Just had to say one of the better videos to watch. I think the music is very well suited and your talking style is just fine.
I'm a devotee of the sprint.
All your comments are fair and well thought out.
Yes the sprint is a beautiful thing with a great engine.
I've actually got some very detailed information about them but your delivery is sublime.
The gears are clunky because the gears are straight cut instead of slanted. This gives the bike's gearbox an agricultural feel but the straight cut gears handle the torque better than slanted... apparently.
The bike can actually be assisted to start in the morning by priming the pump a few times by switching bon the ignition a few times. I think the fuel pressure might not be adequate for the first start..
    Love the mug.
Yes I did enjoy your first edition..so I'll subscribe.

I have a 08 sprint, have had it for 4 years. Just add the Corbin seat and you get a key. No more two screws.
I have crashed and laid this bike down lots of times. It smashes pretty easily but repairs just as easy.
Fairings are not easy to find in good condition nor are they cheap if you do find a pair beat up. Best chance is just to repair your own.
When I bought the bike it was at 13,000 miles now it’s at 65,000 miles. All I have done is regular oil changes and a new battery. This bike rides like the day I got it.

Great straightforward review and to the point... I’ve got a late 2009 model and had for nearly 3yrs now ... in the gray (best) colour.. I’ve changed the oe indicator lenses to clear, added 25mm bar risers, changed the original crappy headlights to LED”s which are miles better now, changed the rear shock as the adjuster was seized, fitted a second 12v marine “cigarette style” charging outlet keeping the original so can use a range of devices... got 42k miles on the clock and still going strong.... just recently greased the rear hub bearings and fitted new rear pads.... all the bike you need really!!

Second time around for this clip. Like it still. Just picked one up, few issues, but reasonable overall. Brakes, and a clicking sound from the back wheel in spite of new chain and sprockets. Will recon the hub and cush tomorrow.

I have owned my 2005 ST for 5 years and have not had any issues with it what so ever. Comfortable with no shortage of power. Agree with most of your comments. Reg/rec is a common issue. Always serviced on time to Triumph's specs goes along way to trouble free ownership.

Good review. Very on point. I enjoyed about 50.000 km on the Sprint ST. Nowadays i'm riding a Speed Triple. But sometimes i miss that perfect riding position. Sporty and comfortable.

Agree with most of this although I found the standard seat on my 09 to be really uncomfortable after about 150 miles so changed to a Triumph gel seat picked up cheap from ebay. Seat fixing is stupid!
Headlights are rubbish but I've fixed that by changing the nosecone, headlight and screen for the GT parts which were a straight swap except for paint. Much better lighting and looks so much sharper.
Everything else about the bike is great and having owned it for nearly 14 years, mine still looks good.
Keep on top of the straightforward maintenance regime and it will reward you with reliability 👌

Good Review. Not heard of rectifier issues, i will look at my history to see if mines been replaced...cheers.
My Sprint ST 955i has the key and seat lift...curious why they would remove to only put back on.
She's a little cranky but still a cracking motor and with a new racetec battery my starting issues disappeared

Gona get a 2006 blue one soon, cant wait!
Had sibgle cylinder bikes, 4 in line (the most), twin on TL1000r and twin on Moto Guzzi Griso 1200, paralel twins, but never triples.
Looks by the sound they're exciting to ride.

Great un biased review! Have just purchased an 06 in blue. Used to have the 955i but it was a little short for me-1050is ultra comfy and mixes the best of both worlds for touring and playing. Any chance you could show the cellphone mount you mentioned?

    • @1clickin129
      @1clickin129  4 роки тому

Hi and sorry for the late reply. The phone mount I was using at the time was just a really cheap MTB unit and so found it could come loose too easily SO I've now just purchased a quad lock and hopefully this will be a bit more substantial.

does the switch and ECU of that model have the same program and code? That is, do they have an immobilizer antenna? Do you have a lock key set for that model? If the jack sensor is not connected, does it cause the ignition system not to act?

