In this video I remove the A Pillars in my VW Transporter T5. I also respray them in bright red and refit them.
This is just the start of the paint changes I’ll be doing in the interior as i want to do away the boring VW grey, I hope it inspires you with your own van!

Popping the clips out with the pillar is genius. You've just saved me a lot of crying.
SUBBED. This is just what I needed to see before getting to grips with a double din with mic install. I may even spray my trim too now!
Thanks Russell, glad it’s useful for you 👍
Excellent vid man thank you 👍
I'm thinking of putting grab handles on my pillar's I think by the look of your video the holes are already in situ ,,thanks for video
Another great video keep them coming
Cheers Si looking forward to the defender / T5 off road meet🍻
Great, thanks for that. This is something I need to do.
Any time!
Great job, nice colour match 👍where did you get the plastikote from ?
Good job mate, looks good!
Thanks mate loads better now since I’ve done the rest!
Looks cool Daz, have to do the door cards red too!😊😊👍
PEAKY PART TIMERS thanks 👍 maybe... I’m thinking it may be overkill if I do doors red too lol
Looks sick Bro 👊🏼
Thanks Jon 💪👍
Impressed, mine are covered with a cloth material and is pilling off coz its an old Caravelle VW T5 2005 so want to do your style it's look super and unique. Any advice.
Hi Samuel, yes I went for the unique colours on mine I have never seen another one with red interior like this! The best advice I can give anyone, is take your time and do not rush :)!
@@tubedarren I'm impressed with that red coz it will match with the interior lining and the dash including the brakes calibers it shall be a perfect match, Thanks a lot
This is me. We moved to the PNW and my GLI a pillars are covered in this shitty gray cloth, and it's peeling off constantly because it's moist here, and the car is a 2005. Instead of screwing around with the cloth I am going to pull it off and just paint it to match the dash color
Very helpful, question the upper B pillar covers do you have the part number.
Thanks Hitesh but I’m not a supplier you’ll have to ask VW mate lol
Hi mate I know this video is a few months old now but how well does the plasticote hold up? Did you use a primer? Does it scratch easily? Thinking of spraying my dash too. Cheers
Hi Sam it held out well, the areas I sprayed weren't exactly getting a lot of use except the seat belt pillars which I knocked and chipped a couple times.. nothing major though. I believe plastikote do a hard coat too to protect
@@tubedarren nice one, cheers Darren
Darren what were you thinking 🙈 I usually like what you do to your van but not for me thanks 🙂
Hahaa wait till you see the next update. It’s only looking unusual as the ceilings still grey 😆
😊👍
I can't get the retaining clips lined up right to get them back in, most of it is trying to blindly click them in since they're behind the panel. Any help? I have a GTI, but it looks very similar.
Hi Jessica, on my a pillars there are reference points to where the clips should sit, if you make sure they are in the right place between them before putting it back that should help. I also make sure the bottom clips in first on mine, the trick is to go slowly and carefully 👍
