The Mokohinau Islands - Fishing in Paradise

A very achievable day trip from Auckland (in good sea conditions), we reckon the magical Mokohinau Islands should be on all fisherman and adventurers bucket lists!
Holding inner Hauraki Gulf species such as snapper, kahawai, trevally and kingfish, the Mokohinau Islands also offers the chance to target a whole different range of species including Granddaddy Hapuka, Pink Maomao, Blue Maomao and more.
Of the many islands in the group, Burgess Island (large island with the lighthouse) is the one that you may land on and explore - and what a view it is from the top! Just remember to check any belongings for pests and ensure you leave it exactly as you find it. We reckon a climb to the top of Burgess Island is the perfect spot for a bite to eat and to take in the wonder of the Hauraki Gulf.
