I doubt they got caught just because they weren't using a vpn.

There's a reason cable, streaming, dish companies are losing folks. These companies STILL don't get it. Until you bring costs down to reasonable levels, nothing will change.

When I find interesting is that there is plenty of precedent in the UK, where the story is based so everything is in pounds not dollars, that makes it the responsibility of the broadcaster/streamer to prevent piracy. It will be interesting to dig deeper and find out exactly what laws were broken, what laws were invented specifically for this case, and how previous case law and legislation was applied.
A few comments... 1.) They're pounds not dollars which is even worse. 2.) Recent headlines about companies like UA-cam banning accounts for youtube premium if the user is using a VPN with a foreign IP address to get the lower subscription price. 3.) What else would you expect from a country that makes you license your TV set. Lots of things going for that country but I mean, TV license. Bruh, cmon.
Damm well you do realise America also has to pay a TV licence too, it's just hidden away an tacked on to most utility bills so they can double dip they get that perk because it's a hidden charge, it's a hidden charge so people don't get upset 🤣 same as a lot of places. With hidden costs but you ain't gonna get a free dinner in this life, an if you think you are getting a free dinner think again.

@snave59 Well, of course, it's not very important. The most serious of all crimes in the United States is that someone might have possessed and/or used marijuana.
VPN is important but I believe there's a bit more to these arrests.
