Walgreens is one of the top three stores in the country for coupon-shoppers. Every week, TheKrazyCouponLady.com posts free deals, money-makers and dozens of deals with at least sixty percent savings on name brand body wash, razors and shave gel, toiletries, paper products and learning supplies!
But, Walgreens coupon policy and "rules" are the most confusing of any store in the country. Between Balance Rewards, Register Rewards, monthly coupon booklets, and in-ad coupons, and manufacturer coupons, there are a lot of moving parts to track!
Before you step foot in Walgreens again, watch Heather Wheeler and Joanie Demer's video and learn the 15 rules we think every shopper should master before couponing at Walgreens!

I've worked at walgreens so let me give you a few pointers.....
First, you CAN go over on your coupons, but you may not get a great deal. If something is on sale for .99 and you have a 1.00 coupon, walgreens will take it but will make the coupon .99.
Another thing is when you are looking for "filler" items, go for the items right next to the cashier. We get about 5 to 20 cents for things that are sold next to us. I promise the cashier will be more happy and helpful than before.
Also, the best deals are in walgreens clearance. I used to go to target and shop their clearance, but they are nothing like walgreens. Walgreens usually has their clearance half off which is awesome and it'll get lower and lower.
I hope this helped you guys!

RhianafeatEileen hi I'm a manager and actually you cannot redeem a coupon for less than the items price. A 1$ coupon will not work on a 50 cent item. The coupon policy on that has changed in the last few years

Further testimony that Walgreen's is difficult to decipher...I am trying to plan ahead and learn Walgreen's coupon policy but, I think the people have spoken, CVS is the easiest platform.

RhianafeatEileen so let me ask u this. Let’s say Walgreens has herbal essences shampoo on sale like they’re supposed where I live just north of Memphis Tn. The Krazy lady today sent out a notification say that if u buy three and clip a coupon and if it gives u like 5,000 points can u use that on that particular transaction? If so could it possibly make something free or do u have to get filler items? And can u get filler items that u have coupons for? Or does it have to be something like u said next to the register?

Yeah the confusing rules just don't make it easy to get the strong deals, which is what CVS has put out multiple times a month. Rite Aid is the same way with their Up rewards, which can also be confusing.

Best video yet. Walgreen's policies always seem to require blind luck - even the employees can't explain it very well. Juggling register rewards, points, coupons and manufacturers coupons makes me wish they would adopt a system like Target's Cartwheel. I'd shop at the other places down the street, but Walgreen's always seems to have the best deals.

Walgreens was one of the first places I tried couponing because of all the ways you can save, but the number of exclusions made it exhausting, especially when I could never find staff to really explain things to me and I had coupon after coupon simply turned down by cashiers. If KCL has cracked the code and list how I can stack deals, it might be worth trying again, but right now I'm doing pretty well without walgreens /-:

Question: I bought 2 L'Oreal products today at Walgreens. They were buy one get one 50% off, so the first item was the original $12.99 and the second item was $4.49 (originally $8.99). I used my Balance card which I had a $2 off L'Oreal coupon on that I had clipped from my phone. The register used that coupon twice. Additionally, there was a $2 off L'Oreal coupon the the May savings book, which I brought to the register and asked to use. The cashier refused and said I had already used it. Aren't the coupons on the Walgreens app manufacterer coupons and the ones on the booklet Walgreens coupons? This was my first time attempting to coupon at Walgreens and I was quite disappointed, I thought the coupon in the booklet would work. Can someone please explain why the cashier refused this coupon?

    • @lindyhahn9332
      @lindyhahn9332 7 років тому +1

Some of the coupons that you clip to your card are the same coupons found in the savings book. When you clip the coupons go look at the details and see if it says " monthly savings book." If it does then it cannot be combined with a physical monthly savings book coupon because it's the same coupon. However, if the clipped coupon says manufacturer coupon then you can use it with the monthly savings book. I hope that helps and isn't too confusing. :)

    Technically only 14 ways.
Rule #2 - You forgot to mention that the card is required in order to use *store* coupons. You don't need to get a plastic card, but then remember what phone number you sign up with so that you can still get your points and sale prices at checkout.
Rule #3 - Be considerate of others! Don't load up your cart with shampoo, toothpaste, whatever for the sake of collecting coupons and points. Stores are allowed to limit you so that others have a chance to get the same sales.
Rule #4 - If you want to do separate transactions, PLEASE go to multiple stores. Nobody wants to wait in line while you are there with tons of items just to rack up extra register rewards. (Note: If you need separate transactions because you are shopping for someone else or you need to keep business and personal receipts separate, that is completely different. They're happy to help.)
Rule #5 - It makes no sense to give you a register reward when you're spending a register reward. It's the same as giving you a coupon for something you're basically getting for free. Just like using Balance Reward points. How can Walgreens make it any clearer to you?
Rule #10 - Equal number of manufacturer coupons and items purchased. Why do you have to make a big deal out of this?
Rule #11 - "You have to redeem them in the set increments that you earned them." Uh, what? Not accurate. You can choose how many to spend in a transaction, from the increments offered, yes. But let's say you earn increments of 1,000, 2,000, or 5,000 points over the course of a week that totals over 10,000 points. You can spend those 10,000 points all in one transaction of $10 or higher (after coupons and before sales tax).
BONUS TIP: Check out at the cosmetics register if you're buying makeup, hair, or skin products. Cosmetics department usually have extra manufacturer coupons for you! Just ask nicely if there's any coupons available for your items. They used to put round yellow stickers on the items that had coupons, but stores have been ordered to remove those.

Here is another helpful hint from someone who works at Walgreens! When you plan on going shopping try to avoid going late on Saturdays and early Sunday's mornings. Why? Because on Saturdays most Walgreens will begin removing their sale tags and add tags so you might not be seeing all the other sales and balance rewards you could be earning because of the possibility that there is no tag! (Btw if you go to a 24/7 Walgreens it may differ a little being that they will pull tags later and may even have them done sooner on Sunday morning due to the fact that they are there all night. Unlike the stores with different store hours) also avoid Sunday mornings because they may or may not have all the add tags a balance reward tags hung! And one more thing, this may or may not be true for all employees in retail but for me I always treat each customers very nicely, but I can also tell you when I have customers who's really sweet to me doesn't talk to me like I'm a slave or that I'm the reason that an item is a certain price then I always make sure that when that customer comes in that they are VERY WELL taken care of!

+JustJasmine It's quite simple. It's like getting extra manufacturer coupons without having to clip magazines and newspapers. It says right on the register reward if it is a store or manufacturer coupon. Manufacturers reimburse the stores for these extra promotions and coupons printed at checkout. Not that big a deal.
