The Chinese button knot is the one thing I was able to learn from my Ama, who lived 12 hours away when I was growing up and only knew how to speak Teochew. She was the only grandparent connection I felt that I had, and I was sad when I realized one day that I forgot how to do it. I feel disconnected from my heritage often as a first gen Chinese American. Thanks for sharing, hopefully one day I can make my own qipao and use this to make the buttons.
Thanks so much. I made a bunch for a coat and it came out beautifully. I used seam tape with cotton cord instead of paracord and was able to get nice hard buttons with matching loops. I even have spare seam tape in case my stitching comes loose or some wear thin.
I have a shirt with similar buttons and want to learn to make them for a coat. I can't figure how to work in the strings (that are left) and/or how to make the loop to sew them on?
Such a pretty knot! Your instructions were great, but since I managed to get a head injury a few years ago, I have tremendous difficulty following instructions. Mine didn't come out nearly as pretty as yours. 'l guess I will have to let my husband learn your know and he can show me. Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much! It's the only video I have unterstood on UA-cam.. I nearly got weird cause it doesn't works (it also fails with German videos) and I'm so happy that I can do this very easy at my first try with this video. You explain it slowly, that was very helpful, big hug🤗
Thank you I’m a beginner and your instructions which I have followed was done successfully and made myself a end of my key chain ring look forward to more from you
Please do this vid again. @0:44 your fingers cover the point at where the knots meet and I can't tell which one you are grabbing to do the weave. I think I watched 6x before I got frustrated

I didn't like it. The tightening part, the "arduous task," was glossed over. I need to see that part to be satisfied.
