Mahalo for watching! Say hi to Dan and Gunars for us when you go on your cacao farm tour or chocolate tasting tour! Click SUBSCRIBE for a video every Friday on vacationing in Hawaii. Our family videos are no substitute for your Hawaii vacation but at least it is something during 2020. Check out our Hawaii travel website for more tips on traveling to Hawaii: thehawaiivacationguide.com/
I had been to the Maui Chocolate Farm and love it there. I learned a lot. Dan's knowledge of cacao is very impressive. Gunars eloquent presentation leading the tasting is very impressive too. I learned so much from both of them and I enjoyed tasting and eating the chocolates. And 100% net profit of the company goes to charity! I am glad you went too.
The way your son said “cacao pod”, my heart! 🥺😭 Had cacao fruit several times (love that fruity taste of the flesh around the “seeds”!!), but have never visited a cacao farm. As a chocolate lover, this place honestly looks like a dream 😍
fantastic. the drone footage always ads a high end feel to your vids. and that chocolate farm wow. been to maui so many times and never heard of this place. thx for the vid!
Thanks for watching. We have fun with the drone and it is a great way to show Hawai'i. They are a wonderful group at Ku'ia and they all love their jobs. They started in 2013 and had their first harvest in 2018 so they are new. The new factory and tasting pavilion just opened in February 2019, just in time for COVID.
Thanks for watching! The chocolate factory will be waiting for you on Maui once the island opens and is safe. I'm glad you are thinking of going, it was a wonderful experience.
Thanks you two for posting the best Maui videos on UA-cam! We'll definitely be adding the chocolate tasting on our next visit! Keep up the great work and stay safe!!
Thank you! We love making them and I'm so glad you enjoy watching them! Definitely add this to your next visit. It was a fun treat and a great excuse to eat a lot of chocolate :)
Aloha Danh, thanks so much for watching and the compliment. Next year would be a great time for a tour. They will have the cacao farm tour fully operational.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide I grew up in Los Angeles & moved to Maui in 1990. I was there for close to 4 1/2 years, then moved back to the mainland for school. I visited Maui the followning 2 summers during school breaks & have not been there since 1996. The sugar cane industry was still in operation at that time. 😊 I tell you all of this so you can understand how much I truly appreciate your wonderful videos. 😊
We love this video, we learned so much about chocolate. We will check this place out when we are in Maui this year. How about a video tour of the Ocean Vodka farm? It's our favorite vodka, it's so smooth.
I love videos like this because when I go to Maui I always want to do things not commonly advertised in the tour brochures. Thank you for this! More please! hehe 🙏💕 Also, not sure if you've touched on this subject yet (since I just discovered your channel) but what drone do you use? And any tips on using it in Maui? I heard some residents/ shop owners in Lahaina frown upon it. A video on this would be cool!
Aloha Annie, thanks for watching! We use a DJI Mavic Mini. FAA regulations for flying so most places are allowed but we stay clear of busy areas like Lahaina for safety.
I liked the Pineapple farm tour as there is a lot of history and it was fun. thehawaiivacationguide.com/activities/maui-pineapple-tour/ The full cacao tour has restarted on Maui though as the farm was damaged by winds on August 8th.
Aloha Bill! The tasting starts with different types of dark and milk chocolates! Its more fun to showcase the unique, Hawaii flavors. Check out their website for all they offer.

Isn't it so surprisingly good? Next time you go to Maui, put the Cacao farm and tasting on your list. It was a great experience!

@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Gotcha, thanks so much!
I would LOVE to tour a local chocolate farm and factory. Do they have dairy-free chocolate?
Did I miss something??? You didn't show how the pods are made into chocolate!
Haha, head to the factory for a tour. They didn’t have the factory running during our visit.
how much does tour cost
they offer different tours, check them out here: www.mauichocolatetour.com/
If you had to choose one. Pineapple farm tour or Cacao/chocolate farm tour?
I liked the Pineapple farm tour as there is a lot of history and it was fun. thehawaiivacationguide.com/activities/maui-pineapple-tour/ The full cacao tour has restarted on Maui though as the farm was damaged by winds on August 8th.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide thanks for your reply. Really helped with making my decision.
So no pure chocolate. Sad.

@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide I'm sure it's tasty but they don't give the sugar content.
