    I am three days post-op ACL. I had a full rupture, a bucket handle medial meniscus tear, a sprain to my MCL and bone contusions. Unfortunately I also have some arthritis and my injury was severe I had loose cartilage floating around they also removed. My surgeon fixed the ACL with an allograft, and cleaned up some of the arthritis I think with an OAT procedure and repaired the meniscus. I started PT 1 day after surgery, just quad sets, heel slides and ankle pumps. I am non weight bearing for 6 weeks. This is absolutely one of the hardest injuries to endure physically and mentally. My heart goes to everyone!
    Editing to say I am 38, and my surgeon told me he generally only does autografts if the person he is operating on is a major athlete or plays a sport. For someone like myself who isn’t and wasn’t an athlete, I just had a bad slip and fall for all of this, he said getting back to life an allograft is the better option.

    Victoria, thank you for the great Interview with Kero ! I just discovered your channel !
    I am a Chiropractor, athlete and Concussion nerd in the Rehabilitation field. I just sustained the "unhappy triad" while skiing.😰
    I've already started my Pre- Hab.
    Just wanted to say this video was very helpful and put some fears to rest!
    Kero, you are an extremely knowledgeable PT. I work with a lot of PTs and rehab professionals. I thoroughly enjoyed your interview and can see you are an expert, and a compassionate true leader in your field. Keep up the good work !
    Thabk you 🙏

    So leading up to your surgery did you rest your knee more or try to build up quad strength? I’m concerned to do more damage by strengthening it. So is staying off it till surgery the way to go? Or what should I do and avoid doing.

      @VictoriaDorsano  2 місяці тому +1

      I did lots of strengthening! Your doc should advise :) mine wanted me to get my quad as strong as possible beforehand

    • @peacelovebutterbeer
      @peacelovebutterbeer Місяць тому

      @@VictoriaDorsano but was your quad too strong and did that contribute to your patellar fracture?

    • @VictoriaDorsano
      @VictoriaDorsano  Місяць тому

      @peacelovebutterbeer it’s hard to say exactly what was the direct cause. Most likely many factors contributed to the fracture. But that was probably the least significant. It was more so about the position and loading of my knee in that particular angle at that time in recovery that did the damage

      Your PT will be better able to address this concern with you. Sometimes it just takes a little longer for some folks :)
