I'm a midwife for 12 years and from my experience there is one thing with doulas. There are good ones like Chantel, supportive, calming and there are ones who are dangerous people that pressure women to do non medical birth even if there are problems during labor. 3rd, I haven’t watched the video yet but I just wanna say u are so brave, it must’ve been painful but also u give birth to a beautiful baby and get to spend the rest of ur life with them and raise them into a beautiful child! Love Lex xx
Regarding the pain, I haven't gone through childbirth but I had two wisdom teeth surgically removed while having only local anasthesia. I was completely aware of the dentists literally sawing through my gums and I was in so much pain. I cried a lot but I tried to be positive during the whole time and it kind of helped actually. So now I know what to do when I'm going through childbirth. I can't compare childbirth and a tooth extraction, Two completely different processes but positive mindset is the key! 😊
Absolutely and childbirth gives you the best gift ever. Pain wit purpose. I delivered my 3 sons natural. You won't regret that decision and so much healthier for mom and baby.
Thank you so much for being so open and honest in all of your pregnancy videos! I got pregnant about 6 or 7 months after you, so it's been a real comfort knowing what to expect and just frankly that I'll survive this! 😅❤
Really great video Tina and Chantel! I wish I had a doula when I was pregnant. I didn’t even know about them then. About feeling like you’re the one doing all the work…I remember asking my husband to bring the baby to me when breastfeeding. His job was to get her and my job was to feed her. Then he would put her back in the bassinet (later on in the crib).
I had all 3 of my boys natural, no medications. The image I kept in my mind was pain for a purpose. When you prepare and understand our bodies are made to d I this. It's hard to explain the contractions. It isn't so much pain, but more as intense. There is pain, but if you keep in your mind that every time it intensifies, that it is closer to meeting your baby. My third child was the only one where my water broke on its own and that one for me hit hard, intense and fast. The first two hours I didn't have a lot of contractions at all. But then when the contractions came they were fast and intense. But, only 4 hours of labor for him 😁. I am happy that I did it the way our bodies were meant to do it. Doing natural birth gave me strength and the relief when the baby comes is the happiest moments in my life! Nothing compares. I shook after each birth, but I tore all three times. The doctors were stitching me up and I didn't feel anything down there. Knowing you just did that, you gave birth without assistance, and it helps you see yourself as a stronger woman and for me, I literally loved my children a little more. Bonded a little more, enjoyed them a little more. Every second of the intensity is so worth going through. You built a human, delivered it into this world in the healthiest way possible, you are a super woman!
This has nothing to do with birth but I remember shivering before a surgery. The lady there told me it was because I was stressed. I almost yelled at her it was because I was cold and I was wearing short leggings and a t-shirt! And surgery rooms are cold on purpose to prevent bacteria from spreading. My dad and the mom of the other kid were given a green robe thingy to wear and I was given nothing. I was left there to freeze. And it was the beginning of June so it wasn't super hot. I felt that when you said that. They then came with a robe for me too thankfully.
@@llewisdolphins I wasn't given a thing. I had my vitals checked and was asked to change into my pjs. And off I went to the surgery area. My dad was given and the other child's mom were both given something to cover up. I think the following time I was given something to wear. But the next time was worse for all the wrong reasons. From almost fainting due to high anaestetichs. To wanting to kill my mom because she kept asking me stuff about my surgery experience when I was so out of it and wanted to sleep.
My contractions lasted 2 days and by the time i went into active labor i couldn't handle the contractions anymore so i got an epidural. I tried so hard to go natural but i was just so tired and sore from the contractions that i wanted some relief 😮💨.
You got this girl, each lab I r and delivery is different. Get a provider you trust that listens to you, your needs, your wants and puts you first. Take control of your health, your plan. I have 3 sons and each one was different. Your body knows what to do. 😊
I got pregnant with my first baby in 89 and gained 50 pounds even though I walked every day even on the day I went in labor...I went into labor at home...had my daughter at 11:57pm. She weighed 8 pounds 13 3/4 ounces...I had a lot of stitches from front to back ..I didn't have a butthole ...I was 135 pounds when I got pregnant and 180 at my daughter's birth....I pooped while having her...when I got released from the hospital I walked from my apartment to the health department to take my baby to get WIC...my second baby was 7p 11 ounces...I don't remember I weighed but I had him natural...I had my daughter natural to ..my youngest son was 7p 3 ounces...I had to have an epidural with him because the pain was so I'm earable
I really do believe once you get the breathing techniques down they continue to help you the rest of your life. I am 51 and I have a disease in my spine that creates extreme pain for me and I use the breathing techniques still. They help you deal with pain so much better than you think you can.
