  • Selenium helps protect against the toxicity of mercury from fish in our brains.
    Bigeye and bluefin tuna have the highest mercury to selenium ratios and are not the best choice. Albacore is in the middle. Yellowfin and skipjack have more favorable selenium to mercury ratios.
    The bio accessibility of mercury in cooked tuna is lower than raw tuna (sushi or poke).

    How about taking selenium daily to give the selenium boost when you eat fish? Brazil nuts are full of selenium.
