SLOW PITCH JIGGING at the MOKOHINAU ISLANDS

It was our first time taking my new boat the ‪@fcboatsnz‬ 560 ELEMENTUS to the Mokohinau Islands also known as the Mokes, located about 55km north of the Omaha Boat Ramp.
Our goal was to slow pitch for kingfish at the various reefs, and then explore the different islands and pins with slow pitch jigging or super light jigging to see if we can catch a range of different species.
The ‪@MinnKotaMotors‬ was the MVP of this trip, keeping us on the spots where the fish was holding.

Question I’m planning on fishing 80-150 ft what size lures should I get for most scenarios and should I fish 20lb or 30lb braid and what leader would you generally use ?

You could do 50 to 130 gram depending on the depth and drift speed. I use 30lb on my setup for that depth

Oh that black thing is not a sticker, its a 3D printed jig holder that is clipped onto the fishing rod

Used 70L, was quite surprised that it was fairly economical trip
