  • Early ACL Rehab Mistake & Milestones
    Early ACL rehab should be focused on establishing range of motion. I see many people who have had ACL surgery make this mistake in recovery. Rehab clinicians who are unfamiliar with ACL recovery also tend to make this mistake when prescribing range of motion exercises early on in the ACL recovery process.

    A lot of physios don't really know what are they doing....
    My physio obviously don't know nothing.
    Ride the bike and go home.
    I go to the gym daily and do my exercises.
    What a sham.

      Not saying you are wrong. But it is up to you to also find a physio who is knowledgeable enough to provide you with worthwhile value. That can be local, or in todays age, it's very easy to work with someone online. Many physios are trained in dealing with age 65+ doing total knees and geriatrics. There is nothing wrong with that! I am not protecting the lazy physio who just doesn't give a shit and punches the clock. I am protecting the physio who works with a different population on the regular. Then all of a sudden gets a different type of client who shows up to that physio's doorstep thinking that all physio is the same. It's time for the public to start recognizing there is a wide range of clients that physios serve. Its worth your time to do research on WHO you are actually going to be treated by instead of grouping all physios into the same category. By no way am I attacking you directly (I have no idea of your circumstances). I am just making a blanket statement because it's also up to the consumer to do their own research before starting any type of treatment with any medical provider. Just as anyone in the public would look at product reviews before purchasing. The public should also look at reviews and do their own research on WHO it is that is actually treating them

      @@sportsrehabexperts i understand your point, but I've been to 4 places now... cuz i had a meniscus repair in my left knee... and now i had and Acl reco on my right knee..
      And all this places I've been too they said that they work with my type of injuries... so once you start i can't keep switching physios all the time. I'm not a professional athlete that have a medical team behind them.
      I'm an active person who trying to live a good long Healthy life...
      And add to that the Health insurance don't cover much so ... at the end of day you gotta do your exercises by yourself and take enough time before going back to sports.
      It is what it is... but its the truth... if you don't treat the ACL , STEP BY STEP AND PHASE BY PHASE DON'T TAKE NEW PATIENT
      STICK WITH 65 YRS OLD
      ...
      I DIDN'T PUT ALL THE PHYSIOS IN THE SAME CATEGORY, BUT I SAID THE MOST OF THEM.

      @@thedreamer5168 again, you are not wrong. It's a medical system and insurance system problem where the two do not align in the patients best interest. That's a topic for a whole different debate. Don't hate the players, hate the game. Find a physio location that has and USES a squat rack and dumbbells over 25# instead of a company that says they do "sports medicine". If there is no physio that will do this or has no idea how to coach a squat/lunge/etc, find a personal trainer that will. If that doesn't exist then find someone online.

    I did ACL reconstruction plus meniscus repair 5 month ago and know I need to do arthroscopic because I can't bend my knee more than 90 even after all the physio I did. Do you recommend doing physio every day after arthroscopic surgery? And per day wow many time should exercise? Thanks so much for your help and to share all your content? I'm a big fan of your channel

      @sportsrehabexperts  2 роки тому

      Thanks Daniel! Yes, you should be doing something every day after a meniscus or any arthoroscopic. The nitty gritty details are always going to be slightly different person to person. But in general the recommendations given above do work well daily or at a high frequency. If it's not going as expected, it's better to search out trusted sources sooner than later

    • @sportsrehabexperts
      @sportsrehabexperts  2 роки тому +1

      Will definitely have more videos on exercises. But this is a VERY practical video for those dealing with early ACL rehabilitation. Essentially this is the first 20 min of education I give to any new client. We HAVE to emphasize knee extension PRIMARY and knee bend is secondary. Yes both are absolutely important but the time rush is on knee extension and not knee bend!

    Thanks for you video..Right knee ACL reconstruction (bone patella tendon bone)
    plus medial meniscus repair
    plus microfracture medial femoral condyle.
    I had the surgery in early June this year (15 weeks ago) and I still don´t have total knee extension and it is very difficult for me to bend more than 95 degrees. When I try to go more than 95 degrees flexion I feel a blockage/stiffness and I can´t bend further.
    Can you please give me some advice? I really appreciate it.
    Thank you

    • @sportsrehabexperts
      @sportsrehabexperts  2 роки тому

      Hi Daniel, sorry about your current struggle. The microfracture is likely playing a role in the difficult of both bending and straightening the knee. Your expectations and timeline will be a bit different then what was described in the video due to the microfracture and even meniscus as well. What have you been doing up until this point?

      @@sportsrehabexperts thank you so much for replying..in the first 10 weeks I did physiotherapy every day. After that I have been doing physiotherapy 2x a week and I have been doing hydrotherapy by myself every day and I'm going to the gym doing some mobility exercises and work in strength in my range of motion. Do you have any advice?I will more than appreciated. Thank you

      @@Dsferradaz that's good you are doing physiotherapy 2x a week! Only thing is that the exercises prescribed in physio can vary significantly from clinician to clinician. So what exercises have you been doing to improve knee mobility and strength? The video made multiple suggestions for improving knee extension. I would start there

  • @movingtobillings

    Hello, had acl surgery 7 days ago and am working on the extension. At the part of my injury I went 3 months prior to surgery not having full extension (and due to not seeing your videos, thought there was something preventing it from full extension) will that be a factor with extension (not having full extension for 3 months prior)?

    • @sportsrehabexperts
      @sportsrehabexperts  2 роки тому

      Yea it will potentially play a role in your recovery. Might take a bit longer, but will definitely need to be adamant about doing the range of motion homework.
