    I am not sure which grip to use when trying to smash a shuttle which is directly above my head. I can very well play a neat smash using basic forehand grip when I am able to get behind the shuttle, but using the same forehand grip results in a weak smash when shuttle is above my head, one of the reasons I can think is because of less time my forearm doesn't get time to fully pronate. Does this mean there is a different grip for this situation? Please help.

    • @srishkota347
      @srishkota347 5 років тому

    Sir I like playing Badminton very much. I watch videos from your UA-cam channel and practice in the drawing room at home the song techniques you teach like jump smash, slice, drop shot, back hand clear, footwork. My question is, I practice alone in the drawing room. How much time a day should I practice footwork and shots so that I can become good at badminton and win all games!!! Note that I want to learn Badminton as a hobby. Not as a profession. Because I took Maths in Honors 2nd year I am over aged. Your valuable opinion aunty dear sir

    How do you decide to do a full swing (which can become drive, clear, drop or kill) or use short stroke (finger power)? You probably would say speed of approaching shuttle, but we can only choose one. A better question is, why not always use short stroke (finger power) instead of swing...what are its limitations?

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 років тому +2

      It depends on the situation. The soft swing is more precise and relaxed and without using to mich energy, where the shots with finger power is more explosive, bit also more physical.

    So the indexfinger is in the way to create more power. Why is it that we do have the index finger up when we hit backline shots?
    Couldn't you use the finger power on top of the rotational arm movement to generate even more power?

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 років тому +1

      When you push to the grip the index finger “slides” down along the grip so you can tighten more around the grip, but the index finger is still important in order to play precise.

    This is not the most efficient way to generate finger power. Hold the racket loosely so that there is space between the handle and your palm. Then use your last two fingers (pinkie and ring finger) to pull in and rotate the racket, your thumb (forefinger for forehand) is then used to guide and accelerate the racket further before making the shot. The initial acceleration is more powerfully generated by your last 2 fingers as they placed lower along the racket grip and there is more power to overcome racket inertia in a pulling rather than a pushing action. You don't have to believe me, try it yourself and discover.
