    I have watched so many videos about how to save sick aloe. I find your videos to be the best. You have excellent examples of the way you cut back damaged leaves and roots. I was shocked the plant could survive such extreme cutting, but you show it is possible. Many thanks!

    What a brilliant set of videos! I've subscribed, because once you find an exceptional, and educational source, imo I didn't need to find anymore, everything is all in one place! I've moved from a cottage with huge extensive gardens, to a tiny cottage with only wee courtyard, and I had not much success with the random indoor plants in my first flat decades ago, then later with us having a huge garden, it wasnt a big issue, but it is now. I found someone had left an aloe plant on my doorstep, at first thought it was a neighbours, but she said no, and after a couple hard cold snaps, I decided to bring it inside with intention of saving it, having loved aloe plants since I was a child I couldn't bear to watch it die. Having very little resources, and being housebound meant I wasn't able to purchase all of the expensive 'perfect' materials other blogs demand, but once my plant started to thrive after a rather unnerving cut back, some basic TLC as they seem to prefer being almost neglected, LOL!, we also had a lot of pups that came off as a result of the cut back of bad leaves. It was then I started to become inspired, and decided to keep going. Your clips have shown that we don't have to have the most expensive, very best of everything to successfully plant, save, propagate this universally loved plant:) and with your short, succinct, very clear and non fussy videos, you've shown how when even drastic and brutal methods are needed, they are successful and much better than just giving up! I love how you use easy to hand, simple items, like stones and styrofoam, nothing fancy, proving the beauty is the plant itself:). All whatever is needed to save one, includes just a bit of inspiration, ingenuity, and a great utube teacher! Thank you! My wee pups that came off as a result of saving the mother plant, I've just potted as you suggest, and fingers crossed we will have success. We also have SIX new healthy pups already growing on mother plant now too! I will wait for those to be a bit larger before moving them, and soon I hope to have a garden-house full of aloe plants;)...next up I will hope to source a few pot friendly roses, to replace the beloved rose garden I left behind, as well as explore more house plants, especially since you've given me some much needed encouragement:) I hope to replace a lost eucalyptus for our new cottage loo soon too, as the environment is perfect and the smell is amazing!! I will check in later and let you know how we do;) again, Cheers and Thank You!!

      Wow, that is a very inspiring story. I also love that your Aloe has a story, and it makes the plant precious. More often, it's not the plant that is precious, but the story behind the plant is. Thank you very much for sharing.

    Hi, I love your videos. I need help, did you water the soil when you placed the dried root and aloe parts in soil? I had a beautiful aloe, but it started having curling leaves and I found that it had root rot. I hardly water it after I bought it. Must have been overwatered at the nursery. I searched youtube for tips and chanced upon your video and I followed your video exactly. Just not sure if I should water the soil or not. Please help me, I want to save my aloe.

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  7 місяців тому +1

      If you use a moist soil, you don't have to water it. If you use a dry soil, sprinkle a little soil to make it moist. Water it only when it starts to grow roots.

    • @mq3018
      @mq3018 7 місяців тому

      I used your method and it grew thick and beautiful roots. Thank you so much. Your method works! To those wanting to try this, this method works, but it takes time. So be patient. Keep your cactus/succulent soil moist like what @thealoeveragarden advised and dry out your aloe after cutting.

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden

      Aloe vera does not produce seeds on its own, it has to be cross pollinated with other Aloe species resulting to a hybrid Aloe vera.

    I am an aloe vera killer. I can't seem to get them to grow. I have 2. One at home, one at work. The one at work everyone was dropping their excess water from their cups in it. So now it has a sign for it not to be watered. The one at home gets sunlight and is growing slowly. When I see progress I tend to water. My questions are, how many times a week or month do you water? Are clay pots better than plastic? I have rocks at the bottom of my soil. I was told it's good for drainage. Is this true?

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  Рік тому +4

      I don't have a schedule when to water the plant because it depends on the weather and how fast the soil dries. I water the plant when the soil gets dry. Clay pots are better when your plant is placed outside in full sun because it is cooler than plastic, but if your plant is not exposed to full day sun, plastic and clay pots are just the same. Use a container with enough drainage holes and use soil that drains water fast. Rocks don't help.

Idk what to do... Can you please help me😢😢😢

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  Рік тому

      The plant will be okay once you plant it back. The color change probably because of the hot weather in your area. Also, it is normal for the leaves to become thin for lack of water.

    • @Oneklickmedia
      @Oneklickmedia Рік тому +1

I cut off the bottom broken leaves, checked the roots, put into new soil, but still need a bigger pot, so secured her with sticks and rubber bands for now as she kept falling over, put her in the partial sun, as it's winter here now, and checked and now has a new baby leaf growing, hardly water her as she gets a bit splashed from the garden and after her last soaking almost died, she seems to hate water unless it's a tiny amount 💚🪴🍃

      Aloe vera can survive in very dry land. I've seen lots of them in lanzarote, which is very dry and vulcanic.
      I once had a rotting aloe due to roots too wet, i washed off the roots, took off rotting parts and repotted it with just a small layer of potting soil at the bottom, and filled the rest with clay balls, vulcanic rock should also work although they are a lot sharper.
      I think they aloe vera likes dry better than wet, it needs to breathe.
      It is doing very well now.
