- Detroit parents Christine and Bob share a horrifying story of how two of their children, Cora and Cayden, ended up stranded on thin ice. Luckily, local firefighters Bill and Patrick arrived just in time to rescue the kids. These grateful parents finally get the chance to thank them for saving their children, and the emotional meeting is beyond sweet.

Can we say how GREAT the 13 years old was??? He let go of the slide WHILE he was falling into the ice to save his siblings then he got out and run to his mother. Great kid
Absolutely! Great that he had the presence of mind to be able to do that in a split second! He's a hero himself! The ultimate hero was the good Lord above! There were SO MANY things that could have went horribly wrong and didn't! Praise the Lord!

@@KJP33 God had nothing to do with it. These rescue workers saved the kids. I am not sure how the parents could live next to a lake with such young children and no barriers. Have they never heard of unsupervised kids falling into the lake? They seemed to have no knowledge of what to do if the kids got on to the frozen lake. The firefighters could save them but the father could not?

As far as your comment about God you're entitled to your opinion. Did you actually watch the video? If you did it answers most of your questions. God had a hand in everything going the way it did before the firefighters got there. I am not discounting the great job that the firefighters did at all. They deserve recognition for a job well done. BTW I am a volunteer firefighter of 26 years. Although it's nice to get a pat on the back for a job well done, for me it's about helping someone out in an emergency situation and serving the public.

And for the two year old to sit that still until they were saved. And the four year old to have kept the two year old still enough till the men got to em. All three were awesome. Well no not all three, all five!!! The two fireman were outstanding

As a dispatcher myself, wife of a Sergeant, daughter of a paramedic, granddaughter of a dispatcher & fireman that died in the line of duty, great granddaughter of a Lieutenant, great great granddaughter of a Constable that was killed in the line of duty, THANK YOU to all first responders, dispatchers, nurses, trauma surgeons, lifeflight / air evac crew, good samaritans...every one that touches someone's life in a time of need and gives their all including putting themselves in danger. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You are truly a member of one of the largest angel families on earth. I too come from a line of selfless human beings and my respect, gratitude and love to you and every member of your family. I am a first responder and pledge by oath when I got my degree in medical science to always be that first responder as long as a live. I take the oath I made as my duty and will never violate my promise made to God to use my knowledge and hands to help, comfort and save as many lives as I can that become my charge. Please know Ashley that you are an amazing woman yourself and you know first hand the feeling, the dedication, the fear and bravery it takes to be that person. That one small light in the dark. I am sorry for your loss to the line of duty. They gave their lives to save another. They already had invisible wings made beautiful the moment they passed. These firefighters, your family and you are all Angel's on earth. God bless.

It's not an easy job. My high school counselor once told me "You never know whose lives you touch", and I hope you carry that in your heart every day at work, including the difficult days.

Wow! That's the same pond my aunt and uncle live on and have lived on my whole life (I'm 36 by the way). I want to thank the saviors SOOO much that they were able save those 2 kids so my family, and the other families in the community, don't have to look at that pond with different eyes if the worst had happened. 👍👍👍👍👍
I definitely know about the different ways of saying mom. Nothing else needs to be said. Once that "mom" is said u know something was wrong
So very true. We all know the moment we birth our children the difference in every cry. That never changes as they grow and learn to speak. My throat clenched when she said that. I have heard that "mom" luckily everything turned out ok in the end. She will never forget that moment ever. I am sure that if you know this first hand as well, you also remember it like it was said yesterday. When that memory is sparked, I still feel the skipped heart beat and heaviness in my chest. I pray you, this mother and any mother that knows that "mom" never experiences it ever again.

My brother is a volunteer Michigan firefighter and I know he's had this kind of training as well. They are absolute heroes and many of them don't get paid nearly enough for how much they risk their lives. I'm so grateful these kids are okay and many thanks to those two amazing men! Xoxo
Very true and they do not get recognized as the heroes they are enough either. They do it because their soul and heart feels the need to serve others in a way that only they can do. I hug every firefighter, soldier, paramedic, police officer I see out in the community and thank them personally. I am a first responder and I know that hearing a thank you is a mental job well done to these heroes. It let's them know they did their job. They are humble and argue they are not heroes, but a hug and a whispered thank you for their ears only let's their soul know they are doing it right. For everyone that puts on a uniform or scrubs to fight for the lives of complete strangers, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Firefighter paramedics delivered our second son, we went to the firehouse a week later and thanked them and brought gifts. I love that Kelly has them on, but you can go to the firehouse and thank them personally.

