Why does Rey need to be on the dark side to join Kylo? It was heavily implied from what Kylo was saying that they should be neither Light nor Dark, but Grey. They should become the middle road, the good guys against the blind extremes of both the Republic and First Order.
That is what I thought too. She could try to be good within an evil organization. She might even convince herself it is the only way to improve things. She would be working for evil, but wouldn't see herself as evil, but as just doing what is necessary... Like evil people do...
@@Carewolf Despite his pure evil act of slaughtering younglings, even Anakin's fall wasn't an immediate "I'm evil now". He gets his first taste of the dark side during war times when his promotion to full Knight from Padawan and can fully embrace his aggressive tendencies without a master constantly watching and guiding him when he goes too far (he does his first force choke during this period) and then as he grows stronger still towards the end he gets visions of his beloved secret wife dying and is convinced that by doing terrible things like killing children and turning on the Jedi Order he will be able to save her from dying as it has been implied that Sidious/Palpatine can use the Force to prevent death. He was able to justify his actions right up until it was too late to go back. Not much justifying after you kill children, but by then you've already killed children and can't just decide not to go along with your plans.
to be fair, the concept ain't bad, it's how they executed it. If Palpatine just stayed dead and Rey found out in Episode 8 she's a descendent of Palpatine which explains her force powers, then they could've dabbled with Rey struggling to stay in the Light when finding out about where she came from pretty much drags her closer to the Dark. Like that would be interesting and make it easy to root for Rey! Instead, we had female John Cena in a Star Wars trilogy, and not John Cena when he was cool, but after WWE went PG and Cena just became the perfect product that never loses. That is what Rey became, and it's a damn shame cause Daisy is a really good actress, hell the whole cast is, but Disney just did not care about making a memorable and interesting trilogy.
During that scene I thought that's what they were building toward, and thought "oh this is suddenly becoming a good movie!" Then she turned him down with no explanation and I lost interest again.
@Brandon Goodman I wasn't trying to suggest that she would do it for romantic reasons, no that hadn't occurred and wouldn't have fit. More like, Luke being an asshole to her would lead her to conclude that she could learn how to fulfill her potential by following a different path, not jedi or sith. That's what, for a sec, I thought the movie was building toward and could have earned my respect
an alteranative branch: the movie goes as usual, except in the end an alliance between Rey and Kylo in revealed. their plan is to manipulate the First order and the Resistence into a situation where they'll both be wiped out. it might involve a self-destructing planet or something. thus, they'll kill the past, literally. however, in order to pull that off they have to get rid of everyone smart enough to figure out their plan. The ninth movie, therefore, is the movie where for the first time in history, the people of the galaxy turn against the Force users.
MY BIG BIG ISSUE WITH THIS TRILOGY, is that the logic of Johnson's story pointed to Rey joining Kylo. She's looking for a family. She's abandoned by her real parents, loses Han and rejected by Luke. When Kylo offers her his hand and says she means something to him. What reasons does she have to say no? He's offering everything her character wanted over two films.
Exactly what I thought! I was shocked when she said no, I was looking forward to her joining him. Could you imagine all the commotion and theories that would come out after? Would have been a freaking awesome twist!
