Thomas, great, just great. I as a coach and player will work on it. Guide some youngsters and get back to you if I face any difficulty. U r doing gr8 job.
this channel is very helpful for badminton players. Teaching different shots step by step and quick to understand! what a wonderful video please make more videos! :)
Beautifully explained. One of the best videos ever made on this. Kudos for sharing such a detailed video and knowledge. Where is Mr.Ras? Haven’t seen him in a couple of videos.
I’ve tried the backhand many times only hit it once and that was a lucky shot!!! one of my mistakes is the shuttlecock comes towards me, I turn away from it facing the wall then try and hit it without looking where the shuttlecock is going!! I just swing backwards and hope that I hit it :)
Love your videos with clear explanations. I always have problem hitting a backhand shot because i have no idea where my right foot should step behind the shuttle before executing the backhand shot. Is there a simple way to know where the shuttle should drop so that i have the option to decide whether to hit a powerful baseline or dropshot? My problem is i make best with what shot i could hit solely depending on where my racquet foot landed. Thanks for your advice in advance.
Yes it is very tricky to know but also very important to master this. Really try keeping your body back towards the center position so you hit this backhand shot in a defense position. You can also try to stand where you want to stand and then get the lift/shuttle shot towards the corner and then do the shot, but it is tricky to control. Try your best, you can do it! 💪
@@BadmintonFamly you're probably referring to this ua-cam.com/video/PuO5WytTw1w/v-deo.html but it is a different technique. For Luuk, just take this Backhand slice video, hit the shuttle in front of your body (and if possible slightly higher), don't slice it and you have your backhand clear with this technique. I suggest to learn this technique (first) and yes, I did learn both. Two keys for power to get the length for the clear: 1. get your body involved, by starting to rotate out of the corner before hitting 2. strong supination (easy to practice on its own -> rebound of the racket) Good luck!
There is a player at the club I play. Whenever he is pressured in doubles (he's chubby can't run fast) he goes from rear court corner 1 to corner 2 and simply lifts it really high and deep. His lift is with similar posture as shown in this vid When I try to do that my elbow hurts and underlift doesn't go furter than the midcourt. Could you tell me wh
Maybe because you try to hit the shot and not swing your arm, if the elbow needs to do all the power it will hurt, so also important the forearm is rotating around👍🏻
Can I use this in doubles? If I am back court player at 1 corner and I have to go all the way to other corner (let's assume my partner is dumb and forgets to rotate offensive positioning) as other team does offensive drive/clear to that corner. Is it better to just lift back with all force or use this slice to neutralise rally?
We just published a new training program on Badminton Famly+, maybe you should check it out? You seem very interested in our work so i think the platform is just for you👌🏻🤩
The deadzone is the place just after the service line, the place where it is tricky to do something clever with the shuttle. A good place to hit the shuttle to "wait" for your opponent opens up the rally. We will soon publish a tactical lesson about just this on our Badminton Famly+ platform 🤘🏻
sir pls make a video on reducing unforced errors.i always loose my points just due to it.i am able to reach every shuttle in balance but hits a negative shot and the rally ends.pls this thing is what im struggling with the most.pls make a video on reducing unforced errors
i accept training helps a lot .but there are still some factors that are difficult to tell.and i think im not getting them right.i know i can play without negatives but still they come and ruin everything.i remember once in a tournament .2 months ago.i played so much negatives and somehow i reached the 3rd set.then i was all fired up ,and then i was leading 7-0 and earned every point with a smash and 2 -3 flat tosses and fast drops and then ended up wining 15-9.i know if i played very very less negatives i could have finished him in just 2 sets under 5.and still im continuing with the same problem.thats why i asked, hope you understand.or if you understand pls reply ,everyone knows lee chong wei worked the hardest in the badminton world, hes my idol.then why he lost the olympics ,at 2008 lin dan was just superb and in 2012 lee ended up loosing with a negative lift to the baseline.hope you understand me.
Good. But from experience. When its game usually its all natural. You can't skip jump. Also the key to backhand is be relax. Yes , stiff back and hand will not allow it. But i must admit lot many smaller details are addressed.its like discussion witch coach i don't play professionally any more but your videos are always great. How. About a video on cross corner smash defences ? Looking forward to it.
Funny, I just learned the backhand slice last month and its no where close to what you have now. It looks like the style Chris Kinard used 30 years ago. Nowadays, if you use your fingers to help propel the shuttle, you wont have to injure your elbow. Hold the grip like you said and catch the bird between your hip and your head. Any higher, you will need to change your grip for either a backhand smash or clear. Hit the bird without moving the racket for slicing the bird; hit in the sweet spot and use the fingers to make it go twice as fast and the angle of the racket will naturally slice the bird. The bird will go a lot faster but not much further.
You need to rotate your arm/forearm so you swing through the shot/shuttle. It is important that you dont hit the shuttle but a big smooth swing. Watch the slows in the video👍🏻

Can anyones help me, please ! When I do this stoke, I usually hit the shuttle by the frame of racket instead of the string. What's wrong with me? And sometimes the shuttle go to high to the net, my opponent can do the net kill easily. What should I do to improve this stoke? Sorry because of my bad English, I'm from Vietnam.
Seems your angle of the racket is wrong. Try to hit it more clean on, you might be cutting to much. About the height of the shot is also the angle but the other way you can say, make sure you hit the shuttle with the racket straight on so to rackets point to the roof... Hope it makes sense🤪

How to get power in backhand shots ??
Nice sharing Coach. It really help me to do some nice backhand.
How strong should my racket be strung for it to make this kind of sound anyway?

Also, teaching a high backhand slice to average players will just make them lazy and a worse overall player.
The backhand slice is not what everybody wants to master. It's backhand clear and backhand smash like Taufik that most people are interested.
