LSV's Simple Guide to Opening Power: Step 1: Be LSV. If you arent lucky enough to be born LSV, proceed to next step Step 2: Ask for Power Nicely (tip: be specific) Step 3: If the first two steps didnt work, complain, passive-aggressively, at the Universe for making you unlucky.
Super cool to see that the Domain package fits well in vintage cube. It was somewhat controversial when it was first added to the MTGO cube, but giving 5 color goodstuff an aggressive plan has actually been really powerful, and is a cool way to reward drafting a deck that requires a fair level of skill on the drafting side of things.
A-a-alrighty, welcome to: another vintage cube draft comment section. Why yes, I would like to post first and, oh... yeah, this one looks like a keep to me.
Whoa-ho-ho! Alrighty well I'm slamming Hullbreacher. Look, it works great with Black Lotus. This is such a great Black Lotus deck. Overall weak pack though, passing to Sandydog, who I expect will take the Esper Sentinel. This deck looks awesome already. Could always do with more Power, though.
Question. Why bitter triumph the kozilek? Why no allow thr kozilek to attack and sacrifice 4 lands for 4 elementals? You can block kozilek with one, and save the bitter triumph to remove the blockers and kill him on the crackback. What am I missing?
I think most of us missed how similar it is to fetching an untapped land and casting consider. The fact that you don’t need the consider though is crazy.
Currently at deck building: how many times do I think Fastbond will be yet another dead draw? I am currently betting it will be a useful draw exactly once.
Lol even when he played it, it did nothing. I really feel like both Oracle and Fastbond have been subpar for quite a few times I've seen LSV play them recently.
@@bricelory9534 Yeah I agree. I think it still has a place in the cube because the crucible zuran orb or strip mine combo is insane, but it feels really medicore in a normal deck.
Fastbond is just so much of what VC is about. Even if you don’t have Zuran Orb combo, sometimes you can Ramunap+fetch land to get all the lands out of your deck, or just stumble into casting a 4-drop on turn 1. It’s really nice with wheels too. I think it might not be a consistent winner, but it’s a lot of fun and looks super busted when it works.
@@dementievatz the thing is, even in the best suited decks it is unreliable: Fastbond works very poorly with redundancies, like Exploration , etc. - and you're less likely to want to tutor for it compared to other combos. So it is at its best in decks that see lots of cards (draw 7s, etc.) and this one didn't seem like it had nearly the support for it, because this really only had Ancestral for good card draw to both find Fastbond and the extra lands to play AND the payoff for having a lot of mana. But even when it is a deck well suited for it, it is unreliable and shaky unless you get the perfect opening mix of Fastbond, lands, and payoff spells. Too often, I've seen LSV play the Draw 7 deck with Fastbond and either hope to find Fastbond, the lands, or the payoff while sitting around not doing much of anything. There are so many situations when drawn that Fastbond is an absolute dud. I get that especially LSV's cube is set up to facilitate the niche combos and weird interactions that mean a card will only be useful to one type of deck - but considering we also have things like Consultation-Oracle and other massive niche effects, it feels like most of the time, Fastbond requires a lot more hoops to jump through for too little payoff these days. Especially as creatures are becoming more relevant with LSV including more initiative cards (and that creatures are are just getting better). When one of your combo pieces is a 4 mana 2/2, it all might just be too slow. Don't get me wrong, I think it's okay to keep in the Cube (as it might even be nearly sacrilegious to cut it!), but from the last number of months I've watched, it seems LSV tries to shoe-horn it into decks where it doesn't really do much and is too often a dead card. And personally, I think the decks it does shine in are often unreliable if they're depending on the combo. If it's free, it's worth spec'ing on, but I think it is far from certain. Unfortunately, I just haven't seen the Lands packages do too hot these days in LSV's drafts.
Pretty sure you had a much better chance winning by letting the kozilek swing at you, you sacc 4 lands to annihilator, create 4 5/3s, and then triumph the kozilek, which leaves you with 30 power on the board. Even if they counter triumph you can chump kozilek and have 25 power which is still lethal.
Lutri doesn’t work well with converge cards like prismatic ending, although the copy can kill a mox jet. While stuff like modes and value of x is copied when a spell is copied, the amount and type of mana used to cast a spell is not a copyable value
Luisito! on Minute 57, when he breaches kozilek in, I'd have let him attack and put 60703 tokens with Titania, then just chump with one, untap and win? Big fan btw. Met you at Vegas '19. Cheers!
Awesome Draft, LSV I wanna thank you for doing these FAR more often for the past year, drafting power is definitely the best way to play magic. You’re awesome bro
I the second game, after your opponent resolves through the breach, you let him attack with kozilek, sac 4 lands to annihilator, get 4 5/3 and kill the flyer and you can easily win after

Reference BK, Paul, or Tom.
step 0: play a lot of cube

Okay then... On the reply, but if the first post doesn't have any power in it I might still get a few likes... Well nevermind, Volcanic into Sol Ring.

Cringe.

I love that you said you don’t like recurring nightmare… I feel like less people take it now and i freakin’ love it.

What am I missing?
You found the line, you aren’t missing anything.
Saying “Lies up” in the style of Hamilton was great 😂
Why not let Kozilek attack before you kill it so you could sac a bunch of lands and make a pile of 5/3s to attack for lethal the next turn?
Yeah that was definitely the play
yeah, dang, breaching in kozilek was actually a huge mistake on BK's part but he didn't get punished
I completely mis-evaluated the surveil lands. They are so good
I think most of us missed how similar it is to fetching an untapped land and casting consider. The fact that you don’t need the consider though is crazy.
I think oracle needs to be a 4/4 haste with those abilities in order to keep up in current vintage cube
yeah I think if Oracle came out today no one would even consider it for vintage cube

I was so sad to see tamiyo + displacer kitten passed on in pack 1, couldve been looping recall all day
So much worse than looping time walk though
@@nikhilchhagan7371 True, but there was a Thassa’s Oracle, too. That’s a convoluted combo, but it’s just a win.

"Not you, Oracle."
When your dad calls you by your first name and not your nickname(Mooly Dooly) you know you messed up.

40:30 you mentioned blooming marsh would be tapped, but it counts other lands not itself so it would be untapped next turn too.
Love the videos as always. Painful on my end to watch you pass lutri in your karakas, dt, ancestral deck…

keeping a 7 lander is sigma af
More likely to draw spells if all the lands are out of the deck lol

Passing BK a tarn? Man, never lucky!

No one man should have all that power
LSV try not to go into domain challenge level impossible
No lutri in ancestral deck 😭😭
