- After almost 7 years of development, the AP-PRO Team finally released TRUE STALKER, their brand new Stalker Mod. And so far it's not disappointing: brand new story with fully voiced characters, cut scenes and cinematics, completely revamped locations, beautiful fully redesigned new UI and interface, and so, so much more. The amount of work that's been put into it is truly impressive.
I've been having a blast with it so far and can't recommend it enough!

By default the game will install in /Program Files (x86). If you install it there you'll have to run the game as administrator or you might have issues saving your games. You can change to any other location of your drive.
Besides this just extract everything in the same folder, run the installer and you're good to go. Doesn't get easier than that!
The first 2 minutes of this video blew my mind away so much that I just decided to pause the game and not spoil myself, I'm going to download it right now!

I'm like 20ish hours in and I just got to chapter 3. I am absolutely loving every minute of it. This mod feels like a mainline entry made by GSC, but with a modern UI and lots of baked in QOL changes. They did an absolute stellar job!
UI is actually terrible and not fitting the atmosphere of stalker, looks like generic Unity game UI, gamma/anomaly etc. UI is much better and fitting.

stalker is one of those rare old games that just keeps on giving. thanks to the modding community i managed to discover one of a kind gem i somehow managed to miss.

This is a more accessible stalker experience, i think its a breath of fresh air for new stalker fans who want a more modern experience but dont want the ball crushing experience of gamma or efp
I hope people start making guides for all the hidden stuff soon, True Stalker really rewards exploring by hiding weapons and supplies in out of the way places
I learned this through GAMMA you find stuff everywhere in every wooden box too. It's a little too rewarding sometimes haha. But this mod is so damn good for OG stalker players
@@ryanglacier30 True Stalker actually hides useful things instead of item soup filler junk. I dont get why this mod gets constantly compared to the milsim freeplay mods when it obviously something else.
@@r3v4n21 I'm not comparing it at all I mean that you find a lot of useful items by looking around which Is amazing. But since I've played GAMMA for so long True Stalker is so easy In comparison. True Stalker is so damn professional it boggles my mind. But it's very liberal with its resources
@@r3v4n21 yeah, it was especially nice finding something as useful as a freaking suit after breaking one of the boxes in a Dark Valley, i was really surprised, and there seems to be almost every time something useful, like rare ammo (9x39, AP 556 and 545, 5.7), medkits or even guns, the only problem for me was finding gun attachments, because the first time i tried to trade with gun smuggler (who's in a train depot on a second floor) he didn't have anything to trade and i thought he won't in the future and only when i saw on one of the streams that he sells it i was like "wow, i'm probaly 2/3 way through and i didn't know that"
@@r3v4n21 Because Gamma as became the standard it took the place of Anomaly who took it from Call of Chernobyl so of course people will compare them but yeah True Stalker feel more like the base game when it come from exploring you get rewarded instead of just needing to destroy any box you see
The reason you need to run the game in administrator mode is because you install the game in program files (x86). If you install it anywhere else, you can run it normally, everything will be saved.

game is so realistic that even in game Ukrainians are taking bribes :D I remember visiting Prypiat with a guide before war and in bus they told us its good to have 5-10 dollars in change for ''security guards'' so they will be more nice and let you enter here and there @@B.L.I.N.O.V.

This one of the few cases UA-cam algorithm did a golden suggestion. The ApPro video of True Stalker was recommended to me by UA-cam 2 hours after it was uploaded, I have been playing the game since the 22 December. Man I love it, it gave me the same feeling SoC gave in 2007, outstanding work. Then I saw it here and since I do not skip any of Cheeki videos I am excited you saw the mod as well.
I just hope that people who play Anomaly/Gamma won't be comparing them too much. I mean, yeah, it's a stalker mod, ofc it's gonna be compared, but the main purposes of them are comepletely different. They can both be enjoyed for different things.
GAMMA is still superior. These games are not well suited for story stuff. Roguelike full open world with nothing blocking your progress and making it so you can go anywhere you want is best.

I think the hardest thing to replicate in a Mod like this is the A-life/AI. And honestly the A-life system is the most memorable thing in Stalker. I know some Stalker mods in other games but honestly the AI can't come close to the one in Stalker.
But Overall this is a really cool Mod. Good Job on the Developer.
Gamma feels like it just makes anomaly more fun to play through while True Stalker fells like a completely new game!

@@Lronhoyabembe Depends on the type of player imo, I struggle with gamma and dislike it because it's super anti-new player by it's nature of being a far more in-depth modpack, though I cannot disagree gamma is great for a certain type of player.
anomaly feels like just enhanced stalker, while anomaly GAMMA is just tarkov made even more difficult with strange mod choices imo, the save only near campfire sucks.

This mod is amazing. I hope it gets a lot of attention. We need high quality story mods to represent the stalker franchise instead of letting mods like Anomaly, EFP and GAMMA do that.
The stalker franchise has aged like milk thats why its not so popular
there are no high quality story mods in stalker. Its all either edgy or middle school tier writing. Can't talk about EFP but Anomaly is the natural evolution of the series. And Gamma just modernises everything.
I am tired of all the airsoft veteran milsim shit, STALKER was never about that, STALKER had a good story and lore too

It's nuts how much content and mods have been made by fans for Stalker, I still remember playing the original one and being mesmerized by how immersive it was, can't wait to see what this is like as well!
It's like they made a Metro campaign within Stalker & added modern UI/ map. Really interesting.

