When I first heard about this game and this fight I was really excited, but the acting is just a really dumbed-down version of the acting in FFX, sadly.
This is how FFX should've gone.. At least until Jecht turned into the Final Aeon. Yknow, let Tidas and Jecht have their one on one and settle their shit before they die.
No way this would have been cringe as fuck and made no sense. Jecht changed so much since coming to Spira and so did Tidus. The real scene was much more emotional and authentic.
I feel like this was better than FFX. The “I hate you” line might be the most important one in the whole game but because it had been animated for Japanese, he had to say it extremely fast in FFX and it felt rushed. For a son to tell his father he hates him has a tremendous emotional weight and I feel like the original game got that wrong. And then with him following up and saying he just wanted his approval in this scene I thought was really good. I wish FFX would have had some of this.
Tidus gets' me philosophical, because he gets me thinking about such things and how youths of today need to make their own mistakes to find their own way, not saying I dislike the other MCs, I like a few of them but its just, Tidus holds a special place in my heart, because he is not the everyman, but in a sense the definition of the 'Hero with a Thousand Faces' that Campbell spoke of, he is also the most realistic yet the most unrealistic, which are both good qualities in a MC.
@twistedasylum999 There's another thing that makes him stronger than any other FF character; he deals with his problems. Cloud hides from them, Zidane ignore them, Squall covers them up like a child afraid of the dark. The only other main character who deals with them, is Terra. Tidus though, is unique because he lets himself feel down and then ventures forth to cheer himself up, all the while helping others, something that almost no other mc of FF does.
I get the feeling the people saying that the voice acting here is worse than in FFX hadn't actually played FFX recently. It wasn't total crap, but this was miles more improved than it used to be.
It was awkward and all, but thats what makes FFX so good. Now, we have games with perfect voice acting, and we take that for granted. FFXs VA wasn't terrible, but I'd say that the voice acting was precious.
I wrote this comment years ago without playing FFX and only going off of Dissidia, but after playing FFX I can absolutely say Tidus is more than just a boss.
Yet Tidus, actually learned something that took my mom, who had a dad like Jecht, years to do; forgive him, and Tidus did it in a very realistic and yet pretty mature way, he admitted where his own mistakes were, recognised the real reason for his distaste and then proceeded to forgive his father and himself. His journey, wasn't one for these weird memories, wasn't cause he had a tail or something, it was simply to find his own place in life. Which isn't that what we're all doing? Sry about that
This. Right here. Is why I hate Dissidia NT. The whole of what they’ve done can’t compare to just these cutscenes alone. This is irrefutable evidence that Square could have done better. That Square HAS done better.