I am so glad I am not the only one, I still use my lamaze breathing to this day. It is so useful during pain and stress. Who knew that breathing technique could be so powerful throughout our lives.
@@llewisdolphins RIGHT! I am also so surprised what our brains can manipulate. We can make ourselves feel sick literally and we can make ourselves better also. I was having some severe panic attacks years ago before I was medicated for my OCD and I quite literally would make myself feel like I was going to throw up, now I knew I most likely wasn’t going to but in my head you couldn’t tell me any different. Now I look back at it being that it was years ago and I know my brain was actually doing that to me. My daughter has epilepsy and throughout this journey I have found out how much of the brain that we don’t know about, the majority of our brain are things that doctors are baffled about. So yeah I really feel like breathing can help us through so much like you said pain and stress, I do think at times it’s more powerful than medication. It’s nuts to think when we feel pain whether it’s in our back or we stub our toe, it all comes from the pain center in our brains. Crazy right.
@@mommashawna707 it really is crazy, but definitely goes to show that we can get through anything with the power in our minds. It's like if someone always saw things negatively then there life will just give more negativity, but a person that sees things in a positive light will just create and attract more positivity. Self speech can make us or break us. Hard to believe that the more negative people are self sabotaging their own lives within their own mind. People that talk to themselves positively are enhancing their lives. They are the ones always smiling, always helping others, look successful and extremely confident, the ones who look intimidating for some reason, but would take 5heir shirt off there back for a stranger. Like I tell my children, your life is a cumulative of choices. The ones in the past don't matter because it has no bearing on today and you can't change it anyway. Don't worry about things you have no control over. But, focus on what you can control, your choices. You choose every day if it is going to be a good one, or a bad one. You choose your outfit for the day. You choose to say hello to your neighbor or ignore him. Not all choices ar3 easy and some will force you to choose the lesser of two evils. Happiness is chosen, not given, not bought, not someone else's job. True happiness comes from within. But, they must be will8ng to accept the consequences with every choice. It could be good or bad and this is where they need to consider who else will their decision effect. Each choice is a pebble in a pond which ripples far and wide, so they need to think about how those ripples will work before they make the choice. Each human should practice making choices that will have more positive outcomes. Lack of choosing is also self sabotage. In the end, their lives are about choices they have already made, dealing with each consequence correctly, and understand that they are the only ones that can choose to make good choices. Anyone can change the course of their life by changing their choices. Choose to be happy, don't blame choices in the past or even5s in the past because they don't matter with the exception of PTSD. I choose a happy day, greatful to be alive. I choose to make someone else smile everyday. I choose to write down everything I felt guilty about and made it right with everyone I hurt and now have no regrets, no more stressful guilt wasting space in my head. We just need to choose today as a good day and choose to make the choice to choose good choses for our tomorrow. Sorry this is long. I simply love the way you think and wanted to share the easiest advice to choose the course of your life. It all start with positive self speak, like telling yourself you did a great job on a project, reminding yourself that you are strong, you can do this. Talking to yourself in the mirror helps too. Telling yourself everyday looking into your own eyes in the mirror I love you will truly help you to accept yourself including your flaws. It helps you stand taller and gain more confidence. The day you finally look in the mirror and tell yourself I love is the day that you accept who you are, embrace your own uniqueness, own your flaws like badges of honor, and learn just how much you are worth. All from your own mind, positivity, acceptance, tolerance, self awareness, self respect, responsibility for your own actions, selfworth, your own boundaries that you won't let any one cross, and most importantly confidence. You will walk a little taller, hold your head up high, and never worry about someone talking about you. They are, because confidence and a smile on your face will make others wonder how they can be more like you. ☺️ The power we have in our own heads and so few know how to use it to their advantage. That advice I gave my sons is because I already do it. Enjoy the book I wrote, lol and always stay curious about what you mind might be able to do for you. Maybe you'll unlock another hidden secret!😁
@@llewisdolphins I write books too so I totally get it lol I completely agree with you and I couldn’t have said it any better. I hope you have a wonderful weekend my dear.