Just imagine, Rey struggling to meet with the expectations of Luke. Luke tries to train her to not be a good Jedi but a good person, but she continues to feel the call to the darkness. To add, Leia should have died instead of that stupid Mary Poppins scene. Now to continue; instead of Luke standing over Ben in his sleep, it is revealed Ben was corrupted during his training by Snoke and has been corrupting the rest of the students, thus explaining the Knights of Ren. Ben begins to raid Luke's Jedi Temple, and he and his uncle fight, to the point where Luke knocks him down, about to kill him, but he couldn't do it, thus allowing Snoke and Ben to burn the Jedi Temple to dust. Believing that Ben can be redeemed, Rey leaves as she did in the movie. When she chooses not to heed Luke's warning, she goes to Kylo Ren, trying to turn him from the darkness, but joining him in his prospect of letting the past die. But is all hope lost? As Yoda once said... "There is another." We could even have a parallel of that scene where Luke senses Rey's fall, saying "That girl was our last hope." "No, there is another." Meanwhile, we cut to Finn who is still in his coma state because there was no way he should have recovered from his injury. He begins seeing visions of his past, of places he never been before, and Phasma coming for him. At that moment, he awake. He goes with Poe on a spy mission, discovering Phasma managed to infiltrate the Resistance, and that they are all in great danger. Finn would be trying to reach Rey but Poe presumed she is with Luke, but Finn could sense something's not right. Phasma managed to capture Finn, Poe, and the Resistance people along with Leia, where they all Rey stands alongside Kylo Ren. Rey would tell Finn that now is time to let the past die, that they could start a new Order. Finn would refuse, and Rey would leave with Kylo Ren, who demands them all to be executed. At that moment, Luke would show up, activating his green lightsaber and freeing the Resistance leaders while showing his raw power, allowing them to escape along with a massive battle. In the battle with Phasma, Finn loses his weapon, and Phasma could mock Finn, telling him he would always be FN-2187, a mere bug in the system. He strains to reach his weapon, and it moves the rest of the way to his hand, and he cuts down Phasma. Luke could fight both Rey and Kylo Ren, trying to convince them but failing as they both believe in their views, leading to him cutting off the arm of the former, and grabbing his father's lightsaber. When the Resistance gathers, Luke who is still alive senses the growing Force Sensitivity into Finn. In episode 9, Finn starts feeling more sympathy for even Kylo Ren, and he struggles to redeem both Ben and Rey.
@@RyanTheDark Imagine if THIS instead happened: Sorry Ben but the era of the God Killers have arrived and... you must join them IN DEATH!!!!!!!! (Sounds Doom Music as ULTRA VEGITO THE GOD KILLER ARRIVES)
The kind of expectation subversion that would've worked, since it makes logical sense with respect to the narrative, yet it defies tropes. The third movie could've been about Reylo remaking the First Order into something positive, with the Resistance taking the role as terrorists.
@Adrijana Radosevic Han wasn't Rey's only reliable person in life. He just got Finn the same day. And even then TLJ was about self-discovery as to what would drive someone like Ben to do such things.
Damn it!! Everytime I listen to a Fanscription I always want to watch the movie you talk about but then I realize that I cant!!!! How are you making these so good? Great job Rob and Walter 👍
Pennywise (yawns, stretches): “Well, time to terrorize a new generation of children.” (Shotgun slide is racked, somewhere in the darkness) Georgie: “Hello, Pennywise. I still want my balloon, Pennywise.”
I had the same thought about how this would have gone and low-key believe that it should have but what I saw it coming to was more like Rey and Kylo on the run going to major Force sensitive places (Dark Rey on Mustafar) expanding upon their dynamic from TLJ in exploring what balance means 🤔 Hux takes control of the First Order and makes it his mission as Supreme Leader to hunt them down using the Knights of Ren while Finn and Poe set out to "save" Rey so she can in turn save the Resistance in the Rise of Skywalker/Sidious.
The biggest what if is by far Finn and his arcs potential that was squandered. An absolute travesty that his character got relegated to clown status by the end of TFA. Last Jedi was a kick in the wound further in an already terrible movie
@@davidsiegel6982 never said it was. I found the Last Jedi personally to be lacking in storytelling and ability to portray meaningful character development. Every arc or side mission is utterly pointless or not interesting for me. I also found the movie had an incredibly tough time figuring out how to even approach itself. Killing off Snoke, sending Finn and Rose on a fruitless task, never expanding on who Poe is, why Rey is advancing as a Jedi quicker than everyone else, etc. The movie in many ways didn't work imo and I place it at the bottom of my Star Wars list easily.
