About 16 years ago give-or-take I was pretty well bottomed out : 40+ and just lost a marriage, three kids, home, and it seemed my professional career. All at the same time. Pretty much everything I'd defined as my identity. Fun times, right? Admittedly, I never quite got to the point of wanting to take my own life, but was perfectly okay with the thought of just giving up. Yet deciding to "power through", and with solid support from my brother, sister, and parents of course things *did* get better over time. Much, much better. That's the reason I'm subscribed to your channel. I can truly *identify*, and it seems a ton of other folks do too. Thanks for having this YT venue, this discourse, and for being open! And hey, it's also a lot of fun watching your reactions!

Floor is the ultimate professional. Here she is hard at work…. Singing, stage presence, showmanship, all developed over the years. It didn’t happen by accident. Took decades of hard work and dedication to fine tune her natural god given talent. Best wishes always.

You picked the right song to react to if you need some music to brighten your day. This song was inspired by the movie ‘the Snowman’. Tuomas explained: "How would it feel to take a midnight flight with a snowman through the most wondrous landscapes? The meaning of our very existence is created though stories, tales and imagination. They are at the very core of humanity."

The crux, to me, of this song is the line "the core of all life is a limitless chest of tales"
Your life is your memories, and memories are not things that exist but are recreated every time you remember something that happened (so the science says currently). And because of that every time you tell a take, it can be slightly changed so the number of memories is limitless.

You said you needed some Nightwish energy and all I could think was here it comes. Energy, childhood innocence, soaring Floorgasms, and smiles all the way around. Glad you were able to groove and grin (and who doesn't find Empu's grinning face infectious). This tune is a constant part of my "upbeat workout" playlist on Spotify.

It's not just you, Amanda. Floor is a force of nature, and is easily amongst the greatest performers of all time. I love the fact you picked the live version from Wacken, as this one is almost like a dare or taunt when Floor sings it, as opposed to being pretty whimsical by the original singer Annette. Might just be me, but that main riff (speaking as a guitarist) is the most sinister sounding thing since Mr. Scary by Dokken, and it absolutely needed the vocal power to match it.
And as for your reaction, you're exactly right. After the nightmare that was January for me, I dove headfirst back into my first love, which is music, and it's been incredibly therapeutic. Few things relieve stress quite like tearing through a solo at mach 8 on a half stack :-)
Awesome as always, and definitely have a fan! If I ever manage to land the interview with Floor, I'll let you know. We've reviewed Ghost Love Score on The Metal Channel - my personal favorite from that show, and one of my all time favorite songs by anyone. Definitely recommend for a reaction video, even if it is THE most reacted to song on UA-cam.

Nightwish is a great healer, if you get sad or depressed, put on some Nightwish, and it will bring out that bliss. The world can suck, but if you focus on the beauty and to good, it is there. When I went through my divorce, all I wanted to listen to was sad stuff and wallow in my misery, and I wish had known about Nightwish back then. It would have helped listening to positive and happy stuff, because yes darkness comes in every life but must find and embrace our joy when we can.

Band leader Tuomas Holopainen told Metal Hammer magazine: "It's such cool stuff, and I think that 'Walking In The Air' is the best piece of music ever composed, so [I thought], 'let's do a remake of that'!"

I do love how you break down the lyrics that Tuomas pens. Always a little more than I have picked up. My journey into Nightwish was the music, the melodies, and the stage presence. And then I started listening to the words. That is something we don't do enough. We listen, but we don't hear. So now, I listen. In every day life. To conversations. To the words. So much is being said and we just don't take the time to understand what is being said.

For what it's worth, I'm sure that among the 82,000 at that concert were people with problems and depression ... but all the negative stuff was unimportant and forgotten. Hope you get to see Nightwish on their next tour, and get to enjoy what really matters in life.

Exactly, this number gives you a peek into the mirror of your inner self. Now you only realize what you have lost since you left the child behind. Only when you realized what has happened to you, when you are no longer a child, have you also let go of that child's natural trust about security, love and peace. And suddenly you realize that you have now grown up, had renounced your childhood. All fantasy has exploded. This number will bring you back to that lost time. And because that time had ended abruptly, this song also ends abruptly, while you secretly passionately wished you could stay in this mood for the rest of your life.

You know what, after watching this video I thought to myself like this - I could turn the sound off completely and just watch your face, your movements, your eyes. And if I didn't hear the music, if I didn't hear your words, then - just by watching you - I would know that this song, this band, has given you so much joy, so much energy, that if you have any mountains in your area, you could easily move them with one hand. That's how this music works - I know that well myself. You are having a difficult day - listen to Nightwish! Feel their energy and pour their energy and joy onto yourself. It really helps! You are a young beautiful woman - I know, you have difficult days behind you, difficult moments. But - you have them behind you - there is a future ahead of you, a whole life ahead of you! And no Amanda, it's not just you!!! Millions of us have been seduced by her - her voice, her stage presence, her ability to utterly mesmerize. The band agrees wholeheartedly. Amongst the NW faithful she has many names: The Valkyrie, The Queen, The Goddess...and others. You're really starting to understand why! When Tuomas and NW "found" her, they created something beyond magical - it's truly a once in a generation (or even lifetime?) pairing.

