i mean, thats kinda the point of his reactions tho, hes not a reactor to binge the whole series but most shows he just watches the top and lore heavy episodes to give funny opinions 💀
Fun fact about the Stan Faking his Death paper: there's a deleted scene where Stan is himself pushing his car off a cliff screaming "OH NO I'M STAN PINES AND I'M IN MY CAR AND CAN'T GET OUT", then ducks away when the car falls and explodes. And it WORKED.
LMFAO That's got to be one of my favourite off-screen Stan moments, alongside the time he lied to get an army veteran's discount, then had to invent an entire story on the spot. Apparently he still has a 'Remember Operation Enduring Excuse' bumper sticker 💀
So for context: Boyz crazy was made by alex hirsch (show creator, writer, and voice actor) as both a love letter to, and somewhat a practical joke on, his sister, who was Obsessed with boy bands, and specifically Lance Bass, who is the voice actor for the entire boy band this episode. He made sure his sister got to meet him, and she voice acts in the episode as well
Technically, Lance Bass was *one of* the voices for the band, along with Alex Hirsch and Matt Chapman. But as far as I can remember, they've never specified which character/s he or the others voices. There's a couple of lines in there that really sound like Alex to me (especially that gag about "That's a valid perspective!"), but otherwise, I can't really guess. Maybe they switched it up.
Fun fact: One of Alex's regrets with this show is that, when it comes to Boyz Crazy, he wasn't as clear with Robbie's role as he should've been. He really _did_ rip it off of another band, and thus didn't know about the hypnosis. To quote the wiki, 'Dipper was meant to learn that he wasn't looking out for Wendy and was instead finding conspiracies where none existed and "sticking his nose where it didn't belong" simply because he was jealous of Robbie and couldn't come to terms with Wendy's attraction to him.' Edit: forgot to mention that the hypnosis wasn't even working, because, to quote Alex in the audio commentary for the episode, "backwards messages can't control your behavior because you can't understand them."
It’s not even that he wasn’t clear, he straight up just wrote it to where Robbie hypnotizing her is a red herring. I’ve watched the episode probably 5 times over and it’s not written in a way for Robbie to steal the song to even make sense. When he pulls out the CD he literally says “Let’s hope this works” under his breath and has a menacing grin. (And the fact that the rewinded message is literally in Robbie’s voice) But also, that intended “lesson”makes zero sense. Wendy is Dipper’s friend. If I found out that my friend’s partner was a pathological liar, I would feel obligated to tell my friend. And if my friend was upset that I told them what kind of person their partner really is, then I would drop them and get a new friend. What kind of person wouldn’t want the truth out of the person they’re dating? (Wendy gets upset at the end of the episode, but that’s actually understandable given the context. She just broke up with her boyfriend and Dipper gives her zero time to recuperate before asking her to do something with him. Finally, Dipper had no evidence that Robbie found the song online. As I’ve pointed out, every single bit of evidence points to Robbie literally hypnotizing Wendy. And hypnotizing someone so they can go with you to “Lookout point” sounds exactly like what a predator would do. I guess this is part of Alex’s regret that he didn’t make it more clear, but I just hate how the episode ends with Stan lecturing “Hey, you shouldn’t have meddled in someone’s life” (even though he was trying to save his friend’s life). If you start writing an episode and the point you’re trying to convey isn’t lining up, you shouldn’t lecture the audience through a lesson that contradicts every piece of information that is in the episode. We already got a great lesson about giving people time to recover and being more sympathetic. Alex Hirsch is definitely one of my favorite writers, but every once in a while he does things that are so stupid that even a 11 year old could’ve written it better.
Tbh Roadside Attraction is just misplaced. If it was aired right after Into The Bunker as it was supposed to, it would've been received better. Being right before Weirdmageddon episodes didn't help it lol

Evryone's reccomending Tale of Two Stans, which is great and 100% agree, but also maybe Society of the Blind Eye? With or without context, the episode is facinating, especially since it introduces a bunch of new stuff all on its own.
The reveal of Ford is one of the most hype moments in Disney TV history. Mabel was kinda annoying dealing with the band and Robbie was just plain creepy
I think most people hate Roadside Attraction more for its weird placement in the season, rather than its actual content. If it was put in after Into the Bunker, it would have fit a lot better. The fact that Boyz Crazy is the lowest rated episode, but still a hilariously great episode, just shows how absolutely fantastic Gravity Falls is Definitely in my top 3 favorite shows with Avatar The Last Airbender and Stephen Universe
100% on board with you doing the rest of Gravity Falls! I can't tell how far you got into Season 2, but here's some strong advice: before you continue on from here, go back and make sure you've seen "Into the Bunker", "Sock Opera", "Society of the Blind Eye", and "Northwest Mansion Mystery". Maybe you've already seen "Into the Bunker"? The ones you most need to see, plot-wise, for the rest of the show are "Sock Opera" and "Society of the Blind Eye". Do those as one video, and then move onward.
