Is Instaheat Heater a Scam or Legit?

  • It is the night of Nov. 20, 2022, and users on Google are looking to find out if this heating product called Instaheat heater is a scam and they're looking for reviews. Right off the top, let me tell you that this seems to be the same product that's been sold before under other names and they keep changing the name once the public realizes with all the bad reviews that the product doesn't do what's described.
So here’s what this Instaheat heater scam is. It’s a small plug-in device that provides heat. There are claims that it can heat a whole room in minutes. It might be able to help out a small room, but don’t expect impressive results. Always remember that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
The Instaheat heater scam is nothing new, as I mentioned before. I checked Scamadviser’s channel and they said that this product has likely been known as Heater Pro X, Top Heat heater, Orbis heater, Elite Heat heater, and Alfa Flame heater. They also said that these products are known for coming from China, and that yes, they do get hot, but they won’t heat a room in minutes. And here’s the thing. The product works and gets hot if you put your hand near it, like I said. But I’m seeing high prices for the product when you can basically get the same thing for far less money on Amazon and eBay if you just type portable plug-in heater. If you want to get one and you have a tiny room, I mean go for it, but don’t get scammed and overpay.
I recommend checking out Scamadviser’s video which provided a good demonstration and a test of what appeared to be the same product when it was called Top Heat heater. I’ll include that link in the pinned comment down below.
I hope my video helped. I’m spending my free time to make these videos like this one about the Instaheat scam to help people out. There are so many scams out there. Every day brings new scams, and you can only report on so many of them. But I figured I could do a little more on my own time on nights and weekends, and that’s exactly what I’m doing now. Scams can sometimes hurt people. Scams can take money from people. And not everyone has money to spare. So I hope I can help you on my channel. So please click the Like button, the thumbs up button, and subscribe.
Also, feel free to check out my creative projects about New York City history and abandoned places in the pinned comment down below.
Feel free to share your story in the comments below. Thanks so much for watching.
Note: This Instaheat heater has nothing to do with a similarly-named product with ties to a Switzerland domain name.

As an electrician, husband of a perpetually cold wifey, and son of aging parents who could never get warm enough in the winter, all space heaters are pretty much crap. Dunno about other countries, but in the US the highest rated heater you can get is going to be 1500 Watts. That's equivalent to the most powerful of microwaves, most countertop microwaves are 7-800 (small) and 1000-1200 (large).
That being said, I did get my wife one of these plug in style ones that goes directly in the outlet, but she only uses it right next to the bed for her benefit. Don't know if it's the one referred to in this video, we've had it a couple years, and I get the "Glade" reference, it's bigger than that...in fact almost big enough to pull itself out of the outlet.
If you really want better heat, you have to go propane, which of course has it's own dangers, I didn't dare get one for my aging parents, but I do let my perpetually cold wifey use a "Big Buddy" (double green Coleman can) propane heater on the coldest days, but make her swear on her life to never leave it unattended, even though it has a 'tip feature'. That thing is so hot on the highest setting, that after 20 minutes I'm sweating and we have one of those couples' arguments about temperature.
Nobody wants to hear this, but if heating is that difficult for you, it's probably because you need to do some insulating or window sealing. If the price of gas and current political/economic indicators mean anything I think they do, a lot of people are in for a tough winter this year.

Cop rating is what matters and the claims for this heater are basically lying. They claim it’s 30% more efficient than more conventional heaters which is cobblers. The most efficient storage heaters might be 85% or so and gas boilers these days about 95%.
What matters is the size of room to be heated and by how much. This is can be calculated in kwh. The heater is 800w so hasn’t a hope of heating faster than a 2kw fan heater or convector heater as even if they are less efficient they are still chucking out way more heat.
If the thermal gradient is pretty shallow between inside and outside on a cold day, ie your room won’t hold the heat in, then just 800 watts hasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell of warming that room as most of the heat is being rapidly lost. You’re far better off properly insulating that space. A well insulated room once warm should be able to stay at least 15 degrees Celsius warmer than outside for several hours after the heating is switched off once up to temperature. For a freezing cold day this means that after several hours if the room is heated to 20 degrees then heating stopped, two to three hours later it should still be between 15 to 17 degrees in the room. If not, it’s not insulated well enough or the property has way too low a thermal mass to retain the heat. Well insulated properties should be able to hold 15 to 18 degrees temperature gradient for at least 3 to 5 hours

On the advertisement they say the device will "recycle" heat and make the room warmer that way. anyone with a bit of knowledge with heat will know it is BS. heat energy is like light, it can not be recycle, at best it can only be retain or generated, but to generate heat it require energy output.

