This was a great refresher for me! I still struggle with smash accuracy and power. My biggest problem is the finger power. So many people in the past told me to just hit it as fast as I can to get the most power. You guys show me that it's not the case. Technique is king :)
You need to fully grasp the concept of acceleration in order to control power. One good way to improve finger strength is to grab a bottled liquid as it’s falling down. Your goal is to catch the bottle using your finger grip. Do it a couple of times a day and you’ll see significant improvements. Best of luck!
When I first started, people told me to flick my wrist when smashing, u get power from the wrist. But then I learnt forearm rotation from u and everything made sense.
Struggling these days with my smash it goes out most of the time. May be covid has a part in it but this on my timeline is a blessing. Thank you coach and stay safe. Lots of love and respect all the way from Pakistan....
Such a nice video to learn about smash, by the way your coaching skills were extraordinary any one can easily learn them from you thank you for this video....from INDIA
Thanks for the details on the grip. 😂 But I know the term hammer grip for a tightened up forehand grip (I mean that's how you hold the hammer), allowing strong pronation. You use the term for what I know as rush grip or panhandle grip (probably due to the resulting hitting action that's kinda like using a hammer). Since it's a video, it's clear, I'm just wondering where this different terminology comes from.
Yes the panhandle is also a word for that, I just think it is different what people use. Some of these "weird" words in badminton are made up words as the game has developed through the years... Its only in recent years I have been teaching in English so are still learning 😃 Thomas
First of all my greetings to Thomas sir, sorry for posting this question here but since it was the most recent video hence I posted here, while holding any kind of grip (forehand grip specifically for smash) should all my fingers rest on the grip or during follow through they can rotate?I am asking this because as a professional badminton player a lot of smashes go with brute power but many times they go with comparatively less power any specific reason?also please tell me the difference in technique between Mavis 350 and as -2 shuttle
Menerjemahkan teks dengan kamera In Indonesian badminton culture, the jump for a smash is not vertical but rather inclined forward so that the shuttlecock is in the ideal position when hit. So the results are fast, fast and sharp in direction
Do you personally rotate your grip slightly (towards hammerhead grip) for a cleaner hit when you smash? Is this normal for the top players to do this too? Thanks
Additionally, should our thumb's end itself be on the wide side of the racket or out in the air(while the middle of thumb presses against wide side of racket handle)?
Just a tip, do NOT always use the power smash. Personally, I use stick smash more than the power smash. I’ll only use the power smash when I have a great opportunity to.

A little hammer grip, thank bro
Your welcome 🙏🏻
If the serve falls on the back box serve is it in or out
In in singles and out in the doubles 😎
Hi sir, can you show detail of how finger grip after or during harder smash ?
Sir i couldn't synchronise elbow movement with the hip movement!...wat can i do!??🤔
Try to “shoot” your hip forward while moving the elbow as well, takes a bit of time to learn🤘🏻
Additionally, should our thumb's end itself be on the wide side of the racket or out in the air(while the middle of thumb presses against wide side of racket handle)?
Thank you Sir.. ur videos are very helpful

@@BadmintonFamly so where should my initial position be in my box? Centre, between T and back corner,or near T ?
Just normal position so you dont show the opponent you know what he will do👌🏻
Right leg down od important for strong smash??