So like, i would HIGHLY recommend at least watching ep 7 of the second season, “Society of the Blind Eye” before, but either way you should definitely watch the next episode at least!! A lot of answers, a lot of tragedy.
Honestly, at this point... he should watch (if he hasn't yet) "Into the Bunker", "Sock Opera", "Society of the Blind Eye", and "Northwest Mansion Mystery" before continuing. Run through those in one video, then move onward. (Am I missing anything important in the others from the first half of S2? I feel like those are the ones that will most set him up for the rest of the show. He might have seen some of them already, he says he watched a few eps of S2. But I doubt he's seen SOTBE or NMM.)
I'm surprised Not What He Seems wasn't actually the highest rated episode. I always got the vibe that it was the consensus best episode by a mile amongst the fanbase.
It’s definitely one of the best ones but I remember how much everyone just loss their minds when it was revealed the author was his brother!! I know little 10 year old me wouldn’t shut up about it for weeks!!
well now you gotta watch "a tale of two stans", because how are you gonna just let it hanging there... or do binge watch it. and post it. we need to see it!!

Ok but it's really funny that he watched an episode where Stan it's always talking about "preparing for the apocalypse" before watching the portal episode 😂
There was a whole episode about how Stan is incapable of saying "please" but in this one he did. A lot of people reckon that's why Mabel trusted him in the end.
If you do watch the rest of Gravity Falls and want to do a finale reaction (which we'd all like), you should react to the next episode, season 2, episode 11 "A Tale of Two Stans", and then make sure to react to the final 5 episodes, as they are all (from "Dipper & Mabel vs The Future" onwards) a multipart finale for the show with Mind-blowing moments.
Ngl it's a real shame you spoiled this for yourself cos one of the best parts of gravity falls is figuring out the mysteries (I still hope you watch the rest actual series though even if its just watching season 2 through since youve seen season 1)
Yes you should watch more. Lol. You should have been watching it when it was airing to really feel the hype of that last episode, but at least now you've got a load of free content for the channel.
I remember watching the previous reactions and hoping you hadn't gone and finished the show without doing a weirdmageddon reaction. I need a weirdmageddon reaction.
10:44 hold up what? this sounds oddly familiar… *flashbacks to alien stage, especially the luka theory (WHO IS ALSO BLONDE?! i might be onto smth gasp)*
I imagine the reason why Boyz Crazy is the lowest rated episode is because it’s arguably Mabel at her most selfish, one of the few and probably most significant complaints about the show, and Dipper’s crush on Wendy at its most toxic without any other major elements to distract from them. Though the fact that it is the lowest rated one shows how good pretty much every other episode is.
I definitely need you to react to the last few episodes!! Also while I'm at it saying I want you to react to something if you do another Lydia the bard one she just released Alice's villain song Saturday and it is SO GOOD would love to see your reaction to that and some more from her

The twists and character development hit a lot harder when you really get to know these characters outside of the big dramatic scenes they're in. Also, the comedy in this series is incredible and absolutely worth experiencing just for the fun of it. Give it a chance! Evryone's reccomending Tale of Two Stans, which is great and 100% agree, but also maybe Society of the Blind Eye? With or without context, the episode is facinating, especially since it introduces a bunch of new stuff all on its own.
i think enjoying the lowest rated episode is just a testament to how good a show is if anything
_begging_ you to watch A Tale Of Two Stans, it gives so much context that's so needed after Not What He Seems
The reveal of Ford is one of the most hype moments in Disney TV history. Mabel was kinda annoying dealing with the band and Robbie was just plain creepy
bro robbie be terrifying
@@MathewMcKenna This show is weird when it comes to romance. Just watch the Love God episode. In my opinion, it is worse than this one
@@jakubgodyn7413Love god definitely the worst episode
@@GoesHamo I think the only reason it's not lower rated is cause of Stan's parts of the episode. Everyone loved the I Eat Kids joke
@@GoesHamo I vote for the road trip episode in season 2. Not my fav. I like Sev'ral Timez.
I thought for CERTAIN the lowest rated episode was Roadside Attraction
Yeah this one is at least funny and entertaining, roadside attraction on the other hand…is just there
I think most people hate Roadside Attraction more for its weird placement in the season, rather than its actual content. If it was put in after Into the Bunker, it would have fit a lot better.