Forget "if Rey joined Kylo", I've wanted to see what it'd be like if they'd SWITCHED. Rey kept falling more and more into anger and other dark emotions throughout the movie while Kylo seemed to be softening and leaning more toward contrition and redemption, it would've been awesome to have that sudden switch. Might've made a crap movie into something great.
Holy shit exactly There were so many fucking chances for the sequel trilogy to be unique fresh and compelling yet they had the deus ex machina bullshit again
Still makes me upset. The movie sets them up TO SWITCH. Both doubt their masters and their side. Both literally say "I saw that you are the one to turn" There is the opportunity for both of them to be right. And it's wasted.
I like this. It brings "balance to the Force" just as Qui-Gon Jinn predicted in the prequel trilogy, only in a way he could not have imagined. But Disney would never do this. It would be too anticlimactic and confusing, they would say, to end one of the trilogies on this note. Even if there were a fourth trilogy, this one would always feel unfinished.
This is pretty much what I wanted to see too. Rey turned to the darkside, Snoke survives because he can cheat death (Because he was Darth Plagueis) and causes Leia's death which in turn causes Kylo to ally himself with the Rebels and turn towards the lightside and now he must save Rey. Then after they both are on the lightside they take on Snoke.
Up until "Rey reveals that's the long play" to turn Kylo, your outline was so compelling and refreshing. Just like my favorite moment in The Rise of Skywalker is Rey force-zapping Chewbacca's shuttle which comes so refreshing and bold (which sadly only to end up a fake-out).
What if when Rey challenges kylo to kill leia, and his swing stops short. She calls him a coward and uses the force to push his lightsaber through leia, and leia vanishes as rey fully commits to the dark side. Kylo is sent into a rage and they have that big epic lightsaber battle as Rey points out how this battle is just an expression of kylo's weakness. In arguing and battling with her he discovers that he's changing to be on the light side of the force. Kylo is losing as Rey fully excepting the dark side increases her strength and so kylo runs to search for a way to stop the destructive force he's brought about. She pursues but kylo manages to evade her and finds the thrown room. And there stands Luke with lightsaber in hand ready to strike kylo down. Kylo pulls out his saber and says "please, help me" and Luke is visibly confused. Just then Rey shows up and Luke locks eyes with her, he can see shes not the same. She screams that kylo had killed leia and luke becomes furious and is poised to strike kylo but luke pauses. He can sense it, that's not the truth. Luke points at Rey and says "no, you've killed her". Kylo and luke are struggling to hold her back. Luke pulls a trick on rey and strikes one of her eyes, weakening her enough that kylo can work on stopping the army marching forward. As luke and rey fight they tall about her leaving the light side, but rey refuses to open up and lashes out at luke over his own problems and then tries to escape. Luke keeps on her tail, but eventually loses track. He gives up and meets back up with kylo in the thrown room and kylo is realizing that stopping the fleet is impossible. Luke suggests that they dont stop the ships but reprogram them, change the objective. Kylo finds that it is possible and reroutes the destructive force into empty space. Kylo and luke are glad to be alive but still unsure of where they stand with eachother, but are willing to tolerate eachother enough to become leaders of the rebel force. The empire falls on the shoulders of hux as rey seeks solitude to focus on honing her abilities with the dark side of the force. And episode 10 is a decade later when rey is some kinda reality altering wizard
It really isn't in Rey's nature to be evil at all but she was tempted by the dark side and did little to resist it. So somewhere in the middle would be nice, like a grey jedi, someone who wants above all to do the right thing but embraces every side of the force they can
What If Leia died in The Last Jedi? This could have save the movie and the trilogy because of the passing of Carrie Fisher but nope. Rian Johnson pulls out a cheat code so Leia will survive. *Facepalm* Had Leia died on the space, she becomes one with the Force. Both Luke & Kylo senses her death as the latter found himself alone full of sadness and regret. He killed his father Han and now, his mother is gone. And this is where the ghost of Anakin Skywalker appears to Kylo to reveal the cost of turning to the Dark Side and reflected his painful emotions of himself to Kylo. And this would lead Kylo back to the Light.