    • @1clickin129
      @1clickin129  3 роки тому

No, this model is too old for that. It has a standard key, no immobiliser.

Mainly the regulator rectifier (check charging) and also the sprag clutch can fail particularly if the bike has been started a lot on a low battery. Faster cranking is better for the sprag clutch. Have a google for more info. Good luck with your purchase.

Agree with ever thing you say. Those fucking 2 bolts to secure the seat are a nightmare, perhaps the worst thing about the bike for me. At first I really couldn't get them to go back in when refitting the seat and would curse and swear at such a cheap shoddy design by Triumph, but now have got better at locating them over the years. Who ever thought they would be a good idea at Triumph should be bloody sacked! Awful design. But you forgive yourself for cursing and swearing at them them as the rest of the bike is pretty good.
It might have been handy for you to have mentioned your height and leg inseam to give people an idea of sitting on it. I like you find it very comfortable and can ride all day on it. I'm 5'7" with 29 inch leg and can just get both feet down sitting on it which brings me to the only other downside I've found is that can feel a little top heavy when manoeuvring slowly and so you have to be careful especially when the tank is full.
Coincidentally I have just bought a replacement Yamaha FH020 regulator which I need to fit. A lithium battery does make a lot of difference as they are so much lighter than older tech batteries.
I don't do a huge mileage on mine and change the oil every season. I don't ride in shit weather so mine is still pretty mint with 13k miles in the clock now. I've owned it since 2014. It's a dark blue '08 model with the allegedly upgraded slightly better headlights and metal tank. Agree with everything you say about the engine. It has a great character, burbling and spluttering on the down shift. You are spot on with the bike's performance and suspension. Mine had a supposedly full Triumph service history when I got it which counted for nothing as when I checked the brake fluid it was like old tea and the coolant like black coffee so these were renewed straight away. The air filter must have been the original as it was absolutely filthy. The air box was full of leaves and debris and spiders. So the previous owner had paid their localTriumph dealer to service it but in reality the dealer had done fuck all to it. Mine only had 7k miles on it when i bought it so not too much damage was done to it by the dealer's neglect. I service it myself now and have had no problems with it at all. Mine is not left outside and I don't ride in shit weather which helps a great deal.
I too swapped the brake pads for EBC HH sintered and with new brake fluid has massively increased the stopping performance, especially the rear brake. Not as good as Brembos but good.
The fuel gauge not registering full until you have ridden about 1-1.5 miles is a PITA but this seems common to all Triumphs. Even the recent Street Triple RS and Speed Triple RS do the same. No other bike I have ridden does this so this is a Triumph quirk. You would have thought Triumph could sort this out so a full tank registers immediately on the dash gauge?
I have been thinking of changing mine for a Speed Trip RS as I loved that when I test rode it. The newer 1050 engine is so much freer reving and it feels so much lighter and faster, but I haven't yet and still got my Sprint at the moment. They are great bikes. As a sports tourer they are pretty good. The panniers look nice, but they are a bit small.
Thanks for your review. Seen a few reviews of these now and yours is the best so far. Looks like you have some great roads to ride in south Australia.

@@1clickin129 Nice bike. Enjoy it. You have the outdoors in Australia to do so. You couldn't enjoy an adv bike properly here in UK. And another thing I really hate about the Sprint is you have to lift the fucking tank up at the back a little to get the battery out which means undoing those fucking two bolts securing the fucking seat then remove the fucking bolts holding the fucking rear fairing just to able to get the long bolt holding the rear of the tank. If you have the pannier rails on it is a fucking finger and knuckle scraping job to just get your fingers in to get a wrench on the head and nut of the long tank bolt with the rear fairing loose. And then it all has to be done in reverse when putting the fucking battery back! Time for a change of bike I think. Enjoy your day in Oz. Where in Oz are yoy?
