Putting 6.4k through that thing just deformed the former so bad the coil almost seized in the motor and locked it up completely. You might have gotten way with 3-4k but not 6. Dang.
Bad design. Most likely what always happens is at peak travel the coil is beyond the center poles lenght and the surround pulls it off center causing the coils bottom to contact and miss-shape it, causing rub.
kinda makes me second guess ordering new subs from them to replace my old school rf hx2s......i dont wanna hurt these old classics, but that thing died pretty fast.
6000 watts will blow a 3000 watt sub pretty quick yep. When you go below the tuning frequency of the port its basically a free air sub slapping in the wind. Ported boxes high power and going below the tuning frequency with no subsonic filter on not a good mix. Do the same test with a 2.5 cubic foot sealed box. Results will be drastically better. ✌❤😃
I once had an American Bass Godfather subwoofer bottom out and bent the bottom of the coil. It didn't work good after that. When I took it apart the bottom of the coil came unwound and the coil former was slightly bent from high excursion. CT SOUNDS NEEDS TO LEARN THAT A 2000RMS WATT 3 INCH COIL SUBWOOFER NEEDS AT LEAST 25MM OF XMAX NOT 18.5MM OF XMAX.

Because it won't take 4x it's rated power?
@7:30 I would blame the speaker on that. I would complain.
Great vid btw
Very nice pretty cool video
kinda makes me second guess ordering new subs from them to replace my old school rf hx2s......i dont wanna hurt these old classics, but that thing died pretty fast.
I'll bet that wouldn't happen to skar subs! 😂😂
Idk y but this shit had me laughing 😂😂😂😂 so hard 😂😂😅
Try aging ct
It bottomed out and bent the former
New ct's over travel on center pole. Same thing just coil jumps over pole instead of bottom out. Same effect, damage to bottom of coil. Bad design
NOT a ct fan. Price is too high for the quality you get. At that price it should have at least high temp glue and an coil cap. 😮
That looks just like a VXF from Skar.
I have seen you test some trash subs that out preformed this sub. I had some hope for ct sounds but it is what it is