What if Kylo instead joined Rey in returning to the light? Let general Hux redeem himself and be a decent non force using villain, be about more interesting then what we've currently been gettin.

I started tearing up near the end and then I legitimately was pretty much crying at the end. That's some good ass anime style writing you just did that I've always said main line stories could be using.
Do i watch starwars: No Do I have an interest in starwars: nOo UA-cam recomended: What If Rey Joined Kylo Ren In The Last Jedi? C'mon youtube. Love you Doug
Another option: Rey and Kylo become the evil power couple, and instead, it’s Finn that is discovered as a Force user, who is the underdog that has to train twice as hard to take out the naturally gifted Rey and Skywalker trained Kylo. You effectively turn the Star Wars Skywalker trilogy into “Creed”.
I really think in the movie he should have started off speaking in his British accent like most Imperials and first order do and switch to American when trying to convince people that he was in the resistance that would have been cool
Actaully!!! I pictured something similar with variations. Rey would have begged him to spare the resistance and make an agreement. He would have agreed...and they would have ruled with a balance of Rey as the light and Kylo towards the dark, in essence balancing each other out until Rey helped turn Ben to the light side... A final showdown between them would have resulted in them coming together to defeat the Sith and Palpatine. Funny that I pictured Rey as a bright force if she would have taken kylo's hand with the condition that he saved the resistance. I definitely would have had a light romance between them and would have let Ben live at the end.
I want to believe he did survived but we didn't see him. After All, his spark was supposed to be Indestructible, only an insane amount of Energon could rip it apart (what Depth Charge did to Rampage)
@@EMTeves Yeah I've seen some fan made stories saying how he survived and he went back to the Ark for the rest of his days to guard the Autobots and Decepticons.
Wait, you just made me realized in the Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine outlived Skywalker since all the Skywalker bloodline is wiped out, but Rey as a Palpatine carried on. At this pace, who's to say she will not turn to the dark side again someday in the future?
I thought Kylo Ren’s offer was to create something new. Wasn’t that the idea? Tear it all down? No dark side. No “light side”? The creation of something new? I would have loved if she took his hand, and the third movie was more political. Kylo Ren and her trying to navigate the creation of a new government as they balanced the two sides of the force and we go more intro their psychology. Granted that looks nothing like traditional Star Wars, which is why it looks like we’re just getting more of the same next movie. That was wht I was disappointed Rey turned him down. It was her saying, “nope. Just the usual Star Wars tropes”
6:15 I've gotta agree with him, there aren't many female bad guys I've run into and they can be quite awesome as the villain. It's one of the reasons why in my manga, the main bad guy is a girl and I'm setting up a tradition that the main hero and villain are gender opposites with exceptions. It's not for messages or patriarchy shit though, I just want to make a unique tradition for my writing style. Plus it can lead to some really cool designs.
You guys should have done what if Rey went to the dark side and Kylo went back to the light I think that would make a good movie where Kylo breaks down because of his bonds to his family and Rey when she came from no where has no family joins the dark side.
I respect your opinion on the films (though I disagree with it), but purposely mistyping Rian Johnson and J.J. Abrams’ names is immature and doesn’t make you look very good.
Personally if someone is rewriting TLJ and they think getting rid of Rose entirely instead of reworking her is the best case scenario. They aren't even fit to write my little pony fan fiction imo. She had character potential and outside of poe and Luke carried TLJ if you watch TLJ without seeing TFA 90 percent of the characters make no sense or seem to have just showed up for a paycheck. Rose was fleshed out as foawed as she was. Incel Kylo, Trump Rope Snoke, Martini sipping holdo, man bacta tanks really damage brain function Finn, and Vanilla Rey were terrible.
That would have required The Force Awakens to be a good setup.. It wasn't.. TLJ didn't stand a chance, it could never be a good movie, to win it had to go the other way, and be the worst.
