I like the two of you talking; it's one of the reasons I subscribed. I do enjoy the playing, too. I would like to hear a bit more playing in addition to your descriptions. Very nice instrument. If I could afford a custom guitar, I would choose Adirondack Spruce with Madagascar Rosewood back and sides. I prefer Madagascar over Brazilian (I played a Brazilian).
John, Thanks for showing off Ron's new Thompson Custom -D. I recently purchased Ron's CD Walking Song and really enjoyed it. A wonderful flat picker that I really miss is James Alan Shelton. He was the inspiration for spending a little extra for a TD-R-Custom, a Custom - D built by Huss & Dalton with Honduran Rosewood. Its a real priviledge to have a unique one-off guitar in your collection.
That's a great suggestion, we can defiantly try to get some bass content in, we do try to highlight all acoustic instruments. You can always send us an email or give us a call & we could try and give you our opinions on various basses anytime!
Rosewood and other exotic woods all have great grain patterns, but seems mahogany tends to be more plain, or I just haven’t seen any “wild grain patterns “
I saw a willllld flamed/figured mahogany guitar on reverb the other day. Search for collings 01 12 and see if it’s still around when you read this. I’ve never seen anything like it.
The Thompson I’m having built is also Mad/Adi with style 42 appointments, no shade top or special inlays, but I’m having snowflake inlays done on the fretboard, and having the board bound, and I’m currently just over $11k
John, get the children through college before you get THAT guitar. Your current job gets you to test drive various combinations before you buy. You know guitars I get are headed for children and grandchildren. That way I get to dream about 29 guitars.

Awesome job guys! This really makes me itchy to get my hands on the one I have coming! Sounds great !

Wow such an amazing guitar and two amazing musicians
Next week will mark 1 year since sending Christine my deposit, so I’ve gotta be at least halfway home!!!
Jeremy, the "cleaner" explanation of fubar is "fouled up beyond all recognition. "
Billy Strings "Bride" was a 2nd identical to his "Frankenstein" guitar. He has a UA-cam about the whole thing.
I'm just curious... are you guys gonna feature more acoustic bass content? I'm dying to know what the best acoustic bass is compared to an upright 😅.

John
What pick are you using here? It looks like a Tone slab 1.2mm (Frank Sullivan model)?
Will BMW be upgrading the R1250RT to 1300, too? I would expect so.
John, does that come with a personalized tooth pick or tooth brush like Taylor does with their wood scraps making cutting boards and all?

There’s quilted sapele but yeah mahogany isn’t as crazy as rosewood or maple having the insane amount of grain patterns

What's the price of this guitar?
We believe it was over $10,000 for this custom
No children/grandchildren or a custom guitar to pass along here...just me and a couple of Eastmans lol.
What does a guitar like that cost?
I would guess $10-12 K. The “base” model of that type is $8500 (plus taxes). Add in the custom inlays, etc. as additional costs.

Just realized I haven’t subscribed … my bad. Problem solved 👍
