Usually, the element of surprise is best for these, and definitely no chick-fil-a in your teeth or sliced fingers. But when it was all said and done, Hannah has a beautiful ring on her finger! I admire Hannah for being so open about her mental health journey and her struggles. I’m sure it is very helpful to others who are struggling. I feel that Adam is the man that God intended for you. He has the patience that you need from a partner when you are “ all over the place” as he said. He is obviously very mature and very invested in you, and why shouldn’t he be? You are a lovely person. The depth of your conversation about your mental health was very insightful. It’s so wonderful to see someone who is willing to stand beside you when you’re feeling anxious and uncertain. I have issues with anxiety as well as PTSD, and I really long for a relationship with a man who can truly see and hear me, but have never found that. You are truly blessed Hannah. This is such an amazing proposal story. Perfection is boring. It's always so much a better story when it all just happens on a wing and a prayer. The bloody finger was the best capper. Truly, an epic proposal story. Well done Adam! You WANT the story that has all the pitfalls and hysterical roadbumps because you will never forget it, but most importantly, it will always bring you laughter and joy to retell. Love it. Congratulations to you both. He's a keeper for sure.
Best wedding advice I have (as a twice married 60 y/o woman) is SIMPLE, and whatever that means to you. I had the big wedding with everyone in fancy clothes and all I remember of it is it was 105 in the shade and the a/c in the venue went out as soon as we got there and the kids torn down all the decor in half an hour before we even arrived after photos AND they set a table on fire w/ the candles. Then as we left for Chicago to catch a flight for Jamaica, the car window broke in the open position at 3am so it was a whole thing getting there as we couldn't leave the car there w/ an open window. lol All the planning and expense doesn't make it perfect. lol It was 40k I don't remember most of it.
2nd wedding, (it was his 2nd too), we planned a fun engagement party in a gorgeous park w/ a lake, pot luck w/ the main stuff supplied, but people could bring their fav things (it was Nov in CA) and wear whatever they wanted, no gifts needed, just come as you are and enjoy. Halfway through we snuck off during dancing to change then came down the walk arm in arm and everyone was so shocked. It turned out to be the best day. The timed CDs weren't working, so we had to get creative there, but otherwise, all went as it was supposed to and everyone was relaxed and happy and full of mai tais. lol Ended with a lovely campfire. Years later at an event, I overheard someone I didn't know telling some newly engaged guy about this wedding his friend went to that was so awesome and fun and it was MY wedding. lol I remember so much more of that day than the first because I was relaxed, fed, and having fun. So, keep it simple, whatever that is for you and the type of guests you're inviting (some have fancy friends, some don't) and just enjoy whatever the day brings. Remembering it is the best part. Let go of a vision of perfection for Instagram and focus on something that's just meaningful and low stress and fun. 2nd was about 2k and people still talk about how great it was.

Hannah, you are not alone in your anxiety! God bless you. I have been following you since your time in your bachelorette years. I have always felt a connection to you and people would even tell me that I am similar to you! I am also a believer and I am 22 (turning 23 in less than a week) and I struggle with anxiety. I definitely am my own worst enemy and it can just be overwhelming. I just started therapy and I am very excited, but also brings anxiety because there is a lot of trauma to work through. I can appear super joyful to others, but can be really struggling especially with intimate relationships. I feel like I could say so much because I truly can relate to you, but you genuinely are a role model to me. You show me that there is purpose in keeping going. God uses all things for good, even the hardship. Just know, you sharing your stories allow me to work through and keep going. Your life is being used for good! I HAVE RELATIONSHIP ANXIETY TOO!!! But you show me that God will eventually provide someone for me and I am excited to see who that person will be.
Oh Hannah... you are affirming me so much right now! You really are so amazing and you make me feel so much better about myself and not so alone. I can relate to alot of what you've said so far about your engagement and mine was a couple years ago. I'm so happy you have Adam. This episode truly shows how good he is for you and worthy of you. Whoa, I absolutely love this talk. I also struggle with relationship anxiety and completely understand the fear that comes with the constant "is this enough?" I love what you said about these questions only existing to cause fear and anxiety within ourselves. Sometimes it feels like this constant fear and anxiety will be there. Which is why being single is always emotionally and mentally better for me haha.

Where can I find an Adam!? I relate to you so much, and to be fully seen and still chosen. It seems so foreign to me and like there's no one out there that will be able to do that, but you and Tanya have both found these gems of men that are so fully accepting and emotionally mature. It's hopeful.

Make sure you want to BE married more than you want to GET married. That is the best advice I have seen. Statstics for relationship success after the huge lush stressful expensive weddings and drawn out engagements are not great. A wedding is one day, and a marriage should be forever. More effort should go into nurturing the relationship than planning the wedding. 🎉
ALSO: Ketamine therapy for anxiety. You deserve to feel stable.

All I can say is that Hannah is one very lucky woman when she found Adam. I hope she finds can find some meaningful and fulfilling work to do and take the focus off of herself and be a positive force.

I just feel pressed by the Holy Spirit to say this to you. I have recently walked through a season of processing trauma. It started because I had lost closeness with Jesus so depression and anxiety set in quickly. On the journey, I did process several traumatic events, but I had a pretty significant revelation. Jesus is enough. Never take your eyes off of him. The loops start when we take our eyes off Jesus just as Peter did on the water. Matthew 14:29-31 Therapy is amazing and therapists are a gift, but scripture is the truth that will never waiver. I never realized what the enemy was doing in my mind because I had made therapy my idol. You cannot renew your mind. Your therapist cannot renew your mind. Only the Holy Spirit can renew your mind. Romans 12:1-2.
God has a mighty purpose for you and Adam as a marriage covenant on mission for the kingdom. It does not surprise me that the enemy went after it hard around the proposal. It brings me joy to see you both resist the enemy and to watch Adam love you just as Christ loves the church and gave himself up for her. Ephesians 5:25
