Thanks for your query. The usual recommended dose of metformin in such a situation is 500 mg each, twice daily, unless it's contraindicated. However, I strongly urge you to take your Dr's advice before taking any meds, including metformin. Thanks once again.

Dear Dr., I am taking Metformin for the last 10 years. Now during last 2 years, as per advice of Doctor- it is changed - jalra - which is a combination of Metformin and Vidagliptin. My hb1ac is 7.3 but stable for the last one year. Before that it was less. Is there any need for changing Metformin since the gas formation is more now a days. I am a subscriber to your channel. Janumet is usually better than plain metformin in type 2 diabetes. The dose might vary from person to person.
