I replace the brake fluid whenever I replace brakes - old fluid gets oxidized and a flush and fill is fairly easy while you have access to the brake cylinders.
I was wondering what the year was on this Forte but I found it in the description. Was wondering though cause I have a 2012 Forte and my front brakes sit towards the back of the wheel well as opposed to how yours are. Good info though nonetheless
Great video ….however I was watching to find a easier way to install the little pins that go in the holes on the brake pads. I do my brake jobs the same exact way but always have a problem with the pins that go in the little holes on the actual brake pads.
@@StevehBe My 17 mm bolt is so tight I can't take it off with my ratchet wrench. I think I'll have to buy an impact wrench just how the guy in the video used.
I have a 2013 ki forte sx ? Are the brakes universal for this model ? 2.4 liter turbo ? You make it looks so easy with this fix . I hope that's the case. I really want to successfully complete a brake fix .
only steps did not see you do was the metal clips that go over the brake pads did not see you bleed the brake or open the cap on where you refill brake fluid. maybe its not necessary but always see it done on other brake videos. Sorry if im wrong.
A lot of the videos I've watched they use a tool to slowly compress the piston, so no need to bleed them. Just pump the pedal until firm after installation.
I just did my daughters 2018 kia forte front breaks and when i stop at a light n pull off there is a wonk wonk type noise for a few seconds then goes away until stopping and pulling off again. I didnt change the rotors but did everythg else. ????
cmon dude great video but your forgetting the pins that retract the pads away from the rotor. these are a real PITA the reinstall please advise in your videos how to re apply these pins.
I saw that the old ones had a tensor pulling the pads to the exterior so that they don't touch the disc when the car is moving, in the new ones you didn't install the tensors, do that affect anything or is perfect like that? Thanks for the clarification!!! Nice video
If the new pads come with it then install it with the replacement however a lot of new brake pads do not come with them and it is totally fine to install without
what about those pins 3:47? i think those are to separate the pads from the rotor but none of the replacements from the stores i bought them from come with them, anyone knows where can I get them?
did you do the rotors too just to show or is it like it is up here where noone will do the pads without the rotors? ive had 8 cars in my entire life and this is the first time ive ever heard of anyone demanding to put on rotors at EVERY brake job even though my car only has 35k miles on it and the rotors look better than the ones i had on my old car that had 256k on it that noone mentioned a thing about the rotors for.
I did rotors on this car because there was a good brake bundle deal at the time. Normally when replacing brake pads you can have the rotors turned or replaced. For me I am able to warranty brakes if the rotors are replaced and gives a peace of mind that if the old rotors were warped it would be fixed
The pads had small holes for the brake pad spring, but you did not install it back on. Why not, do it not need it? Shouldn't the bracket bolts been cleaned or replaced, they were rusty coming out & rusty going back in...
I couldn't get one of the rotor screws out (it was rusted) my neighbour offered to help and he drilled the head off entirely so... one of my rotors is only held in with one screw. What are my chances of survival 1-10
You forgot the anti rattle springs you took out @3:44 when putting it back together, there were holes for them in the new pads too (@9:09 on) ...
That's one thing I realized.
Followed this step by step and it worked out 110%! Absolutely amazing tutorial.
Hey when you did this did you bleed the brakes? Just curious
no other video showed that you have to turn the piston and I was losing my mind trying to figure it out. thank you so much
No Brake grease/silicone on the outside of both brake pads? (Caliper ears and piston)
How did you jack up the car? Having trouble finding where to put the jack on a 2017 forte that looks just like the one in the video
I replace the brake fluid whenever I replace brakes - old fluid gets oxidized and a flush and fill is fairly easy while you have access to the brake cylinders.
Best and cleaner work i ever seen 😊
You make it look easy man!

Good tutorial. My MacGyver for caliper tool is a set of extra long needle nose pliers. Insert and twist. Easy-peasy!
If you do another one like this tell us what size socket you’re using. TIA

Thanks, this was very helpful.
Do I apply the parking break thru the whole process of changing the rear brake pads???
No you want to leave them off
What size socket did you use for the caliper bolts???
14mm & 17MM for the caliper bracket

What do you do when the car squeaks when braking how can you fix that ?
Where did you Jack the vehicle from? Thanks
very good video have to do my grand kids car makes it a lot easyer

It should be very similar there may be some slight variance in looks but the overall concept is the same
@@daringmotors that's awesome , thank you for your response .

You should’ve replaced that screw that was damn near stripped. Next person doing this is gonna be screwed now.
Or just don't put them back. They aren't necessary, especially 2 of them.
What size are those caliper Mount bolts (not the 14mm)?
Does the wear sensor go on the inboard pad or the outboard or does it matter?
It goes on the inboard pad as it normally won’t fit in the outboard
Great video, but the torque wrench placed on the black bonnet made me feel uneasy 😆

Anything similar to Mission Silicone Paste? The only thing available is online, but I need to start the job today
They sell small one use brake lubricant at most auto part stores
what about those pins 3:47? i think those are to separate the pads from the rotor but none of the replacements from the stores i bought them from come with them, anyone knows where can I get them?
You can reuse the old ones but from my experience they don’t serve much of a purpose and will be completely fine without
What is the name of the tool you used to loosen the screw?
It is called an impact screwdriver
so i got my brake replaced and a new rotor but the brake padel is squishy is that normal or im missing something? great video by the way
The first time you push the pedal after changing the brakes the pedal will be squishy then after you pump the brakes a little bit it should firm up.
@@daringmotors what you mean pump it up like keep pressing it till it form up?
Yes and if it doesn’t firm up then there is another issue
@@daringmotors ok thank you

Not from the salt belt. Lol

You will be totally fine! Many cars don’t have that screw to hold on the rotor because the wheel holds it on when it is tightened down
You don't even need those screws. They're only there to hold the rotor on during the assembly line. Older cars didn't have set screws.
What was the torque for the lugnuts on the wheels
Google it
He did not put the spring clips back on the brake pads.
Love Dodge dakotas
Does anyone know what kind of grease he used?
I believe it's locktite brand . You can get it at autozone.
brake job and change a caliper on this vehicle and the brake pedal still sluggish after I bled the brakes to
Is replacing the back the exact same as the front?
I have a video on how to do the rear brakes here it is a little different.
m.ua-cam.com/video/PjHbAQ7AkpU/v-deo.html
Does the brake fluid pop out anywhere else when you compress it like that? No need to bleed the brake line?
You did not put the pins back in. The ones that go on top and each end of the pad. The very first pins you pulled out.
You skipped putting the first pad back in... That's where I always have trouble
I cant see the job because of the blue letters