In the birth of my first child he was at the position that the doula mentioned when the baby face is facing forward. And I was trying to birth naturally without any medication, however The doctors asked to put the monitor on my belly and do not move all the time to measure the contraction. I was on my back all the time even though I would ask to move they refuse and ask me to still on my back. They broke my water without asking and leave me suffering for five hours without my water and I’m on my back then they decided that I need an emergency C-section because the baby is not on the cervix yet. At that point I was dying from the pain I was desperate and not aware of my surroundings when they mentioned the C-section I was like I’m done yes I’m doing that ( my husband was abroad and they refused to bring my mom with me). My second baby I was having Gestational diabetes with past of C-section I was having no choice other than a C-section. from my experience there is no birth without any pain even though you have a C-section you will have a pain afterward because the C-section you feel the pain after the birth not before. However the vaginal birth you having the pain before hand and after the birth it’s just amount of time and then it will dissolved. But in my first child I experienced both, I experienced everything about vaginal birth then I experienced the worst part of the C-section. So if you have a choice to choose a C-section choose it first before you go through all the pain.
"change your doctor" YES! I actually turned my back on my doctor after he told me not to eat fruit, carbs or anything good because I was too heavy for him. He also told me my iron was reaaally ba and we would HAVE to do something. I went to my midwife - everything was fine. And I stayed with her instead of a doctor. It was way more calm and natural and she helped me deliver at home without any problems. The "biggest problems" we had was, that she could only have me deliver at home for three days late (he decided to pop out last minute) and that she couldn't get the buns she wanted for breakfast because our second child was soooo fast (under 3h). :D If we were still in the same city I wouldn't have anyone else. ♥ *edit ne prepared to have trouble going to the toilet the first few days. I had a lot of trouble both times. Also: be prepared to have contractions after birth. The first time it was alright but after kid two I could not do it without pain reliever. Which I didn't take for either birth. It might be fine, but be prepared. Be smarter than me. :D
So glad you stood up for yourself. Doctors work for you not the other way around. Always stay in charge of your health. And the contractions happened a little worse after delivery when I started breastfeeding. I only had twinges after that.
@@llewisdolphins Yeah I am a little scared of the contractions after birth with number three. The second time Was already really tough. This time around my doctor is really calm about everything. Even about me wanting another homebirth. :)
@@miaurakimchi7349 I am so glad to here that. Go for it love. Pain with a purpose. It's hard, but after building that little human for so long, the day you get to meet them outshines any contractions 😁. You go girl!
I have a question maybe I should have it asked sooner but can you vomit during labour because personally my period cramps make me vomit (not now thanks to my contraceptive pill).
when you were talking about pain in the body I got contractions in my leg's which I didn't understand, I never got yo go to any birth classes in the uk as my daughter start to cone early at 26 week's so I missed every class. I have asked doula on her Instagram account it was 33 year's ago know but would love yo find out what or why it hurt through my leg's. Great Q&A very interesting. five my little vlog neice a big hug and kisses from auntie Melanie 😘 from uk XXXXX
I'm not an expert but I've experienced very bad menstrual cramps from intermetriosis and there are times that I feel the cramps down into my legs as well as up my back. Also sciatic pain that starts in your back can go down your legs all the way to your feet.
You won't really see much blood. All of that is out of your view and when it comes to delivery, at least from my experience, there really isn't anything you really care about except the delivery. You won't care how many people are in the room. You won't care if your completely naked, nothing at all will take your focus away from delivering your baby. So, there is always a possibility, but I really don't think any amount if blood would bother you. Think of it this way, it is just a really heavy period.
I have a uh it's like my kinda aunt I guess(I'm actually a Filipino and I don't know what's the English of it so excuse me) and she is pregnant for like 2 mos now and can you give us moree tipss uhh and I hope it's a girl too😃
I am a birthparent. I placed my son for adoption when he was born. I was 16. I wish I could have had a doula. No one told me there was meds to dry up the milk so instead I came home empty handed and later developed extremely sore breasts for several weeks until the milk dried up on its own. I remember sobbing having dreams where I was holding him only to awake and he wasn’t there. I had 3 days in the hospital with him. I think my doctor didn’t have the heart to discharge me before then. Things could have been so much easier on me if I’d had a doula. Edit: I feel like I should mention that I had an easy labor and delivery. I did get the epidural. (Planning to use just laughing gas when/if I have another baby) I was in labor 18 hours and pushed for 6 minutes. I was napping and awoke with the urge to push. My aunt and my mom were there along with the adoptive parents (it was important to me that they were there when he was born. They were the second/third people to hold him). He was a smallish baby, 6 #, 13 oz, and I did kegels every day, many times a day :)
I am so sorry they didn't give you anything to dry your milk up. Going through engorgement sucks. Your breasts get hard as a rock and hurt just from air passing by. I am so glad you had the adoptive parents there, I think that is important for you and them. When you decide your ready for a child you can use a doula you trust, that listens to you and walks every step of the process with you. Just the emotional support alone is golden. Hormones swings are hard to predict. It would be nice to have someone that is capable and ready to help you through that.