The Last Jedi would have been a great movie if Rey would have joined Kylo Ren and turned to the dark side. This would have allowed Luke to be the one that rescued the resistance from the cave with a renewed sense of purpose, motivated to train Finn (who is force sensitive) to be a Jedi to save Rey. 1) This would have been the major payoff for the relationship driven story line between Rey and Kylo and the disconnect between her and Luke 2) This would have moved Finn story arc in a significant way. It also would be pay off for the set up in Force Awakens while still fitting his overall motivation to save Rey and find purpose. (Imagine if Leia told Luke: “There is another one”) 3) Kylo would be poised to be the big baddie in episode 9. 4) Luke is still alive and has a proper character arc where he starts off aloof but by the end he is determined to be engaged. He is the old Luke we were all hoping for.
Honestly, I think the best option would to keep them down a middle road Maybe they dip a bit into the dark side, but they struggle to keep it balanced as they do their thing and try to get the first order under their control while also trying to defeat the rebels. You could ask some moral questions there and build on Kylo and Rey and how they may clash or bond. Dunno specifics, but I wasn't in the chair when the last Jedi was made.
I heard a dope little fan fiction idea that Rey could have joined not only because she's interested in the "No Jedi, No Sith" but also to spare the Resistance. Kylo promises her that and he orders the First Order to stand down. The First Order (Snoke, Hux, whoever) figures out Kylo has other plans which don't involve the Sith/First Order so they attempt to hunt him down as well as Rey. So together they attempt to find their place while the big bad remains to be Snoke and Hux. Idk something like that would have been very interesting to see, however I fail to see how Finn and Poe could have tied into that arc and how they would react to Rey.
Interesting take guys and another fun concept. One thing I’d just like to chime in with is that while yes it would be another redemption story arc i would have liked to see a double turn in last Jedi. Rey goes dark while Kylo goes light. Here if you kept snoke alive you can have him turn Rey while discarding Kylo ( remember what the prequels said about how there’s always one master one apprentice) once Rey leads the attack against the resistance, Kylo would come to the aid of his mother paying off the scene from earlier. That leaves an interesting dynamic in the next movie where Kylo May have to deal with some consequences of his prior actions ( namely nobody trusting him ) while also giving the movie a big theme of forgiveness as the resistance and Leia have to forgive him for killing Han Solo, Kylo has to learn to forgive Luke ( we can keep him alive in this version), and Luke has to forgive Rey for giving into the temptation of the dark side.
I definitely would’ve preferred this to end the Skywalker Saga, the Jedi continue on, but without the Skywalkers, and with a new government or whatever for the Galaxy that isn’t the Republic cause similar to what Leia said here, it’s clear after the Empire and First Order that a Republic with a Skywalker meant to protect it might as well have been a jinx on the galaxy, the second time maybe being even worse here since Rey’s long game method to take the First Order down seemed to have cost more lives than Luke and the Rebellion’s did with the Empire, so maybe this time with a clean slate, things will go better Too bad that’s not how it went down in real life so get ready for this possible new trilogy with Rey to end with yet another version of the Empire taking over and taking out Rey’s new Jedi Order people
If MaRey Sue took up Kylo's offer, she would usurp him from his position of power in the first order, become the supreme leader but keep Kylo around because hes a hot guy who would serve her in any and every way, as would Poe and Finn, because shes just so gosh darn perfect for being beautiful, super talented and mastered every dark side power while adding some new ones in, revive Han Solo via midichlorian influencing like Darth Plagueis did when he was relevant, then the story would end with Kylo and MaRey Sue macking on each other while enjoying her reign that everyone loves because shes so damn perfect. Rey isn't allowed to lose, fail or struggle, or exist in a reality where shes seen as undesirable or someone that can possibly be hated. Theres a reason 2/3 of the voters on video topic chose Anaking being raised by Qui-gon, that would be an ACTUAL game changer. The only difference between light side Rey and dark side Rey is an outfit.