Thanks for another great and insightful reaction. I fully agree with what you're saying - we design our own universes and it's beyond me how some would prefer a universe without the imagination, wonder and curiousity of one's inner child. I believe that we all have that part within ourselves, though in some cases it might be buried quite deep. Denying oneself this aspect of one's inner being is something I consider a form of repression. This is my roundabout way of saying that I refuse to grow up! 👶

Because they give you a dish of pure quality, Instruments, voice, history and absolute dedication in front of thousands of people., Being in such a delicate moment of music, where quality is lost and dedication And physical delivery does not matter, nightwish is a gift ... people who 20 years later continue to give their talent and also their physique, I went to see them several times, one of which was the famous DVD Live Buenos Aires 2018 ... always in each show You see them delivering everything, whether or not there are cameras, and those things stay in your mind, those things make you admire them ... and if we add the tremendous quality of composition and their super reflective lyrics, the combo is complete...Whenever I want to connect with my emotions or my inner child, I listen to nightwish, and I see them live ... nothing is equal to seeing their faces and connecting with them.

    Simplest pleasure in life?
The child and the closed box. The kiddish innocent curiosity. How sad we lose that as we age. Our get taken advantage of if we don't loose it.

You are looking beautiful today Amanda, As usual! You are definitely locked into the mind of Tuomas. It is not just you Amanda. She seduced me the very first time I heard her beautiful and powerful voice as well as her amazing stage presence. You are so great at commentary on wonderful music. The world is a beautiful experience. However sometimes the journey to adulthood brings us so much pain and mental anguish, it makes it difficult to stay positive and see the world with a clear vision. It makes me happy to see your beautiful smile. Keep reaching for the sky and find your bliss Amanda. I for one am rooting for you, and sending you all the positive healing energy I have to offer. I am sure that multitudes of Nightwish fans are doing the same as well. You have a wonderful soul my friend. We can see it in your eyes as well as your work regarding mental health issues. Peace and love. 🙏💖

There is definitely a part of me that loves the simplicity of sitting with my friend’s kid and playing with toys. Plus, I dare anyone to sit in front of a pile of legos and to not start playing with them.

Around 2013-2014 was the first time I started paying attention to Nightwish and this song with it's lyrics stuck with me. I started to rewatch some old Disney films and ones that I have never seen before, old or new. Somehow it felt like I found something I had lost, something like wonders of life. I think it was the first time I actually thought about how precious childhood is and how some parts of it one should never really let go.
In 2013 I quit my school (was studying IT in university of applied sciences) because I wanted to become a teacher. I applied to another university, but didn't get to one right after. Instead I got jobs as a substitute teacher or a school counselor. Every time I see that spark of wonder in some kid's eyes, I get reminded of this song. Even when there were preschool kids asking me to tell them actual real life stories, I saw this spark. To most people historical stories might be dull and uninteresting to listen, but to them it was an adventure, a great story.
I highly recommend listening to Tuomas Holopainen's Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. It has that certain feel of wonder that this song has.
Oh, and BTW, I finally got applied to university this fall! After eight years of trying, I'm finally actually on my way to getting a teacher's degree.

For those who do not know (and I am assuming that you're a finn).... that university that you got accepted in finally... is probably one of the hardest places to get in... in a line of education.... so huge congratulations to you!

      @JobbeFIN 2 роки тому

@@ssc00p Thank you! Although I should clarify that my current line of education is early education teacher (kindergarten/preschool teacher), which is a lot easier to get accepted into. Then again, this is only a bachelors degree, so I can apply for class teacher's masters degree after this.

@@MentalAmanda Yes, it's really a thing. Don Rosa is big here in Finland and I'm also a big fan of his stories. So when Tuomas first came to him with this idea he didn't really like it because he doesn't like heavy metal bands, but when Don Rosa heard the final product, he was moved to tears.

Sorry I am late to seeing the past two videos. But seeing you smile after what you posted 4 days ago bring joy to my hear. Night wish, disturbed, and FFDP are my go to groups when I am dealing with my PTSD from the USMC. You are a strong person and that shines through in your videos! Please does see this as a plug but one thing I try to relay during my streams is “you are valuable and loved. If you need help there are plenty of people out there that would gladly do just that. Help, love, and compassion is only a reach away.” If you could not tell mental health is a huge thing to me and a struggle at the same time. I salute you!

Stories have a life of their own, it is known as narrative causality, this song captures it perfectly, on listening you become part of the song, Floor just perfectly gives out the emotions you feel with every song she performs, she is so far beyond just a singer in a rock band, Nightwish are performers of stunning songs and play with every emotion you can feel, I know of no other band in any genre who have so consistantly caught all of the emotions of a performance in every DVD they have released. Floor is such a natural empath and projects all the time, from what she has said over the last few years Floor gets back just as much love, pain, anguish and passion. Floor is flawless and peerless. Big love x

Yes, Nightwish can break the shell of depression. It is like being lifted up into Heaven!
What I often forget is, that like with drugs, it is better (and much harder) to lift up yourself.
Starting to get there sometimes. Keep up the good work Amanda!
