If they would take away the chicanes on the Mulsanne straight, would the TS050 HYBRID be able to smash the highest speed record? For those wondering the top speed was achieved by the P88-Peugeot French driver Roger Dorchy, it had been timed at 405 km/h (252 mph) in 1988.
Is there a reason for the coasting into the chicanes? I thought they would crank everything up to 110% for qualifying. Or is it not needed seeing as the Toyota is the only actual LMP1 car in the field :p?
They are obviously quite limited on battery deployment even in quali. Plus I read they strapped a bunch of downforce on this year so best to use it on the long straights and acceleration zones. Let the downforce and regenerative braking slow you down into corners. It's sad that F1 and WEC limit these weapons even in qualifying.
@@marcello6810 I always thought that they harvest energy during braking. So hence I thought it weird they where coasting there where they are supposed to harvest. Correct me if im wrong though.

アタック中に4輪脱輪でタイム無効が通達されてやめただけ、LMP2は関係ないです

they do that to save electrical deployments, so the car doesn’t run out of battery at the end of the lap

Sjon Hompiestompie you’re right, if they lift they don’t harvest, but they don’t deploy, so lifting still saves you some energy
