You guys are so creative and talented ! Loving seeing what you come up with ! We Just posted a video announcing buying our school bus! If you can please go check it out, we are so excited to start this journey! You have been one of our inspirations to start this crazy skoolie ride so thank you!!
Wess is the absolute master of roof lifting. He is great at all things mechanical.... roofs are his crown jewel.
Looks great guys. You may also try spraying intercooler/radiator out with a little hot water and soap. You will be surprised how much dirty water washes out. The side louvers should make huge difference.
Chris-maybe follow Wess out to Callie and make your calls out there. LOL. I'm hooked especially since you are nearing the work on the interior. Man in the old days folks watched tv. Now we choose our tv stars! I love choice!
I've really enjoyed this video series! This one definitely put a smile on my face this morning.....I'll be seeing you soon brother!
Hey Chris way to go so happy to see you getting the bus finished sad to see Wess go
Wonderful of Wes to help out! Such a great bloke 😘
Such a pleasure watching the progress on this build. Thanks for bringing us along Chris. Wes will be missed, what a good guy.
I was just going to post the same thing. You and Wes working together would make a great channel!
Thanks so much guys....we have a great time and work very well together. We'll see what the future brings!
Wes your truly a great Craftsman . How did you learn how to do all you know how to do guy ? How did Chris find you to work on his bus ? Chris & you work great together . Have a safe & enjoyable trip to California . What job will you be doing out there ? Is it to work on some one elsses bus conversion ? I love the beautiful tile job you did in your bathroom on your motor home . Have you had any grout cracking issues traveling over any rough roads ?
I'm glad to see yall using horses. Nice job fella's.
Looking really good! Yup when it’s painted you will feel like you one big step closer! I know that how I felt yesterday when I finished with the outside of my bus. Now to the inside hoping to be done in a few weeks. Happy trail Chris and Wess!
Wess put in a ton of work and did a splendid job. The bus looks amazing.
Thanks Super Wes for all the hard work
Chris. You are a lucky dude to have a friend like Wess, and the nice folks that let you stay with them for your build. Keep up the hard work. It wont be long and you will reap what you sow.
this is the coolest and best bis build ive ever seen. awesome..
You are very lucky, Wes is an amazing Craftsman.
What a coincidence watching this vid. I just got home from a trip to Bend, Oregon and I noticed my engine temp rising and falling a bit like you just explained. I couldn't figure out why, but now it makes sense. I just may make some louvers for mine as well. Thanks for the tip!
All of you guys are awesome. I can't wait to see the finished bus.
Watching Wes paint took me back to my body shop days, I was a painters helper. I did some painting in my day. Your bus is looking great. Again Wes did a great job.
Wow! Wess is unbelievably clever. I'm amazed at just how super talented and creative he is. He's so hardworking - He gets so much done in a day and he appears to work tirelessly.
Chris, you are super amazing too. I love your videos and your commentary is excellent and beautifully done, as is the editing. You explain things so well and I love the birds-eye camera shots and the close-up angles. I'm thinking how on earth did you manage to get that amazing elevated view of the converted school bus (skoolie) and the surrounding area?
One thing that really impressed me is in all the footages that I've watched so far (I'm a new subscriber since today) I've not heard any bad language used...Yaay!
Great job guys! I am jealous over the rear rack. I hope that hail storm missed you guys.
about the scoops : think it will help if you open up the top of the engine bay lid on the rear of the bus , the vacuum created behind the bus when driving likely will draw cool air in from below the bus and the hot air out of the compartment that gets trapped near the ceiling , it should help lower the temperatures inside the enginebay
if those scoops work its a good solution if not you could allso add one or more big electric fans driven of a coolant temperature switch
West is the man!
What a beast!!! Its wonderful u and g will love it on the road... great job u 2👍👍👍 wess is very talented...
Every new video is such a delight to see Chris...Always my best to ya man!
👌👍😎✌🏻
Man really helped you get this project going faster
Very nice work and conversion looking great. Very nice
And im still working on my bus conversion got some electrical to do and just got our four hundred watt solar panels in the mail so have to do that and little bit of plumbing to do put in the hard wood flooring and make four storage space for under the bus so i think that is it.LOL but I'm trying to get all of this done by the end of January because i want to be in the Florida keys by Valentine's day for our 32 wedding anniversary so will I get it done in time. And im still fighting the fight against the big C word.