My Opinion: It kills Leia Organa and the rest of the good guys. Except Finn. In him she feels the force. Luck feels Organas dead. It tells yodas force ghost that he will end it. He will kill Kylo and then himself. In the next film, she tries to shape Finn according to her wishes. Kylo gets jealous of how much time she spends on Finn. Your ideas are always better received by officers than Kylos. In the meantime, Luck tries to put together a team. During a space battle there is a confrontation between Kylo and Rey. Rey kills Kylo and takes command of the fleet. With their orders, the battle turns in favor of the new order. (You may find a simple counterattack against the holdo maneuver. An explanation of why the maneuver was never used in the past, e.g. a tractor beam which disasters such a maneuver) 80 +% of the last film should be about the new order. Backgrounds. How they are pushed back. What the soldiers say about Kylo, Rey and Snoke. etc. When Rey sits on her bridge throne and concentrates on the destruction of the enemy fleet, Luck comes. He burns a way (like in Episode I). Rey is so powerful that Luck can hardly withstand her. One of his team is Lando. He throws a grenade. Rey kills him. But that gives Luck the opportunity to make a final attack. Both die. Since Rey can no longer give orders, the last ships of the first order flee. At the end you can see Finn briefly grabbing a lightsaber with the force. The End.
Before Abrams had decided to bring back the Emperor, my understanding was Kylo was supposed to lead the first order. What you presented here, sounds much better than the film I understand will be released.
Yeah I always thought her blindy refusing was foolish. Keep one hand on the steering wheel. Work from within to keep Kylo to his word. Maybe have a real third party threat appear early on in the film IE The Vong. Then you have a reason for the resistance and the first order to team up mayhaps. Dunno. Either way we'll see if its all for not this week bby!
12:44 say what you want about rey... but SHE CAN'T SAY THAT i mean in the force awakens she cried for finn when he was injured worried that the first friend he had in years is going to die (hell she didn't even care about the destruction of the planet) and at the end of the film she promise him that they will be see each other again, and in the last jedi everytime she is in contact with the resistance she always ask about finn she even said to chewie: "if i don't come back tell finn... (interupted by chewies roar)... yeah tell him that". i mean you could argue that she is doing it to protect him from her conflict, but i don't think a menace like that is implaying that sacrifice, hell you didn't even write a glimpse of showing of regret for saying that (kinda like luke had after cutting his fathers arm AAAAAND thinking of killing ben over paranoia)
Heh, reminds me of what I did in GreedFall. Did all the side quests, companion loyalty quests, got every faction to side with me when fighting the final villain, had a romance... And then I said "RIDE THAT BETRAYAL TO HELL!!" and sided with the villain, killing most of the faction's armies, and both ascending to godhood together. When the villain and I hugged it out at the end, I knew it was the best ending ;-]
I do have to admit I'm not really a fan of the concept where Rey and Kylo die in the end. Also, as much as I'm not fond of Snoke, I think I would've brought him back somehow, perhaps merely as some kind of agent of the Dark Side of the Force. For months after the ending of The Last Jedi, people have also made speculations on the Force itself actually being alive, as in some kind of entity on its own. I think I would've liked to have seen a Star Wars story where the main villain Rey AND Kylo have to fight is actually the Force itself. Furthermore, how about Rey's mysterious past? You remember how Anakin Skywalker was a child of his mother and the Force? What if we had that sort of reveal of Rey's parentage, except that she, very much like Dark Side Villain X (whatever name you wanna give), is actually a living manifestation of the Force, some kind of avatar of the Light, like Dark Side Villain X, who would be an avatar of the Dark?
I love your au, but I'm like THE ONLY PERSON who actually LIKES "The Last Jedi" so I kinda like the og more- but I love seeing your aus, and some I think would be better than the original!
Your idea was cool. I still would rather have Jar Jar binks be the main villain for Skywalker Rises. We need to see Jar Jar get cut in two. And what a twist would it be that the comic relief from episode 1 was the mastermind the entire time.