In dark Valley, next to the calibration tools, there's a small cabin with a gas truck nearby, there Will be a broken Window to Jump inside and behind the lockers there Is a poster with some stalker guys

This mod is perfect in every sense of the word. The graphics, the gameplay, the story, the overall presentation is just perfect. The role-playing elements are also very good, I recommend this mod to everyone.

This mod is insane ! hopefully it gets some donations and gets more updates and improvements
What's most impressive to me is that there are some huge developers today that still don't know how to make an UI that feels responsive, clean and with good functions... and here we have a MOD putting on these qualities.
"gloomy" is not "stalkery". This understanding only new players have who have tried misery and other mods based on it advertised as a full stalker experience. The original was this colorful with lush summer vibe, and it was the intended style. A paradise fill with horrors.
Exactly just like the book and the novel that it was heavily influenced by "Roadside Picnic", still don't understand why people are so obsessed with Stalker being a "gloomy" and "dark"
I've completed the mod. It was amazing, absolute masterpiece. The story is top notch, the ending is very stalker-like. Wolfstalker wrote a great tale of the zone.

What makes this amazing for me is that you get to play for different characters at the same time. This was soo much unexpected! Blew my mind actually, very promising feature

The Stalker games have the most in depth - extensive and overhauled mods of any game I've ever seen. I really don't think it can be topped.

Quality mod, beautiful, high production values, and stable? I think there's a lot to like and praise here. Even if it might have things/elements that deviate from the lore, I think most can look past that and simply let the story entertain them. Thank you to the team who brought this to the community! 👍👍

A few days ago I installed Legend Returns after seing your video, but didn’t really have time or mood for playing (I am a student in Prague, so the school shooting that happened this thursday hit hard, especially my gf, who was studying at the exact same faculty and at the floor where the tragedy happened). But seeing this I guess I will be installing a new mod after christmas and when the current situation calms down

For OG stalker players this is everything you want. I've tried story conversion mods before but never something this professionally it feels like I'm playing a brand new game. The UI and framework is out of this world for a mod team. Never get tired of seeing it.
Nope, this mod is not what an. "old good Stalker player" wants, which is well represented by lots of people disappointed in mod. It has a bad script, poor gameplay and toxic lead of creators, that bans pretty much every criticizer of the mod.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is coming out in November in the States, and I'm feeling that old itch slowly coming back. Right now I'm playing Atomic Heart and Fallout: London, but I think I may roll this into my coming weekend. I'm a big Anomaly fan and loved Lost Alpha, so any big standalone S.T.A.L.K.E.R. project is right up my alley.

So basically this is like a new Stalker game. Anomaly/GAMMA are basically remasters, taking what already exists and improving it, while True Stalker takes what exists and creates a new experience, revamping everything for a new and modern take on old Stalker... sounds interesting.
This game looks and feels like an early build of STALKER 2 that never was! I think what staves people off from mods like these that make bold changes is the offset of an unfamiliar way of interacting with a familiar world. I've never been finicky about drastic UI changes (apart from the PDA) as I always believe the soul of STALKER is imbued with the Zone itself.
This looks amazing, Stalker 1.5 while we wait for 2

glad to see an unbiased review, iv only played GAMMA but im defiantly gonna check this out. Yet another game that makes me wish I found the STALKER series years ago.
I've been very much looking forward to this mod since 2020 when I got into the franchise, and I've been having a blast with it so far. I only have minor gripes with it so far, but again it's only minor.
And now I am going to be patiently waiting for the release of Back to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R., New Project, and Oblivion Lost 3.0! lol

It is looking amazing.
What I played so far is nothing short of amazing. However after approx. 10-15h of playtime, it's getting a bit stale tbh. The missing A-Life and too linear progression are the biggest downsides as of now. If this can get fixed with mods in the future, this could become the best Stalker mod ever. Maybe include some of the CoP maps too, really would love to see these maps get the same treatment as the SoC\CS maps that are in the mod already. But quality wise they did an awesome job and I will still continue playing because of this.

Finally happy to see a mod which is not hardcore not based on anomaly. But is similar to the original games. We need more mods like these to represent the stalker community not gammar or efp they are not stalker games.
Theres a lot of similar mods, but thay are rarely getting that much polish or even English translations. Some like Winds of Time or Partial Anomaly are really cool. Or SFZ Project (although this one is just two short chapters, but one of most atmospheric pieces of Stalker like ever)

@@mubasharhassan1211 Only the western stalker community is so obsessed with insert latest freeplay mod, hell most don't even seem to know Anomaly is just a sub sub mod based on Call of Chernobyl which itself was heavily built around mods from Clear Sky. The eastern stalker community is all about story mods AP-pro is a great place for those sadly due to lack of interest most eastern based mods are in Russian/Ukrainian and your lucky to get a machine translation to english.
GoldSphere is a fun mod that did get a hand translation to english, it is unique as the story/atmosphere is set early on in the zone before it was filled with humans and thus instead of fighting bandits your mostly dealing with mutants and much more dangerous anomalies.
@@chrisrawr6177 yeah i have noticed this myself. The Eastern community of stalker is much more diverse in terms of modding they just don't play the same mod for the 50th time. They try other mods as well and their mods are also very unique as well. I have played some of them and they were really well made sadly they don't recognize here' in the Western community's.

The STALKER games are a cult classic, especially in East Europe without any modding, but the modding scene for them is just legendary. I've been having a blast with LFO for Clear Sky, Radiophobia for Shadow of Chernobyl, Lost Alhpa and after I finish Call of Prypiat ( weapon pack 3.4 ) its time to play this.
I am 100% sold, especially since it has a proper story. I never really liked the style of Call of Chernobyl or the hard core Gamma or Anomaly.