Yes, Dipper flirting and having all the girls mad at him is a little contrived, but the other stuff is pretty entertaining in my opinion. 😅
Me too
I thought it'd be Love God
@@TheNitpickChick This is why I don't like it much. Like I still watch it on my rewatches, putting it where it was supposed to be makes it more bareable.
4:30 I always forget Grenda has such a deep voice and it always catches me off guard when I hear her
14:04 And that's a very prominent topic in this show: Backwards messages
28:58 Zeus? It's Soos
Reactors think his name is Zeus all the time lmao
@@johanaytb211 Really? Mathew is the first one I've heard call him Zeus
ThUnDeR bRiNgEr!!!
@@TheTuneShifterEPIC THE MUSICAL WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE (THROUGH THE WRINGER)
34:56: I don't know. Why don't you keep watching the show to find out? 😂
Now you definitely have to watch the next episodeeee, it explains EVERYTHING
the boyband episode was a filler episode. filler episodes always get lower ratings. especially on a show that's about a mystery, because people want the story to progress and instead they get something with basically no connection to the main plot
3:20 as an ex young girl, Matthew is so real for this rant. SO REAL!! I FEEL SO VALIDATED RIGHT NOW!!
You know a shows good when even the definitively worst episode is still really funny and heartfelt and entertaining
Crazy cause I just binged all of your Gravity Falls reactions for the first time last night, so this is perfect timing
Okay now I DESPERATELY need you to react to "A Tale of Two Stans" because I can tell you're going to love it!!
The fact that Boyz Crazy is the lowest rated episode, but still a hilariously great episode, just shows how absolutely fantastic Gravity Falls is
Definitely in my top 3 favorite shows with Avatar The Last Airbender and Stephen Universe
Absolutely
@@gryphonvertOh absolutely
I'm surprised Not What He Seems wasn't actually the highest rated episode. I always got the vibe that it was the consensus best episode by a mile amongst the fanbase.
It’s definitely one of the best ones but I remember how much everyone just loss their minds when it was revealed the author was his brother!! I know little 10 year old me wouldn’t shut up about it for weeks!!
well now you gotta watch "a tale of two stans", because how are you gonna just let it hanging there...
or do binge watch it. and post it. we need to see it!!
I didn't know Boys Crazy was the lowest rated. Personally, I loved the humour in that episode despite not being into boys bands or stuff like that 😆
Boyz Crazy being the lowest rated episode is crazy to me. My friends and I quoted the heck out of that episode! Daily! So much so that it became an inside joke between us😂
Same lol I found myself finishing so many lines in that episode!! Especially Stan’s ones!!
fr boyz crazy is so funny, one of my fav s1 episodes
you should watch the whole of gravity falls (if you havent) tbh, best show Ive ever watched
I think he said he's seen all of season 1 and a few episodes of season 2
PLEASE binge the rest of the series from now on :D easily the best parts of the show, i cant believe you've been missing out on it all this time :000000
Ok but it's really funny that he watched an episode where Stan it's always talking about "preparing for the apocalypse" before watching the portal episode 😂
Society of the blind eye. And Sock Opera.
....so they are called several times because they're clones.. of course, how didn't I get it by now. 😅 12 years later this show keeps on giving.
Ngl it's a real shame you spoiled this for yourself cos one of the best parts of gravity falls is figuring out the mysteries (I still hope you watch the rest actual series though even if its just watching season 2 through since youve seen season 1)
i know nobody cares but me and my friends just finished gravity falls collabaritive art 5 mins before this was uploaded
Yo that's cool! Cool coincidence!
Yes you should watch more. Lol. You should have been watching it when it was airing to really feel the hype of that last episode, but at least now you've got a load of free content for the channel.
Ngl Matthew’s speech about the unnecessary cringe culture around middle school girl obsession almost sent me to tears
If you want context for this last episode, please watch the second part EP 12 S 2
I remember watching the previous reactions and hoping you hadn't gone and finished the show without doing a weirdmageddon reaction. I need a weirdmageddon reaction.
I would LOVE to see a reaction to the episode "a tale of two stans" and maybe also the Weirdmageddon 3-part finale
"Boyz Crazy": The Singing Clones (How about Tina Belcher's Kryptonite, "Boyz 4 Now"')
"Not What He Seems": Grunklestan's thirty year quest ends...
Also the reveal of Stanford was actually animated in house to avoid any accidental leaks by the other studios
So the only problem with the Gravity Falls finale is its 4 episodes 😂 but i would love to see you react to it!!!
