Karl is for real. Ricky has said that the moment he had a conversation with Karl when they started working together at a radio station, he knew he was special, and the most unintentionally funny person ever. The guy is 100% himself and has no biases or prejudices. Just says what he feels at all times, which is usually something ridiculous and unique. He sees the world so differently than most people lol. Sometimes what he says sounds like the stupidest thing ever. Other times what he says can be oddly brilliant, and he's predicted things that would actually go on to happen years later haha. His brain should be donated to science when he dies.
There's 100s of hours of audio content with Karl, then there's his tv shows that Ricky set him up for, like "An idiot abroad" where they send Karl to crazy parts of the world to experience the culture, and it's hysterically funny. This is my favourite thing though, the radio shows and podcast they done way back when. The animations really bring it to life. Comedy gold. The other guy is Stephen Merchant who's also fantastic and was Ricky's comedy partner in crime for many years, also co-writing the legendary "The Office" with him.
    More reactions to these please!

    • @nickarmitt4722
      @nickarmitt4722 5 років тому +1

If you want to give the full history why not say why Karl stopped. Why he fell out with them both?
They took advantage of him. His wife actually hates Ricky because of how much he has taken advantage.
Ricky Gervais is a arrogant little cretin and not a nice person. Neither is Steve. They are both arseholes who made most of their money off this stuff. This and Idiot Abroad got syndicated. The Office and Extras doesn't actually get shown that much in the UK compared to this that is always on E4 or an idiot abroad that sky reshow over and over.
Karl just cannot verbalise what is in his head. It isn't weird. It's quite common.

Karl is oddly brilliant in some of his observations and how he puts things into perspective in the weirdest ways, but then... completely stupid on other things, like not understanding basic processes. He has a strangely intriguing brain.

he's smart but more interested in working than actively pursuing knowledge that he can't get from tv documentaries and he never went to school so tho he's smart he's ignorant. i find it frustrating and disappointing when the anti-science stuff starts coming out of his mouth, and the stuff about whether we need certain animals. but he just doesn't know enough to know how ignorant he is

Karl is one of those rare cases of someone who is unintentionally funny, and has no idea why people think this is the case. But he is aware enough to know that he can make a successful career out of it. In short, he doesn't know why people find him funny, but he's more than willing to go along with it and be that person. He's one of Gods great prototypes.

I hope you react to more of these. Its such a good chat show to listen to. The cartoon part is an added bonus, but Karl.... He is just beyond ridiculous. You were spot on with the summary of it, Ricky and Steve both find Karl so stupid with the way he perceives life, he is either an accidental philosophial genius or accidental comedic gem. Karl was like a editor/behind the scenes person then Ricky brought him on to the show. The humor is that he has no self awareness like he'll say really dumb pointless things yet try and make them have a point and he's always so relaxed and chilled about everything like even though he's downbeat he's never really that bothered by the meaning of anything.

It may be hard to do reaction videos to these shows BUT it might be nice for people to just watch and laugh with you and maybe it could be a relaxing way to have a break in between making reaction videos.. you pause and reflect whenever you feel like it or in the end so you dont miss anything. I understand you were short on time but I noticed you missing a couple funny moments because of not pausing.

Ive researched alot about Karl Pilkington and even talked to people online who knew him and his family.
Karl is an extremely eccentric person He grew up with his parents in a low income housing project who were also very eccentric. Karl said he rarely went to school and just quit going at the age of 15 or so . He has a sort of child like fascination and view of the world because he basically knew nothing about it when this was filmed .Karl later traveled all over the world on a tv show that Ricky and Steve created called An Idiot Abroad where they made Karl travel to different countries with a camera crew. Ricky and Steve met Karl when they were radio DJs on a small radio station in London I think in 1999 or 2000. Karl was the guy who was their producer and edited commercials for their radio show. They quickly found out how funny and weird Karl was and started talking to him on air.

I know this upload is a bit old and somebody has probably already addressed this , however when you ask if Karl ever "Corpses", I kind of have to say that specific word "corpse" in your question cannot by applied to Karl in the context of these podcasts because corpsing can really only be done by a person in the process of acting and Karl is in no way acting. If he laughs it's because he finds something genuinely funny, the few times he has laughed on the show was usually when Ricky makes him laugh.
Now of course some years after these podcasts took place, Karl has since taken his first real steps in acting and there is footage of him corpsing when he was undertaking those endeavors (Derek, Sick of it etc.)

I feel like this is a very important public service announcement. To everyone who has only watched the podcast there is literally hundreds of hours of content from the xfm radio show. Tell your friends

Why doesn't anybody acknowledge the best part?
"You slimy little fucking boneless wanker!"
"Are you still taking to the octopus?"

Corpsing would imply it's acting, but this was all of them doing a podcast being themselves just talking.

Please watch more of these , Karl is Ricky's friend and Ricky wants us to try to get into the mind of Karl's head , as if saying to us as viewers " hey I've got this nice friend, but he's very strange , you wouldn't believe the things he Say's, I'll introduce him in my show and you can see for yourself" there are funnier episodes than this, and yes Karl really IS like this. I've heard Some people criticized Ricky and Stephen saying that they are just bullying Karl, but they're not really as I've said before they are friends. They later made a different series where Ricky wants to help Karl go out into the world, so Karl goes out traveling around to visit different countries, I think it's called " An idiot abroad" unfortunately I never got the chance to see it. Maybe someone in the comments can give you more information on that series. 😂😂😂😂.

It's interesting that Karl thinks eyes exist for the purpose of conveying trustworthiness.