The longer you wait to deliver a still born baby will increase the chances of changes to the baby’s skin and overall appearance and that can be difficult to see. :(
Yes. Most of us remember the pain and the intensity. A lot of mothers will also try to push the baby out when watching a video of a delivery. You don't really forget, rather, you just don't care. Seems weird, but the maternal instincts take over and any pain felt before baby just doesn't matter after baby. I have three sons and I tore with all of them. I remember the ring of fire she mentioned. I had that ring of fire each time. I remember how each contraction felt and how sore and uncomfortable I was after delivery. Having stitches is hard. I was afraid to poop for fear I might break a stitch. But these are just the stories you tell your kids, at the end of the day, that pain doesn't matter at all. Pain with a purpose gives you the best gift ever and anything before the moment you hold that tiny human has no significance. Moms don't forget, it is just unimportant. 😊
🤔since it's a longer process, I guess it's easy to have a couple of people on different stages of the journey: person on second trimester, on third, close to birth, on "fourth trimester". One on each 'slot' already makes 4 moms to work with at once, with low chances of them giving birth at the same time😊
How is she like a human form Baymax I feel so comforting just looking at her 💁: Hello, I am Chantel , your personal healthcare companion. On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your pain?
Yes! At least in Spain we have doulas and midwives. In many instances, midwives do the work of a doula. You can get your standard midwife when you go to the doctor (one gets assigned to you) but also there are specialised services for non medicalised births, always as long is a low-risk pregnancy
Wow, in Germany no doctor would push you in some medication. 😮 Just the opposite...every doctor would advise you to try it out without medication. Very interesting how healthcare differs from country to country.

Thank you so much for being so open and honest in all of your pregnancy videos! I got pregnant about 6 or 7 months after you, so it's been a real comfort knowing what to expect and just frankly that I'll survive this! 😅❤
Thank u so much for being so open. It really helps to understand all those things, and also to educate myself
Loved all the answers , and Chantel too . I learnt a lot from this video .
OMG thank you so much for being so open Tina and Chantel! This was very educational. I really enjoyed the video. 💗
Hi Tina!!! Please show more of Lyla too in your videos♥♥♥....Wanna see her cuteness!!!
I love her. She makes such an effort to be inclusive 💖
My sister had a midwife & debated a doula and now I’m convinced to have both! Lol
This was great! Thanks for sharing and shedding light on these questions.
I am single, no prospects, no plans for babies, but this is so interesting!
Missing your try on haul Tina hope you be back with it ❤️
I love Chantel omg I would love her as my doula
Why is that there's no Doula here in the 🇵🇭?
All mothers need somebody like her (Doula)
Thanks Tina for this.
Tina is like that older sister we all need haha!

This was so great and educational. Thank you so much for doing this video! This will become an incredible resource for tons of people.

Sometimes the pre medication before anesthesia can make you shiver also. They should have given you a warmed blanket. Sorry you had that experience.
To wanting to kill my mom because she kept asking me stuff about my surgery experience when I was so out of it and wanted to sleep.
you're the best ! lots of love tina !!
First 💗 loads of love from India🇮🇳
My contractions lasted 2 days and by the time i went into active labor i couldn't handle the contractions anymore so i got an epidural. I tried so hard to go natural but i was just so tired and sore from the contractions that i wanted some relief 😮💨.
Oh wow! You are a strong mama to endure that for 2 days!!
You did your best girl, that is all anyone can do. You did great!!