Wow, The bus is looking great. I'm going to miss Wess but I'm sure not as much as you will. Hope he enjoys his trip to California. Safe travels Wess. 😎👍
Man, I'm going to really miss seeing Wess in these videos Chris! Either way I know you're videos will still be great! Thanks to you both for really giving us a good reference in several areas of our bus conversion! We are doing a very similar deck but ours will be on the back of the bus. Also I love that back rack you guys did! You're bus is really coming together man and it is just looking great now! Our best wishes to Wess on his travels also. DIDGE ON BROTHER!!!!! Sending positive energy to both of you fellas!
Wes is going to be missed on your channel. I've enjoyed watching his skills in all the ironwork he did on your bus. The quality and dedication he put in day after day is extremely good.
It’s been fun following along during this build. Thanks for all the video work!
Looking good Chris & Wes
Very eager to hear how the louvers do when driving. Great idea.
Hay guys this is one hot looking schoolie in fact it's one kind. The hard work is paying off it's going to be one hot looking schoolie!
Looking good ! ! One day at a time.
Really cool, gentlemen! Well done.

The transformation is amazing. Now I can't wait to see what you and Jim are up to on the interior.
Thanks for replying back to my question, know you are beyond busy. The bus is looking Great and will be awesome when done. Ms. G will be amazed. Wonderful work, you two are good working together.

Wes the fixes you come up are brillant. How does that mind of yours work. :) I also have enjoyed watching and will miss the vibe the whole mojo of the build. Most are ignorant to the art of welding, those beads on the back of the bus sweet. :) peace
Guys the bus is looking amazing. :)
You and Wes make a great team. I see a potential motorhome build out partnership in your future 😃 Also, exactly what type of real estate calls are you making? I'm not on any other social media, so I'm in the dark as far as your other businesses are concerned.
NoProGoPronto. I agree
Man, your channel. Im always looking forward to a New video. Sorry Wes is leaving. Safe travels to him. Keep up the good work.
Wes will be missed.
Wow, so interesting!
Top notch work you guys! Great plan and teamwork. This is how to do it right! Take care. Safe travels.

Chris,

Wes is finished and moving on. What you gonna do? Are you stayimg put there in CO? Lots of work remaining. Whats your next project?
Chris if at some point you still have heating problems on long hills it is easy set up a water
misting system its not hard not expensive and worth the time it knocked my last back about
20 to 25 degrees f
GRUMPY OLD MAN WITH A BUS
Looking good
Nice
New subscriber. Your bus looks interesting.
Granny fan
Looking good man!
Nice idea with the forced air intake louvers
good work guys!
Those louvers look kind of like shark gills!
Great work
I would be looking at cooling system instead of puttin louvers on. I have rear engine 8.3 never had cooling issue on grades. Its side mount radiator runs 180 to 195 up steep grades but i also dont try to bury pedal and roll at 70-75 , it maintains 62-68 up with issues or cooling problems depending on if pulling trailer. Never had to do anything extra other the normal pm to 343k other then run on centrifuge wmo for past 300k or so.Would be lookin more into cooling system failures and fans/switches then adding Band-Aids IMO.Been making this same cooling setups for a very long time now and still in todays buses which don't have any problems climbing grade in wind or no wind.
good luck with 👀🤔🐕🛠💪🇺🇸✌
Gidder done
Congrats guys, nice job. So Chris, is the bus going to be completely white in the end or just the roof and back?
Did you hire a conversion company or is the build posse your friends who volunteered to help with the project?
Is the diesel compartment open...so the louvre‘ s flow goes through? I assume it does. Can you direct the air flow into the radiator?
Any special reason you didn't remove the rain covers on the windows like Wes did? I wonder if they might create a whistle at highway speed? The bus is coming along and looks great.
I know goodbyes are just part of life and living, but I will never get used to it.. it's why I don't have friends.. they leave and there you are again..
The motor side vents might bring in a lot of rain water !!