She also Wasn't pure evil, since she basically got redeemed right before Vader killed her
MY BIG BIG ISSUE WITH THIS TRILOGY, is that the logic of Johnson's story pointed to Rey joining Kylo.
"There is another."
We could even have a parallel of that scene where Luke senses Rey's fall, saying "That girl was our last hope."
"No, there is another."
Meanwhile, we cut to Finn who is still in his coma state because there was no way he should have recovered from his injury.

The kind of expectation subversion that would've worked, since it makes logical sense with respect to the narrative, yet it defies tropes. The third movie could've been about Reylo remaking the First Order into something positive, with the Resistance taking the role as terrorists.

I had the same thought about how this would have gone and low-key believe that it should have but what I saw it coming to was more like Rey and Kylo on the run going to major Force sensitive places (Dark Rey on Mustafar) expanding upon their dynamic from TLJ in exploring what balance means 🤔
Hux takes control of the First Order and makes it his mission as Supreme Leader to hunt them down using the Knights of Ren while Finn and Poe set out to "save" Rey so she can in turn save the Resistance in the Rise of Skywalker/Sidious.
This is awesome but I know Disney won’t do this.
The biggest what if is by far Finn and his arcs potential that was squandered. An absolute travesty that his character got relegated to clown status by the end of TFA. Last Jedi was a kick in the wound further in an already terrible movie
nerdrage557 maybe he should have sacrificed himself because he is a remorseful monster
finn was so boring in TFA.
Verena_fcb8 well everyone was one dimensional in both the force awakens and the Last Jedi
Not fair to say it's a terrible movie, it's not MEANT to be about the original characters
And Finn had to use his lightsaber skills to battle them both! That would be cool.
Palpatine is actually a porg wearing stilts and a human disguise.
That would be a better option.
That would be amazing
Of Course !
Wrong! Snoke was several porgs in a human suit, so in episode 12 he can come back just like Palps just did.
Yes please do that it would be amazing twist.
Holy shit exactly
There were so many fucking chances for the sequel trilogy to be unique fresh and compelling yet they had the deus ex machina bullshit again
Still makes me upset. The movie sets them up TO SWITCH. Both doubt their masters and their side. Both literally say "I saw that you are the one to turn"
There is the opportunity for both of them to be right.

"I haven't seen Rise of Skywalker yet."
Yeah, that'd be a neat trick.
Now why couldn’t this be the real Rise of Skywalker movie?
Up until "Rey reveals that's the long play" to turn Kylo, your outline was so compelling and refreshing. Just like my favorite moment in The Rise of Skywalker is Rey force-zapping Chewbacca's shuttle which comes so refreshing and bold (which sadly only to end up a fake-out).
The movie would have been interesting
Who just saw The Rise of Skywalker?
Meh
Rey is definitely a palpatine, sadly they dont explain how, and she cant join kylo, because he dies by saving her.
What if Syndrome Escaped with Jack-Jack in the Incredibles ?
Liger 27 it would be dark
Just putting it out there. Anakin's transition to the dark side is still more believable.
Ain't lying that would've made the rise of skywalker actually worth watching
It would mean that the movie had a direction to go in for the sequel. Also both characters would be considerably more interesting today.
It really isn't in Rey's nature to be evil at all but she was tempted by the dark side and did little to resist it. So somewhere in the middle would be nice, like a grey jedi, someone who wants above all to do the right thing but embraces every side of the force they can
That wholesale "Last Jedi" needs to be made.
Probs been more of a interesting trilogy
Well done man. Top notch story telling from start to finish. To be honest I teared up there at the end. Fingers crossed for how it actually turns out.
This was the video I realized how much you and Doug really do sound alike
What If Leia died in The Last Jedi? This could have save the movie and the trilogy because of the passing of Carrie Fisher but nope. Rian Johnson pulls out a cheat code so Leia will survive. *Facepalm*
Had Leia died on the space, she becomes one with the Force.