For the first time 😭😭😭😭 I'm a big fan though and i watch ur videos so impatiently ❤️❤️
Omg the fishing net for poop had me in such a giggling fit
Can Chantel come to the Netherlands te be my doula? And I’m not even pregnant yet but still 😅 Chantel is so calming
I love this my birth was very tramutic and I am scared to have another baby but watching this helps
You got this girl, each lab I r and delivery is different. Get a provider you trust that listens to you, your needs, your wants and puts you first. Take control of your health, your plan. I have 3 sons and each one was different. Your body knows what to do. 😊
Nice Job Tina Yong You're Gorgeous and You A Great Mother
This is an awesome video. I wish I had all these info when I was pregnant with my child.
Same here...
@@mommashawna707 lol, I am a writer myself. Enjoy your weekend hun 😁
I definitely want a doula!
Will Chantel fly to America and be my doula?! 😭 I love her energy
crying at the image of someone using a scooper if you poop during waterbirth
Heyyy Tina 🤍🤍🤍 we miss you so much already 🥰♥️
I’m really considering having another baby just so I can have an amazing doula!
Very interesting to learn some of this, thank you 🙂
Your Doola was/is amazing!
Can you do a q&a about how your body has changed after birth and if anything has made you subconscious?
I’m not sure if you have a video on this already/-but how did you choose a doctor, hospital, ob, etc???
This vlog is really informative. 😊 Thanks for this.
In Brasil we're told to not wash the hair after birth too! ahahahahaha
I wish philippines have doulas to support mothers🥰
Is there a link to purchase the TENS machine?
I need part 3 please...
Sadly not everyone could afford one.
*edit ne prepared to have trouble going to the toilet the first few days.
My goodness I love her! 😭♥️
Check out kyline alcantara, you really look like her! she's known as an actress
Can you please tell about stratch marks for pregnancy and how to reduce and what are you using for this from 3th trimester plz help me 😕😕🙏🙏🙏
I'm from the Caribbean and I've been told to not wash my hair.. I think it's just an old time thing.
Wow.. What an Amazing 💖 Thanks for Sharing 🌈 Stay Connected 💓
I’m always scared for birth most about seeing blood. It’s not common for mothers to faint from the blood right?
You won't really see much blood. All of that is out of your view and when it comes to delivery, at least from my experience, there really isn't anything you really care about except the delivery. You won't care how many people are in the room. You won't care if your completely naked, nothing at all will take your focus away from delivering your baby. So, there is always a possibility, but I really don't think any amount if blood would bother you. Think of it this way, it is just a really heavy period.
@@llewisdolphins thank you! This helps me feel better about having children in the future
I have a uh it's like my kinda aunt I guess(I'm actually a Filipino and I don't know what's the English of it so excuse me) and she is pregnant for like 2 mos now and can you give us moree tipss uhh and I hope it's a girl too😃
Insert ( but whatever gender it is, it Will be acceptable ✨✨
One question: can u still remember how it felt when u gave birth and how *down there* felt?
@@llewisdolphins thank you for the answer, beautiful message there that the pain is insignificant to the blessing you’re given afterwards 🥹
I'm curious how many clients a doula can take on at once? what if they both go into labor at the same time!!
There’s usually another backup doula you meet with beforehand in case that happens
🤔since it's a longer process, I guess it's easy to have a couple of people on different stages of the journey: person on second trimester, on third, close to birth, on "fourth trimester". One on each 'slot' already makes 4 moms to work with at once, with low chances of them giving birth at the same time😊
Much respect
👍
How is she like a human form Baymax I feel so comforting just looking at her
💁: Hello, I am Chantel , your personal healthcare companion. On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your pain?

What if poop is soft in water birth

Poop scoop 😂 funny that we literally do that to our pets but when its a human we are like 🤮

Ohhh mommy you poo.... And it is documented on video... Will u upload it? Ha ha Ha ha
LOL i think i might edit it out
@@tina_yong or u just upload it with japanese mask hahaha...
this is a very educational video...
Are there Doulas working in Europe also?
Yes! At least in Spain we have doulas and midwives. In many instances, midwives do the work of a doula. You can get your standard midwife when you go to the doctor (one gets assigned to you) but also there are specialised services for non medicalised births, always as long is a low-risk pregnancy
Can i just import chantelle to South Africa? 😉
It's sad that here we have to shave if not the midwife does it.. My friend works as a midwife in the hospital
I... I think I found my dream job...
Wow, in Germany no doctor would push you in some medication. 😮
Just the opposite...every doctor would advise you to try it out without medication. Very interesting how healthcare differs from country to country.
