- The Spider-Man 2 Game would go on to influence pretty much every other Spider-Man and superhero game that came after it with it’s revolutionary swinging mechanics and open world design. It’s a game that makes me feel very nostalgic playing it all these years later, but does it still hold up in 2023? Please Like, Comment and Subscribe for more content like this.
This era of gaming had some of the funnest games of all time. It's like that era of gaming was full of so many creative ideas. A lot of developers took risk and concentrated on making their games...fun. Definitely a great era of gaming.
I used to play this game every day religiously when I was a kid for many years, I could never complete it 100% since those challenges were very hard, but hell did I enjoy the game.
I think the reason this game sticks out so much compared to the others is just how much power they squeezed out of these consoles. To go from the original Spider-Man game to this in the same generation was absolutely bonkers. And the swinging wasn’t matched until PS4.
When you unlock max swing speed, it becomes very clear that this game still has the best traversal of any Spider-Man game to date. GOAT
Man Black Cat is hot in this game, i just wish her hair was longer.

I miss being able to steal a kids balloon..and webbing up multiple enemies and swinging them around 😂
The thing that always stuck with me regarding Spider Man 2 is how drastically different to its predecessor it was, from it’s graphical style to the gameplay. It felt like an actual sequel, and not a just a new version of the previous game that tends to happen with sequels now. Granted, that’s not exactly a bad thing, that’s just something that makes a sequel stick with me more.
My favorite random crimes were the Gang Wars. I remember when one of the thugs said "You sent my brother to the Joint!" and Spider-man blandly responded "Who says 'The Joint,' anymore?" 🤣🤣🤣
I LOVED the "fight" with Mysterio in this game!!! His health bar charges up THREE times and you're thinking, "Oh crap, I'm screwed!" then you just hit him once and it's all over! lmao
Spiderman 2 is a proof that a simple game made with care and effort can be a gem.
Wow, that balloon line brought me right back to 2004. I LOVED this game when I was a kid, especially the side missions, tokens, and exploring the open world. What a golden age for gaming.
My favorite game of all time personally. I used to play all night long as a kid.
I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to play groundbreaking games like this growing up as a kid. People just don’t understand the nuances.
Combat animations in this were surprisingly good for the time.
This game is a masterpiece.

I can't even begin to count how many hours of my childhood I "wasted" simply by swinging around the city for fun. But man, at the same time I'll be the first in line to admit it's visually kinda rough going back to SM2 after the more modern games.
The black cat theme is so nostalgic to me
