It reminds me of the boy I loved, and that he loves me, now he's a stranger. So Beautiful I remember This song makes me cry, it's so beautiful, she sings beautiful, and transmits with her song, that sensation and feeling of depth,. Of all his songs, this is the one I like the most, the violin is perfect, the tone, everything transports you to a state of peace, melancholy, spirituality. The melody is so deep and beautiful, it reminds me of the person I loved, and in the end you're left with nothing, only with yourself, to live in life, this song I hear it every morning as I walk through the woods by the lake being reflected by the rays of the sun, beautiful morning, melancholy, loneliness, sadness, beautiful deep song, makes you cry, makes you travel, you feel alive to breathe the fresh air, close your eyes and imagine your perfect life with the person you love most it is no longer The person you love is a complete stranger Hello stranger
Dear Julia & Bowlegs, I have always loved this magical song. Stripped of the beat, as you have done here, leaves the pure emotion of the song which is spectacular and powerful. Songs like this are a gift. There's no way a songwriter can make this happen on their own, a perfect combination of melody, lyrics, and the inflections given during the performance. Brought back tears, and I've heard this piece hundreds of times. Thank you, so very much.
This is breathtaking, yet even more incredible is her "studio version" of this same song, "Hello Stranger" which she presents on her CD "Loud City Song." On the album version, there are "soft echoes" of her voice singing the backing harmony and chorus in the background. It is stunning.
Just discovered this version of this classic song, never heard of Julia before. Ist time I listened to it, I thought it to slow, the 2nd time the voice just floored me. The 3rd time, OMG!
I dig this... I dig it deep! I posted it to FB with the following: If you've ever driven within 100 miles of American Pop Music, you've no doubt heard "Hello Stranger" by Barbra Lewis. A summer staple from back in the day, waifting out of car windows in the D, and still as good as ever. That said if you've ever imagined what it would sound like if it were recorded in a part of the universe where everything looks and sounds like a Maxfield Parrish painting... Imagine no more.
On our coastal drive on the 1 hwy in northern California this is the first song we listen to as soon as we see the ocean this song is extremely special to us ❤️ magical
The last time we saw her in Scottsdale, AZ, she had every kind of loud instrument on stage, incl bagpipes. I asked her out loud "Why?" She just laughed and we left. I have ear damage and hyperacusis now so I guess 2 songs was it for life, for our Julia Holter Experience. Was hoping for "Hello Stranger".
Another interpretation of a classic song by Barbara Lewis. I love the instrumental background it gives it a musical depth that is wide and a showcase of classical violin, soulful sax and a longing for the stranger who left with the voice of calling to the one that has come and gone with a blink.
Simplement brutal. Pur extasi. Si la versió original de Barbara Lewis és extraordinària, aquesta de na Julia Holter és realment súblime, onírica. Thanks so much Julia, you sound like an angel.
Your voice has that beautiful resonating qualty. Crystal clear and pitch perfect. I would have loved to have heard this at the original tempo, You voice would bring a new quality to an old classic,
Love the Barbra Lewis version but since the first time I heard this a couple months ago I can't stop playing it. So mellow and haunting, an absolutely beautiful version.

It's so weird to hear an upbeat song turned into a dirge, but it works. Her voice is so ethereal, and I like the treatment, plus the musicians are fabulous. When I listen to the Barbara Lewis version it's like the thoughts are occurring as she vocalizes them while this seems more like a remembrance of things past with all the lines trailing off into infinity. That's music, almost endless possibilities.
SO GLAD I STUMBLED APOND THIS COVER OF THE OLD CLASSIC, SO CALMING,
My boyfriend and I listen to this driving the coast of northern California 1 hwy this song is beautiful ❤️🥰 gives me chills

Never has someone sounded so sad as they sing about how happy they are. Perfect interpretation of the song.
Just discovered this version of this classic song, never heard of Julia before. Ist time I listened to it, I thought it to slow, the 2nd time the voice just floored me. The 3rd time, OMG!
It's refreshing when a young artist does an "old" classic like this. It's a sweet (and a little melancholy) rendition.
I'm so happy
What an assured performance. A steely sure voice but, with real emotion and a gorgeous arrangement of this song. Well done Julia!
I think I just found my new favorite musician! This arrangement is beautiful!
Can't get enough of this... I'm back again...

Amazing piece of music. Stumbled on it by accident - 10/10
I love the gentle touch of this song
Superb rendition, a gifted set of musicians, your arrangement was daring for it's complex simplicity, the vocal sublime.
Her voice is as clear as a bell.
how can one not be mesmerized by music that connects time with all one's senses?
I'm not even sure how one can even understand what the heck you said! But she has a lovely voice.
This is so beautiful. I love this song & such a perfect cover.
Didn’t expect this!! Pleasantly surprised !!

Just when I thought this song couldn't be more sublime.

Elegant, somber. Wonderful.

Wow. This totally blew my mind
Judith Holter is music and emotion at the pinnacle.
This song comes with gloomy morbid tones that will put the mortuary spectators to sleep and cry during my wake. It is perfect!
