos! Also, will you being doing the Samsung ring?
When is going to be the finial test result ?
@@sethdbrown30 these Samsung watches are okay for moderate health features and great for notifications and Samsung phone integration
Can't wait for the final data
Great video. Disappointed with the results for the two watches. What I look for in a watch is:
1. Android (not an Apple user)
2. 7 to 10-day battery life (so even if I was an Apple user, I wouldn't like to use Apple watches)
3. Great heart rate measurement and sleep tracking (don't care about GPS)
But Garmin has shitty app store
So you just want a fitness tracker, no watch with WearOS is going to give you 7-10 days of battery life.
@@superiortoall22 Yet.
Great overview, I appreciate all the testing and stats, and repeating same stories like a lot of other reviews do. Thanks!!!
Crazy good testing and also results within the first few days of release. Awesome and really useful content
Thank you so much for your time
I cant wait for you to review the galaxy ring !! I wont buy another samsung health tracker without watching your videos.
I didn`t start this video and already sent 5 star, nice job with your reviews!
Thank's! So, same story as Galaxy 6 for sleep. Not worth it the upgrade.
Is there a plan to review the Galaxy Ringbin the near future? Thanks for your videos
Please check the accuracy test on the new cmf watch pro 2 which will be useful for many consumers who are focusing on a budget level smart watch
The Definitive Review I was waiting for
Thank you Rob! Just what I was waiting for.... Now it is decision time -stay or go.... Keep up the much appreciated work!!
Thank you. I was really hoping that Samsung improved their sensors to match Apple.
Godspeed!
Use any Apple Watch after 6 series and you will be ok with it. Samsung HR measurements are just inaccurate
If you don't mind being closed off in Apple, then yeah the Apple watch. I use it for weightlifting and honestly, flying, to measure my vitals taking Gs.
this guy's gem. thanks for the killer content
Thanks for the video! Best science channel 😎. Every watch i ever had, i came here first to check the review
Thanks for you extensive and honest review!
Impressive video and data comparisons! Definitely going to subscribe
I like your scientific reviews very much and find them useful.👏👏👏👏 I even waited for your review to buy samsung galaxy 7, I'm glad I didn't buy it.
I have a request from you. Could you also examine the heartbeat values of the watches in the pool or in the sea?
Awesome review, as always. I'm impressed about the blood pressure sensors. Only that 😅
Thank you for this comparison.
Well done!
Also get a smart scale so you can combine the stats.
Make a video comparing Galaxy watch 4,5,6 and 7, it'll a make a great purchasing decision for activity tracking
Great review would love to see the results/comparison of previous galaxy watches.
Dang a galaxy watch review before a scanwatch 2 review. RIP. But solid review, was considering these as well, but the battery is what pulls me away
You are definitely my reference device!
first time watching your videos, this definitely has helped weigh in to my decision on purchasing.
Wait your review for so long...many bs review in YT, .i only trust your review. Thank you and keep the good work👍👍
Nice video dude , your content has to be appreciated more , So much effort in making one video , Much prefer your reviews on daily wearables over MKBHD , Verge , Cnet etc . Can you do CMF Watch Pro 2 Please ? May i recommend changing your Channel Profile Photo , for some reason it looks very AI , not as inviting........
Wow! Amazing video with lots of data - I love it!
Gonna link to this video in my review of the Galaxy Watch Ultra!
I was eagerly waiting for this from you. Thanks for the upload!
I've been waiting for your review before purchasing the GWU. Was hoping for better results. Looking forward to seeing the Galaxy Ring
Hi! I would wait for my full review and then compare the position of the watches in the graphs. Both are probably not the best for sleep though
Great video, thanks! Have you observed Samsung releasing software updates that improve health tracking features of previous watches? Do you anticipate this in the case of the Watch 7 or Ultra?
Hi! It’s definitely possible, as many manufacturers have made great improvements with just firmware
@@TheQuantifiedScientist thanks :) I'll just cross my fingers then.
