Excellent video with great tips like the wire size & more. I just bought that mold & look forward to making some spinner baits. Do the beads & middle blade stay in place without those spacer tubes ok?
Glad you like the video! Thanks for watching. This is a great mold. The beads work just like the spacer. If you use the beads you don’t need the tube. If you use a tube you don’t need the beads.
@@MattLunaFishing I have caught a bunch of fish on spinnerbaits and the lake I fish the most has some big Pike in it that love to destroy spinnerbait, so I go thru some. I like the idea of catching fish on a lure I made!
@@MattLunaFishing no fishing lures, I normally just buy Nichols spinnerbaits and they work great, I can catch a bunch of bass on them no problem, but a big Pike will twist them up and you can only straighten it so many times
Yeah i hear you on that! The ones i make for myself have a lighter wire than most people will buy. They don’t hold up well but they get more bites and when i can do it myself for much less than buying one it’s all good
Yeah you can totally use that, but that’s a more expensive way to get the lead. Check your recycling centers to see if they have any they will sell. Also, sometimes tire shops have some you can get too. Wheels have weights on them and older ones are made of lead. You might be able to get those to melt down as well.
You’re welcome. Glad you liked the video. My channel has a lot more tackle making stuff on it. Feel free to ask questions. You’ll love making your own gear.

@@MattLunaFishing I'm from India and I upload snakehead fishing plz watch. Your spinnerbait is really nice but I can't get those mold in which u pure lad.
I actually just got my Do-It brochure on Saturday, nothing really jumped out at me in any of the sections. I will say though, their prices are pretty reasonable when compared to others.
Do It molds has the Midwest finesse jig for your ned rigs and the Midwest finesse plastic mold too! I make the same ned rigs from the mild mentioned above and really like it. I have the plastics mold on the way too!
Yes, after getting all the components you need, it is cheaper, when you factor in how many you can make. I use a lighter wire so the durability isn’t as good, but i think they get a lot more bites. I don’t smoke my mold. I preheat them depending on how hot it is outside when I’m pouring. If i have issues I’ll spray blaster dry lube into the cavities and that helps. Here’s a link to the spray: amzn.to/3WekMfF
Thank Matt great video I have just retired from work and love fishing now I would love to make my own lure and spinner baits for here in Australia
It’s not too difficult to do! Just got to get the stuff to do it! Thanks for watching the video and commenting!
Matt, nice presentation of the material. I’ve been watching your videos for a while. Like the content

Nice job. Definitely see myself making jigs, spinner baits, and drop shot weights in my future.

Great video man I've been wanting to make my own
You totally should. The best spinnerbaits I’ve fished are the ones I make myself. No joke.
Excellent ✌️😎💨
Thanks!
Do the wire forms hold up if you bake it for powder coating?
Yeah they hold up just fine. Never had an issue.
This was very informative. I just retired and have given a lot of thought to making baits. Do you have an equipment list for start up?
Thank for watching the video. I have another video that goes more into detail on what you need: ua-cam.com/video/BBFkLfsPbec/v-deo.html

Could you use aluminum that is melted from cans instead of lead? That would be a nice way to cut the cost of buying lead
No I don’t think that will work
What setting do you set your lead pot at?
Full blast!
Very informative, I may give it a try! 🎣

Thank you! I was happy with how they turned out!
You made the 1/2 " ultra minnow spinnerbait. What size blades did you use for that particular size?
I use a 4.5 willow and a 4 Colorado
For the lead, could you use like lead weights to melt or do you have to have a certain type of lead?
Are you talking about old lead fishing weights?
Most of the time pretty much any lead is fine to use.
@@MattLunaFishing yes like split shots that you could buy at the store. I was wondering because no one mentions it.

What pliers do you use to bend the end of the wire?
They are called round nose pliers. They are really inexpensive. Most tackle supply companies sell them. I think they are around $5 or so.
I need yo get that so bad!!👍🔥😎🎣

What is the tool you use for banding? I clicked the link you have in the description but it doesn’t take me to what you have.
That skirt tool is super old. I bought it at a swap meet a loooong time ago and haven’t seen one since.
dang, it looks super helpful
The normal ones aren’t hard to use either
Made by NakedBaitco called the skirt expander. Discontinued.
Bummer that it’s discontinued

What size eyes did u use ?
I don’t remember for sure. Probably around 4mm
where did you get that skirt tool?
I don’t even remember. I’ve had it for so long. I’ve never seen another like it. Sorry!
No gloves when dealing with lead?
Probably a good idea, but i don’t always wear them. I’d recommend people wear them.