The second time of purchase was after watching a very impressive advert on the Web which was very convincing and I assumed the first one that I returned was a cheap copy, this one was £51.90 but turned out the be exactly the same as the first one it was difficult to return & I ended up with £15 compensation & I could keep the heater ,not a happy chappy but I am now much more careful on my online purchases .

I am worried that it has no cord. The sockets often are in bad locations where they may be obstructed by things. This could prevent dissipation o the heat or even cause fire danger. Use of extension cords with heaters are not recommended. With electric heating you essentially get what you pay in electricity. There is no free lunch. With current prices I would not dream of using any electric heater. My charge went just from 12 to about 35 cents per kWh.
    I paid 10 € for a simple 2 kW heater with a fan.

I works perfectly well to give our son a bit of warmth in the bathroom in the morning, as we let the temperature drop down to 14°C/55°F down there over night. (Never understood the point of warm or even hot bath rooms.)
And it does that and it objectively raises the full room’s temperature - if you leave it long enough, which we don't.
That costs less than a handful of kWh in electricity, far less than what we would need if we’d use the natural gas heater *just for this purpose*.

@@rodhandler7791 You seem confused. You are mixing up kWh and kW. Your boiler's 30kW rating is its maximum power and it won't sustain that power output to keep your house warm. That means you can't simply look at the maximum power figures and compare directly.
Gas is cheaper for heating when you are looking for the same temperature in the same space. You need to look no further than the price per kWh of gas and electric: about 10p/kWh vs 34p/kWh.
Fred's reasoning for the cheaper gas rate is also sound.

@@userPrehistoricman A 24 kW boiler will use 24 kW of energy per hour. That what google is saying. So who is right here. My boiler is using about 24p every 30min at 85c. So is not cheaper for me. I have cold home so room temp need to be at 22c.

Nothing is for free and heating your house follows the laws of thermodynamics. The best way to manage hot summers and cold winters is with good INSULATION. Properly seal those damn windows and doors, to start. As for any electrical space heater...it's RESISTIVE heating...the worst type of heating out there, in terms of running costs. This advertisement is such crap that its laughable.

    • @grahamstevenson1740

ALL electric heaters are by design 100% efficient. The room will heat up purely according to the wattage. A fan or radiant heater can be used just to warm YOU directly, together with your immediate surroundings with quick effect (by concentrating the heat in a smaller area) but will NOT warm the whole room any faster than any other type.

The part about how it is impossible for it to heat up an entire normal room in minutes or seconds is true.
It is definitely a scam though. They keeping changing the product's name, and it keeps getting bad reviews. Right now it's called the Toasty Heater, and I got 3 consecutive ads for it, each with a completely different backstory.
They claim that it can heat an 800 sq. ft room by 80 degrees in 30 seconds. Yeah, that's BS.

I just bought what I thought was “ top heater” and the advertisement shows a man I thought invented it) for some reason and thought I was getting the better model. When I got the 3 heaters today it just said portable heaters on the box. I didn’t buy the cheaper at Amazon units because I thought they were a different brand and the copy cats… what a dumb ass ha. I always look up anything I buy for months in advance and for some reason “ top Heater “didn’t come up.

Sounds like snake oil, Ive got a friend who bought one and he wasn't that impressed, i think 500w is still high for it size, i have a 250w dimplex portable heater that does a far better job and bangs out some heat and uses half the power of the instaheater an uses the same technology as the instaheater so its nothing new.

Any electrical heating device will convert almost all its electrical consumption into heat though the smaller the wattage the lesser the running cost BUT the longer it will take to warm a room - depending upon the room's size, the ambient temperature and the room's insulation or lack thereof - if the heater has insufficient wattage / heating capacity for the above mentioned criteria it will NEVER HEAT THE ROOM!
EVERY resistance element electric heater will ONLY deliver heat proportionate to its wattage and the only way for an electrical heater to do better is using a reverse cycle air conditioner / heat pump.

    • @stuartfox5989
      @stuartfox5989 Рік тому +1

An electric oven will heat a kitchen better than this little plug in unit but eventually, the element will burn out and you will need to replace it at far greater cost than a reasonable plug-in heater. I use cheap plug-in fan heaters - dual heat, 1000 / 2000 watt element, 2-speed fan, thermostat and tip-over safety switch - lasts about 5 years or more and cost around $20.00 - more expensive ones are available but they don't cost less to run or last longer.
