I have the utmost respect for Cecil as a protagonist in this version : unlike other heroes who'll fight for the light and only for the light, Cecil understands that true power comes to those who know balance and isn't afraid to wield a blade of the dark when needed. And in turn, I think Golbez is one of the most awesome anti-antagonist there is in this story line.
Of all the characters and instances where "The power of love and friendship" comes up in Final Fantasy, this is one of the few where it rings true all the way. Cecil is driven by his bonds with his friends and his unwavering love for his brother. Golbez in turn is made a better person through his love for Cecil awakening the light within him. It's actually quite touching and just a shade unintentionally romantic, but it's hella-effective as a message.
Normally when Cecil's weapon is out, it is a spear, but if Cecil is in Ex-Mode (Limit Break Mode) during battle, he replaces the spear with a sword. And just for the record, spears are bladed-weapons. Doll-shaped Cecil sounds adorable! ^_^
oh. thanks! i noticed that i changes into the sword in EX mode but i couldnt work out what it was normaly. you gotta admite that's a wierd looking spear.
I wonder if I'm the only one who intentionally draws out battles I could otherwise easily win in the name of making them epic? I do it in a lot of games actually and I don't often mean to do so. But I sure do hate short-lived fights with the build-up to them is all dramatic. ...*sigh*
In the dissidia games specifically, I like to finish them with DIFFERENT moves each time. Because the slow-mo at the end of each move looks EXTREMELY badass. I don't know, there's just something about having a cinematic fight, that makes it epic. I'll block an attack I know I can barely block (if at all), even if I can dodge it, and it feels like the more hardcore thing to do given my situation. It's all about the journey, haha
Sometimes I lose because of it too, though. But you know... I've been satisfied with losses many times, when I "almost" turned things around in the most badass way!
@satanistmaster his father was not Kuja...it was Kluya and Golbez actually tried to be a white mage, but he couldnt heal even when Kluya was about to die,and the mother died giving birth to Cecil, Golbez took cecil, left him at Baron Castle, and went to Zemus to be controlled
This was so much better than most of the other battles. It was so intense listening to Cecil's story unfold. You can hear the thick literature that is olde english almost combined with modernization of today. If only they really improved Duodecim; its really sad. I kind of felt that 012 was more of a cookie cutter game. Nice new characters, but poor in-depth storyline. If I really wanted crap, I would have gone to my toilet and produced it for free. Come on Squenix, do it right!

This cutscene here shows how much FF games from 1-6 need to be remade!!!!
Final Fantasy IV was remade for the DS and it's great.
I can see Cecil and Riku hang out in Kingdom Hearts lol
MinnShii's comment below our little 'conversation'. Randomness helps relief stress and brings great humor into play.
@misterbrusky Yup, If you've played FF4 Cecil's Father Kuja had 2 sons both were Dark knights but Cecil became a paladin later in the game =)
I love how Cecil keeps saying "stwenght"

I love GOLBEZ! xD

+VeggyZ I do that too! I hate it when people end the fight with the most basic attack instead of using your most awesome moves!

VeggyZ Same I do exact same stuff in games.
that exp jump tho
If you look closely in the beginning you can see the moon palace and the lunar whale
@satanistmaster his father was not Kuja...it was Kluya

Golbez took cecil, left him at Baron Castle, and went to Zemus to be controlled
@Arausito lol i see what you did there XD Star wars reference
Does Cecil always fight one-handed, even in his alternate costumes?
He . . . already knows that.
Yuri Lowenthai is excellent voice actor
um i know this is a stupid question but what weapon does cecil have? that doesnt look like a sword or a spear.
great vid quality. cecil is awesome.
thanks!
yeah i noticed earlier that it changes.
doll-shaped cecil? where did you get that from? not saying it sounds bad but that was rather random.
this got me thinking for a while...is cecil's blade even a BLADE?!?!
oh didnt see that.
sure randomness is good stress relief and rather funny in certain ways. maybe.

Normally uses a spear but uses a sword in EX Mode
I prefered Cecil as a Paladin in this game compared to a Dragoon.
He was a Dark Knight & Paladin here. And Kain was the Dragoon.
Cecil: BEHOLD!
epic miss
Whoa cecil!!
light vs dark? more like light and dark vs dark
Light and Darkness? What is this, Kingdom Hearts?
you mean psp right
God so many spoilers. Really should play the original before playing this game
This one is the first game. Or do you mean IV?
I love Cecil xD
Cecil I am your brother!!!