What color is the bus going to be?
Just curious what the overall height of the rig is with the empty storage bin on top.
Chris, I may have missed it but just for fun, did you name your bus yet?
Bus is looking amazing👍🏽. Being in the process and having driven a rear engine bus and from your research is a rear engine bus the best choice? Would love to hear some discussion on this topic. Thank you in advance😃
I'm digging Wess's bus. It looks like a rear engine but the engine is in the front. I've never seen one of those. This appears to be the best of both worlds since the normal front engine buses have less interior space.
The louvres do look great but will water being directed it bother anything
Have you checked to make sure your not going to be over height? ICC regs say 13ft 6 in.
so some things we need to keep a eye on that may pop up
back facing Glass in window on roof facing into the wind . good size bug could take out the glass
AC / LP box on back of bus does not meat DOT standers so rear bumper needs to be mod to come even with the box so it does not hurt truck drivers in crash
need to see GVWR on each tire and bus as a hole to make sure no tires are over loaded before adding the inside work as this work can be moved around to move the load where you need it
other then that it looks really nice
Speaking as a school bus driver who handles these rear engine babies daily, those louvered vents are great because they will bring in a ton of air, but because I have driven them in winter, are they removable for winter months? The engine does need to build some heat to run properly, and it seems like in winter they might be counterproductive, maybe not.
That is a great thought Greg.....we'll have to keep an eye on it as the weather cools down. Thanks for the insight!!
Do front engine buses have this problem of too much cold air on the engine in winter?
They can. But you can also limit the cold air coming in if need be. A lot of school buses don't have to run in extreme conditions either. It just depends on how much driving and moving you do. A school bus doesn't have the issues involved with people living in them. Some school buses never heat up in winter. Big difference in a 30 min ride in a coat and hat and gloves and riding in one full time. Of course they also have heat systems in bus builds for living that don't need the heat coming off the engine.
Maybe you could get a used vent panel from a bus graveyard to swap out in winter, if it poses a problem. Paint it up and pop it in under bus storage ready to go and Bob’s your uncle! Might switch them out if driving in a heavy downpour too...might be too much water intake? Ps: bus is looking fantastic!
Which way does the belt driven radiator fan blow on Chris's rig? I think mine, a 2000 Thomas MVP ER, blows the air out the vented door, but I'm not sure. I'll have to check. It seems to be a poor design, especially when dirt builds up between the Rad and CAC. I'll do whatever I can to make it cool better. Your louver idea may help. Would like the test results Chris!
What Gauge sheet metal where you using on the vents?
Chris. How close is the ride, of. Your. Bus. To. A motor home. And w your say gas or D...
Hey Chris ( & G + Kobuk ), The conversion is looking great. I was wondering if Wes used an etching primer on any of the metal work he built? Later...
I used an automotive epoxy primer.
@Transcend Existence - Thanks! Did you make it to Cali ? How's it going ?
What part of Colorado is that?
Hey Chris - that railing looks pretty high on the roof, is it going to fit under low-overpasses on back roads?
It folds down when in transit.
chris, what is the total height of the bus now? it looks taller than a semi.
👍🏻👍🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What are the costs for painting process and labor? Need to do some myself.
I know you may have mentioned before, what is the total watts of your solar?
How does roof rack works when in transit? Guess we’ll see when it’s all done 👍🏽👍🏽
It folds down.
Jet okay..
What town, state are you got in. It looks like your many miles from nowhere
I would love to taste G
...would be tough after my boy Chris rips your tongue out...cheers...
sykwookiee I’d let him watch me lick her stank star and please her! Do you think I’m a monster?
@@BodhiBodesSchuyler no...not a monster...just a disrespectful little man that feels the need to make "edgy" "shocking" comments to make himself feel better about his pathetic existence...why don't you try something like, "G is an attractive young lady and Chris is fortunate to have her"...see? Same implied notion without the offensive content...what say ye?
sykwookiee nah nothing like jacking it to her doing yoga
👍😎✌
hope you dont drive that thing under a bridge
that's funny fogot to press record I get it, I comment as I watch or I will never remember what I wanted to say (hence so many of them) age is a bitch.:) ok back to it.