OMG YES I AM SO GLAD YOU DID "not what he seems"!!! Wonderful mathew 👏👏👏👏
m8 omg u need to react to the next episode, its CRUTIAL to the understanding of the charcaters of both uncles. its also my favorite omg
10:44 hold up what? this sounds oddly familiar… *flashbacks to alien stage, especially the luka theory (WHO IS ALSO BLONDE?! i might be onto smth gasp)*
That's the lowest rated because the entire show is fantastic
I LOVE Gravity Falls! It’s such a good show
My favorite animated series ever
More Gravity Falls! More Owl House! Give us Amphibia to finish off the trifecta!
Also while I'm at it saying I want you to react to something if you do another Lydia the bard one she just released Alice's villain song Saturday and it is SO GOOD would love to see your reaction to that and some more from her
Bro, I’d love to see him react to the next episode, it’s legit my favorite episode 😂
I'm so glad someone finally noticed how self-serving Dipper's interest in Wendy is here.
Edit: A video on the last few episodes of Gravity Falls would be great!
Ok, now Amphibia! I love emotional trauma in cartoons 💀💀
Would love to see you react to the rest of the series
PLEASE do a reaction to A Tale of Two Stans next, its the follow-up to Not What He Seems, its an awesome episode and explains a ton of the backstory behind Stan and his brother
Finished watching Breaking Bad, now I can finally watch Mathew McKenna videos in peace.
I would love to see you react to amphibia's highest rated episode, now that you've done both gravity falls and the owl house, it would be really fitting.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch A Tale of Two Stans next
26:30 i love dipper's acceptance of the grappling hook
0:35 OH ARE YOU KIDDING?! Matthew! I mean, isn't this all "watching without context and questioning every second because of not knowing what is going on" your thing?! You did this to EPIC: the Musical and you refuse to watch it all in order from the beginning! Oh, I'm so angry on you, dear Matthew, I am SO ANGRY! You should be ashamed of yourself 💔
I don’t know if you watch Abbott Elementary but if you don’t, I would love to see your reaction of the show either out of context or the highest rated episode❤
The fact I just started getting into Gravity falls again this is creepy😭
Being this early is a crime (edit: LOVE YA MATHEW edit 2: OMG MATHEW REPLIED AHHHH also I just realized the dancing child did the bye bye bye thing 😭 OH YEAH MATHEW REACT TO DEADPOOLLL)

@@MathewMcKennaOMG YOU REPLIED AJDGJAHSVAJJA
Oh it gets so good from here Mathew you're in for a fun ride! Can you share your reaction to the finale with us though!
He’s been doing so much songs from Disney and Nickelodeon kids shows what if he goes really young and does their pre k shows’ songs. Like Bubble Guppies, they had some amazing songs for a kids show
I was waiting for this
"we're calling cringe everything young girls like" - not exactly the quote, but DAMN this happened to me and I feel attacked /hj
i just cot back tho the thing i was shamed for in 2013 (for no reason just because ThA gURRLs like it) (winx club yeah, btw how about watching some of those without a context)
I love gravity falls and your content❤❤
I NEED THIS MAN TO REACT TO "A TALE OF TWO STANS" OR I MIGHT GO CRAZY OMFG😭😭😭😭
Bro so literally watched his Gravity Falls videos for the first time yesterday; and now he uploads this! I am a summoner
I would absolutely watch any and all gravity falls reactions you do. So, please, don't keep them all to yourself!
Matthew needs to react to the rest of FNAF the musical. He missed so much chaos
Let me tell you something, Mat;
WATCH ALL OF GRAVITY FALLS, NOT JUST THE "LORE RELEVANT" EPISODES.
The twists and character development hit a lot harder when you really get to know these characters outside of the big dramatic scenes they're in. I have a specific character in mind that makes a DRASTIC change in the way they're written, no spoilers. There's also a lot of fun foreshadowing if that's something you like.
Also, the comedy in this series is incredible and absolutely worth experiencing just for the fun of it. Give it a chance!
It's not a very long series, 2 standard seasons of 20-something episodes each. No need for lists that cut out the "filler".
WATCH THE NEXT EPISODEEEEEE
WE NEED GRAVITY FALLS SEASON 2 REACTIONNNN THE ENDING IS SO GOOD
UESSS, please binge the whole thing and then react to the stuff after this ep its so good
He did it…He saved the town.
I’d love to see you finish the series. I’d also love to see you watch the rest of Heartstopper!
Oh my gosh, I love the Boyz Crazy episode!!! 😂
WE'RE NONTHREATENING YO!