This is exactly the rise of Skywalker I wanted. Thank you very much

Wait, you just made me realized in the Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine outlived Skywalker since all the Skywalker bloodline is wiped out, but Rey as a Palpatine carried on. At this pace, who's to say she will not turn to the dark side again someday in the future?

We might have "A New Hope" for the Rise of Skywalker
That first idea would’ve been pretty damn awesome ngl, but I agree that it would require a whole new trilogy to really flesh out
I thought Kylo Ren’s offer was to create something new.
Kylo: oh what a beautiful monster i made
Palpatine is Rey’s Grandfather calling it
You're not wrong
It seems very likely
Or her and snoke are failed clones of Palpatine
Preston Carter I would have prefer the Darth Plagueis is Snoke theory
Kylo looks like a failed Alan Rickman clone, so i guess Ray being a failed Palpitine clone would kinda fit

A better fanscription would be," What if The Last Jedi was a good movie."
That would have required The Force Awakens to be a good setup.. It wasn't.. TLJ didn't stand a chance, it could never be a good movie, to win it had to go the other way, and be the worst.
This is so much better than TROS
The Last Jedi would have been a great movie if Rey would have joined Kylo Ren and turned to the dark side.
This would have allowed Luke to be the one that rescued the resistance from the cave with a renewed sense of purpose, motivated to train Finn (who is force sensitive) to be a Jedi to save Rey.
1) This would have been the major payoff for the relationship driven story line between Rey and Kylo and the disconnect between her and Luke
2) This would have moved Finn story arc in a significant way. It also would be pay off for the set up in Force Awakens while still fitting his overall motivation to save Rey and find purpose. (Imagine if Leia told Luke: “There is another one”)
3) Kylo would be poised to be the big baddie in episode 9.
4) Luke is still alive and has a proper character arc where he starts off aloof but by the end he is determined to be engaged. He is the old Luke we were all hoping for.
Honestly, I think the best option would to keep them down a middle road
Maybe they dip a bit into the dark side, but they struggle to keep it balanced as they do their thing and try to get the first order under their control while also trying to defeat the rebels.
This is significantly better than the final movie actually ended up being!
I definitely would’ve preferred this to end the Skywalker Saga, the Jedi continue on, but without the Skywalkers, and with a new government or whatever for the Galaxy that isn’t the Republic cause similar to what Leia said here, it’s clear after the Empire and First Order that a Republic with a Skywalker meant to protect it might as well have been a jinx on the galaxy, the second time maybe being even worse here since Rey’s long game method to take the First Order down seemed to have cost more lives than Luke and the Rebellion’s did with the Empire, so maybe this time with a clean slate, things will go better
Too bad that’s not how it went down in real life so get ready for this possible new trilogy with Rey to end with yet another version of the Empire taking over and taking out Rey’s new Jedi Order people
For anyone interested, fanfictions like this exist on Archive of Our Own.
Well I was expecting what if Snoke doesn’t die?
Wow this was so good!
lol "one final embrace"
I can't, that and Lei wielding a saber and using the force to stop them is too goofy for me.
This would have been better than what we got
this sounds better than what it look like its gonna be, wish they would let u write these movies
Your thoughts on the writing process...
well said, sir! Well F***ING said!!😎👍
Y'all keep putting out great content. Greg I'll see you tomorrow
An explanation of why the maneuver was never used in the past, e.g. a tractor beam which disasters such a maneuver)
80 +% of the last film should be about the new order.
The End.
Wow this gave me goosebumps. Wish we got something as thought out
Before Abrams had decided to bring back the Emperor, my understanding was Kylo was supposed to lead the first order.

'Cuz that would be rushed'........Well TROS is anyway, and all of these storylines are better than what we got.
Your idea was cool. I still would rather have Jar Jar binks be the main villain for Skywalker Rises. We need to see Jar Jar get cut in two. And what a twist would it be that the comic relief from episode 1 was the mastermind the entire time.
At some point, I'd like to do a video relaunching the entire sequel trilogy from scratch.
