If you have a box from BT TV its really easy to repair and replace the hard drive or upgrade it to get more storage space.
UPDATE
An update to this video: it seems better if you can use a lower power hard drive (5 volts at 0.55amps or lower seems to be the best WD & Seagate drive are OK but check the spec)

OMG, I was about to have splash out £200 on a new box and in desperation did a bit of doctor google and came across your video, quick purchase of hard drive on Amazon for £18.99 and with your clear instructions even a girl can do it! Lost my saves channels but box working perfectly, thank you so much.
Excellent video and clear instructions, after watching this video and ordering a new drive from the Ebay link supplied (which arrived after only two days) I found it relatively easy to swap out the hard drive on my BT vision box. Once installed I needed to reset the BT vision box back to the factory settings, thanks to the clear instructions on the video this was quite easy however, I did have to follow the process a few times before the Maintenance Mode came up but once it did it was easy to follow and fully up and running in a few minutes.

Hi, Thanks for this really helpful, My BT box (1Tb) keeps switching off or giving a blank screen, primarily when viewing recordings although, my wife said it also happened when watching tv (which I have not seen, but I suspect it may have been pausd so then viewing from the HDD maybe? - Do you think replacing this will work or try a hard reset first and delete all recordings?
for the price of the drive I would just replace it, you can always use it in another project if it doesnt work out.
@@repairsnstuff Thanks, I have performed a hard reset, and reloaded the software which has changed it to EE TV menus in yellow now - I'll see how that goes if it starts to give blank screens again I will swap it out thanks. BTW which is the best BT Box the 'TV 4K Recordable Box' which is 4K and Ultra HD or the 'EE TV Box Pro'
@@RobHodges-h7w EE TV Box Pro is newer has a faster processor and looks nicer so it gets my vote, I think it also has some voice control in the pro remote control
Hi great video, please can you help i have the same model as you,the issue is I switch it on and its constantly in a cycle of waking up and youview loading
this problem can be caused by the hard drive, try getting it in to the maintenance menu and do a full reset
@@repairsnstuff hi thankyou for the reply,how do I do a full reset please,I tried holding the on and ok button simultaneously but screen goes blank then back to the cycle as before
@@markrocketmangrimstead no thats not the correct method for this boxes. 1. power off at wall 2. switch on wall switch while holding down the DOWN button on the top of the box. 3. when messages "maintanance mode Y" comes on the screen press the standy by button on the top of the box.

Yes I. Theory you can, but it needs to be a low power model. Around 0.55 amps or lower.

How do you know that your hard drive has failed? My box just continually tries to reboot now, but never reaches the home page. Makes a beeping noise too
You can take the hard drive out and test it in a PC, or just change it, 80% of the time it's the drive. If it buy one same make and model as you take out you should golden
