    I love how you say 'it's nice and easy'....maybe for you :). I have become inspired by your sketches and I have learned to do cloudy skies and simple trees....my drawing is getting better and it's all thanks to you. I have ordered some, well quite a lot of, art materials...worth it in the long run if I can sketch/draw a fraction of how good you are. Subscribed to your channel.

      Cant believe its that long ago that I gave you the "verbal push" to go ahead and let everyone share in your talent , and as for your troll, well just take it as a complement , because if they didn't think you were good at what you do they wouldn't be jealous, and they feed on jealousy....

      +Dave Usher Thanks for the support and advise Dave, its very much appreciated, why anyone would dislike our free video demos when we put so much time and effort into it is beyond me, I had a wonderful comment a few days ago, it said that they had paid $34 for an art tutorial download and they learnt more from my free demos, that says it all really, how anyone could be ungrateful to any of us that post these free demos, they should learn "the attitude of gratitude " or stopping viewing our videos if they object...

    Super nice as always. It's hard to believe that this was created mainly by removing graphite dust that you had sprinkled on the paper in a random manner. The final touches of tree shadows, hint of a fence and the figures make this one tell a nice story for me. I do have to turn up my volume over 3 times the normal setting to hear you but that's not a big deal. I do appreciate you explaining as you go. In my video editing program I find an option to increase the volume so I bet you have the same. I use Camtasia. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 років тому +1

      +TheWindGinProject, Thanks, its deceptively easy to do, graphite powder can produce some lovely effect with very little effort involved. I will turn the volume up for the next one, I'm using an external microphone for the voice-overs as apposed to the built in microphone on the camera that I use for real-time videos, I can bring the microphone closer and turn up the volume in windows movie maker, that should do the trick, Thanks for letting me know the volume was sounding low, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too!

    • @TheWindGinProject
      @TheWindGinProject 8 років тому

      +smoothie77 Thanks & if you want to keep the Mic as is you should be able to do that and just add more volume during editing. I don't want you to change you way of doing things because of my comment.

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 років тому +1

      +TheWindGinProject Its no problem, I also thought the volume was lower than normal, I think I had the mic a foot further away than usual, I'm fairly sure that's what the problem was, is this the first time you've experienced low volume on my videos? I have had a comment a while ago saying similar, My laptop sounds quite load so I gauge the volume level from that, but I am aware it may not be the same level for others, so I very much appreciate your feedback :)

    • @TheWindGinProject
      @TheWindGinProject 8 років тому

      Hi, I have experienced very low volume in all your videos but I just appreciate you doing the narrating in the first place and it's not a big deal to turn up the volume but I do need to turn it up 3 times more than normal. Thanks

      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 років тому +2

      +TheWindGinProject Thanks for letting me know, I will turn the volume level up for the next one, its good to get viewers feedback on these things so I can fix any problems, thanks again.

    Great channel. Love your work and style. I wont to be ble to draw nice landscapes and still life. I am just beginning to draw and I am practicing your style on a smaller scale. Just drawing a few different types of tree and objects, and working on my blending and such at the moment. Plus with a bit of experimentation with different types of supplies. For now I want to stay with graphite and a bit of charcoal. Hopefully soon I will be comfortable with creating a larger and complete landscape.

    Trying this one was a useful reminder to me of the difference between a beginner (me) and and an expert (you). I just couldn't get it to work. I think it was the freeform nature of it - I've got quite good at copying your work, but obviously can't manage creativity on my own yet. Then there was the range of pencils. I think I'm using too wide a range in the same drawing - I've got a B and a 4B, but nothing in between. Still it was useful experience - thanks again. I'll lick my wounds and move onto another tutorial.

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 років тому

      Hi Steve, don't give up, the graphite powder method is an easy one, may take a few attempts to get the hang of it but once you're used to the way the graphite powders blends and erases etc, its a great way to produce this type of scene, if you're struggling with the freeform nature of it use a pencil to draw out the outline/placement of the trees and path etc before you use graphite powder, you might fade out some of the outlines when blending in the graphite powder but you should still be able to faintly see them enough to use them as guidelines, hope this helps.

    • @steveburrow8766
      @steveburrow8766 8 років тому

      Not giving up! Just deciding which one to do next at the moment. I think I've got to get to grips with the freeform side of things though, otherwise I'll spend all my days copying other people's work!

      +smoothie77 Its truly amazing how you created it without any reference! The negative drawing is also a nice idea because you aren´t really "scared" of a white sheet of paper if you want to draw from imagination. You´ve alreay put something on to the paper and to start seams to be easier if you know what I mean...

    That is cool! I'm so going to try a forest scene like this! I was wondering, .. You did one video where you did some quick sun rays. Could you perhaps do more of an in-depth video on how to handle light? With sun rays and maybe fog? Like a morning sun shining through the trees (with leaves) and what to pay attention to regarding light and shadows? Would love to learn that! Love your tutorials, they're so .. calm and pleasant to watch!

    I hate to tell you, but you need to understand. You start your video and throughout the video you say is just a practice, on how to use graphite shavings, that's really just an exercise really, and that's not a finish drawing, but with all the detail that you add to it it does look like a finish drawing!
