- Happy Tail Syndrome Syndrome is a very messy ordeal and can be tough to get fully healed. With their long thin tails and strong bodies, Great Danes are especially prone to experiencing Happy Tail. Follow our tips on creating a tail sling to allow for proper healing, and avoid infections and/or potential tail amputation.
If you enjoyed this video and would like more details, we have a more detailed article on our website at greatdanecare.com/happy-tail that covers each step and includes photos.

That's gotta be the cutest syndrome ever
Thank you! Our newly adopted great dane/retreiver mix, Karl, came up with a case of HTS just this week. This worked perfectly until we can get to the vet. I happened to have all the materials right on hand.
Good advice. Here's a more simple solution most overlook. Pool noodle cut long enough to extend past tail end, slide on until snug near base, med tape to hair lightly. They still get happy tail and you and things get a soft beating with the noodle. Been doing it for years. Simple and not traumatic if they chew it off. If chewed, a little bitter spray and your back in business. When baby Danes get older they tend to stop this behavior on their own.
Wonderful idea
I wish you would’ve showed us :( but beautiful dane
It's on his website with photo and instructions
That Dane is gorgeous! So beautiful 🤗
My pitbull swings his tail into everything and it actually hurts if he hits you with it and now it’s just gone limp.
My silver lab has happy tail and it’s the biggest pain ever. Feel hopeless with at this point. We had it fully healed took weeks and then a few weeks later he broke it open again :/
A visual would be helpful. 6 minutes and I'm still not sure what you are doing. Are you basically pulling the dogs tail under it's belly for weeks on end?
Apologies, not my best video! This article (greatdanecare.com/treat-happy-tail-syndrome/) shows what it looks like, but yes the tail is held close to the belly so that it can heal and not be constantly re-injured.
Ohhh look at the cute baby
Why did you stop posting on this channel? Is gus ok?
My pitbulls have this problem
same

How long does it take for happy tail to heal? My dog has it right at the tip, the vet said the only way is to dock his tail, but if I can be more conservative, I'd like to try and help him heal it...
It can take days to weeks as it’s so easy to re-injure. This article has a bit more detail on it as well greatdanecare.com/treat-happy-tail-syndrome/
@@GreatDaneCare thank you for that link! I'll be taping him up tonight, 🤞🤞
How do they urinate without wetting their slinged tail?
Just unclip before they go outside.
my LABRADOR has happy tail!?
Nah bro those bigger dogs for a fricking whip for a tail
The wife's old product wouldn't be Lululemon wld it? Lol
Way to not show an example, real helpful
too much description , time waste . No demonstration .
not true i never even knew about this method before but he has a link to more information.
This is so wrong a dog has it tail between its legs when it's scared it should never be placed there on purpos 🤬