There were no cops in this story, don't make it about them. Fire fighters are always always always there to SAVE lives. If anything, add paramedics. Thank you to all fire fighters and paramedics for you service.
@@kyla9191 what is wrong with thanking the police? All emergency responders should be thanked for putting their lives at risk daily to save people who are in trouble. Yes you can get some bad apples in every job but that doesn't mean every one of them is bad 🤷♀️. Police Officers are the ones who chase the bad people, the evil people who wouldn't think twice about hurting someone, they run towards dangerous situations too, so yes we should be grateful too them for their service. Yes this video is about the firefighters who saved those children from a very dangerous situation but we don't know who else was involved, the Police, Paramedics & others could have been there to help, you just don't know.
They really are the least recognized heroes. I make sure they know it every chance I get. I give them hugs and say thank you in their ear so that their soul hears the truth.
@@kyla9191 the police save just as many lives. They put on their uniform to run towards danger every day to help complete strangers the same as a firefighter, paramedic, military soldier and even a surgeon. They all deserve our thanks.
@@llewisdolphins I've met some great cops. But I've never met a paramedic or fire fighter that has murdered someone or not helped someone based on race/gender/sexuality. Also please stop giving strangers hugs and whispering in their ear, that's creepy as fuck. If a black man did that to a cop he would probably get tazed or shot, so check yourself.
Wow! I am totally bawling and loving the happy ending. As a mom, those heartwrenching helpless moments are the hardest times in life to ever experience. I know those tears of gratitude from mama say volumes. The way she held onto each of them. They know without a doubt how appreciated they truly are. Thank you to every selfless Hero in that fire department! (OMG, the way the 4 yrs old says thank you "hanks" ADORABLE) I am also amazed at the clear head and jump to action from their 13 yrs old big brother. He needs to know how heroic he is and that his quick thinking saved the lives of his siblings. Hopefully he didnt suffer any hypothermia.
First responders are so close to our family, but we have a bond with firefighters that is so special. I bawled watching this. I love watching firefighters get this recognition for good things. So amazing.

I libe in phoen3 Arizona and right now fire fighters in this state and across the southwest region are fighting horrbile wild fires. I keep these men and women in my thoughts everyday to make it home safely to their loved ones. To these 2 fire fighters and all the other first responders in this world, thank you for your service and sacrifices to help keep our families and communities safe.

The 13yr old brother is the real hero in my mind. He knew he couldn't get to them. He didn't waste any seconds trying on his own making it three in danger. His thought process and quick thinking got the wheels turning fast enough that everyone was OK and this got to be a textbook rescue. Firefighters did great, but they're trained heros. Big brother is the star of this story imo.

We lost a boy in our town last winter on the lake right by our house. He was 9 I believe. Same age as my son.
So sad it just doesn't bare thinking about but obviously when you have kids you constantly worry. Hopefully his parents can find peace, obviously they will never get over the loss of their son (no parent should have to deal with that pain 😢) but I hope they can remember the positive memories they shared with their little boy 🙏 until they are reunited, he will always be with them 💙
Oh my, I am so sorry your community had to experience that. The loss of a child in a community affects everyone to the core. My love and heartfelt sympathy to the family that had to endure that. As a mom, I know how that makes us hold onto our children even harder.

Do you see how close they are to almost going into the water? 😳😳 holy smokes! I don’t know how that sled stopped so close to the edge, that is truly amazing! Thank goodness the rescuers got to them with no problems.
I know how the sled stopped, God sent an angel to stop the sled!!! Angels visit us daily.
I live in Colorado and a couple years ago we had a little boy in our neighborhood go missing. There was a major search for him. Well...there was a local park that had a pond with a fountain in the middle of it and the pond had frozen over. Well the story is he got into a fight with one of his siblings and left the house and ended up in the park, walked on the ice, lost balance and slipped and slid into the hole the fountain had created and got trapped under the ice😢 so tragic! Glad this story had a happy ending!

Ok I have to say that I don't cry often, but imagining what it was like as a mom to see your kids in danger and can't do a thing to help them. The thoughts that go through your mind.... So happy that they're ok. I'm guessing their not going sleigh riding like that anymore.
Just the way you say mom can mean different things with the attitude. I sobbed. But yes I have heard of this happening. Ever heard of the movie with breakthrough with Chrissy Metz. Same concept but the kid actually went through the ice and almost died.
Tone is everything when you know someone deeply. When my aunt died, I didn't need to be told, I heard my mom answer the phone and she just made such an intense guttural sound of despair, I knew.

Firefighters put their lives m the line for us every day. They are so brave and strong , we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our first responders.
My Grandfather was a fireman with the Salina Kansas Fire Department, I remember my Mom telling me about her Dad fighting fires around the city. He was a hero!!!!
oh my goodness. I cried so hard.. I would have lost it too. we are so ungrateful for the first responders. its so sad. I was just driving back to work and saw a young kid in his car flipping off an officer. they just dont understand. Thank you to all of you first responders
I live in Ohio, and on Dec22nd, my best friend's husband and 2 of her grandsons, ages 6&4, fell through the ice at a family farm. Unfortunately, the 4 yr old passed away on Christmas Eve.

That is why you NEVER allow your kids outside without supervision! Thank God the kids got rescued and are safe, but hopefully this mother learned a lesson so it never happens again.
She said the oldest was 13 which sounds old enough to play alone but accidents happen. Personally near a lake I'd not let any age of kid play alone, especially after hearing this!

I was on travellator and I somehow lost my balance but one of security guard rushed on upward end of travellator picked me up and thought i hit my head as I didn't stand up I fell forward but I didn't get hurt

Maybe someday we'll finally outgrown the ancient, delusional appeal to prayer and the irrational "thank god" as if somehow a force does in fact intervene upon request yet does not prevent these nightmare events in the first place. Do you really think these kids are alive solely because someone prayed and that the children would be dead had prayers not been offered? And what of all the prayers for a happy outcome that end up in death? Oh, right, the delusion that "god works in mysterious ways" and the propaganda that we'll be reunited in heaven. Humanity has a lot of growing up still to do.
