do the ariocarpus video, brother! We will watch it! we will like it! We will share it! Cohuilinsis, and those kiko's are my favorites! Gracias, Senor! Your videos are the best cactus videos on the internet, man! Mucho Gusto! I really appreciate the field work you do!
Great video! I love Astrophytum! I grew some myriostigma over 5 years ago, believing I must sow many, many seeds as I would lose 50% each year for the first 3 years.. 🤔 (something I read on line).. So I ended up with close to 200 seedlings.. Whilst it's true I lost a good third in the first year, after that, they continued to thrive so I am now somewhat over run with them! 😆 Good job they don't grow very fast.. 💚 Capricorn's my favourite!
Awesome video! My favourite is Astrophytum asterias. I love how there are so many cultivars, forms, and patterns in this single species. I enjoy breeding them since there are so many possibilities.
Appreciate the channel and the videos. Here because I'm in love with Coehlensii or however that's spelled. Planning on getting some seeds and trying my hand at growing some.
Wow , your knowledge and collection is quite impressive. I knew nothing of this plant , and now I want to see and learn more. I have only 1 asrtophytum myriostigma that came in a tiny 4 inch pot. It grew very well on its own outside on my protected porch for a year, so I just transplanted it into a much nicer home with gritty soil. I would be very excited to see mine bloom.🤞
Awesome plants man great video. I want to mention that medusa may be a predecessor of all Astros because it doesn’t cross with any other Astro but it can cross with other genus of cacti super strange
Thanks for the info! That is an interesting theory! And I wonder if it really doesn’t cross with anything or maybe it just hasn’t happened yet. Plants are crazy 😜
Wow, this was a really good and informative video that I enjoyed. Most of my cacti are all Gymnocalycium, but I do have Astrophytum asterias, Astrophytum nudum and Astrophytum myriostigma. I hear that these Astrophytum take many years before they will bloom. Is that true? As for me, I grow my cactus for the Flowers! :) Thanks again.
Very interesting! Thank you so much for the educational video. I love this type of material. I've been wanting an Astrophytum, but the stores in my area do not seem to carry them and the on line stores don't have the kind I want, the ones that are covered in white squiggles. (How do you like that Latin!? Aehh?)
Don't you love genetics. Thank you for this fantastically informative video. I really got a lot out of it, so much so I just ordered my first 3 Astros. You say mineral soil but what sort of mineral or rocks are best, can I get from my big box hardware for example?
Very well explained 👏🏻👍🏻. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge about astro. 🙏🏻 Pls also make a video on genus "Ariocarpus". One of my favourite species 🙂
I'm new to wanting astrophytums and don't have one yet. Will I be able to meet the lighting requirements with a grow light? What's a good one to start with?
Hey there! I think you’d be able to meet light requirements of asterias without any issue. I have a few in my store in case you’re interested 🙂 www.etsy.com/shop/EastCoastCamanchaca
Caput Medusae is by far my favorite. I love that its such a weirdo! Haha I would really like to do some breeding of them and see if they have any crazy variability like Asterias does, with V shaped trichomes and such.
@@RareCactus Ariocarpus Et Cetera: The Special, Smaller Genera of Mexican Cacti, book by Bill Weightman and John Pilbeam - Do you mean this one? Thank you!
I have a very old and big Astophytum myriostigma white.. Can I repot it? It have no space in the pot, but I'm scared to kill it if I change the pot... when is the best time to repot?
you can repot them anytime, but not without consequences. the best time for least consequences is when they are dormant; that's usually in winter. you should learn about trimming cactus roots before repotting.
Yes to an ariocarpus video
Will do! 🫡
Great video! Love the footages showing them in habitat.
Glad you enjoyed it! Working one Copiapoa

Ariocarpus etcetera

Can you imagine a Caput medusae with V-type trichomes?! Holy crap. I bet someone’s working on that too! 🤩
Great video. Do you put limestone in your soil mix?
Thank you! I sell my mix so unfortunately I cannot share my formula 🤐😅
Understood. I thought the top dressing on some of your plants looked really nice. Keep up the good work.
@@peterkeightley4256 thanks so much!
I love variegated anything and, no, I can't stand grafted cacti unless it can be rooted later...lol
But they bloom nonstop! 😅🤣
capricorne is so underrated
I’m with you! I was actually thinking the same 😅
What’s the book name u r referencing?

Thank you! 🌵
I was kinda of curious and confused about all different spices does any them produce mescaline like peote and san pedro cati 👽
Sorry but I don’t promote or research consumption of cacti…
