  • This has been a long time coming, finally after recovering from a sprained ankle I can get back out into the woodlands for a wild camp.
In this video I'm looking forward to trying out a French army ridge tent otherwise known as the F2 Oh and a nice steak to top it all off👍🏻
It's a real pleasure to have you join me, I do hope you enjoy watching.
Here's wishing you all the very best that life has to offer.

Here's some info on the tent:
French army ridge tent aka F2 nylon single walled : Length about 2,1 m, width 1,4 m and height1 m
Weight for the whole set about 3,5 kg, of which about 1 kg is for the pegs that come with it.

Hi mate, thanks my friend👍🏻....My son suggested I ought to put the clip in lol. Ah yes always best to seam seal. Thought so, crazy just how big the holes are in the bug netting isn't it. Oh no so I take it you got devoured by midges then...😲
Thank you very much for watching

@Owen Lee Hi Owen, that was my first outing in the tent, there were a couple of light showers but nothing heavy enough to tell if it's fully waterproof. The material is waterproof as it's nylon, if it's going to leak it'll be where the fabric is joined (stitched) I'm going to seam seal mine to make sure. All I can do is recommend you seam seal yours also my friend👍🏻
Thank you for asking advise Owen, I hope I've been of some help to you.
Thank you very much for watching
      Have a lovely evening

Welcome Owen, I use clear silicon sealant and white spirits...I do a 50/50 mix of both and it's just right.👍🏻
      Take care mate

    • @BlackCountryWoodsman

Hi Maria, it's not too bad here in England for wild animals...As in animals that could be a possible threat. Badgers-foxes -roe deer-grey squirrels- bats and adders are just a few that live in our woodlands.
I'm always on private land and not supposed to be there Maria, I do no harm and leave the woodlands as if I'd never been. Yes Ive been seen a couple of times through the years the one time through me rushing and using equipment that didn't blend into those particular woodlands, but nothing bad has ever happen. Infact one of the times I was seen I met two really nice people mother and daughter they happened to be (daughter) into wild camping👍🏻We keep intouch to this day lovely people👍🏻🌳🌳🌳😊😊🌳🌳🌳

I’ve enjoyed just losing myself in your videos and enjoying them, I’ve only just followed you in the last few days so I’ve got plenty of videos to get through. This tent was a nightmare when stationed in places with high humidity like Guyane. The mesh was never designed to stop tiny bugs. Just to provide a structure for the vents. Used to buy our own personal bug nets and rig them inside with tape and a wire.

Hi, nice to see you out again! Awesome video, you captured the bluebells amazingly, I could almost smell them without smell-o-vision by the end haha. Loved the camera panning from the treetpops to the floor to reveal the bluebells in the morning.
I caught some of this video when it first came out, but couldnt finish it right away and now finally got some time to sit down and just watch it properly.
Wow that fall looked painful especially with that pack on your back to add to the impact. I could swear I heard the crunch of your ankle (or possibly and hopefully just a branch) as your body hit the floor. Im glad you have recovered enough to get out again and amazed that you timed it perfectly for the bluebells.
Also thanks for the detailed look at the tent and stove. I think I liked those mesh side windows the most on that tent, a genius feature. After trying tarp camping I really do wish more tents came with some sort of window. The stove looks pretty cool, especially like the fact that you can burn wood in it, does look like I would prefer it to be a bit taller though - I wonder if they would stack up well.
Haha when you were making that drink, for a second i thought you were about to have a hot steradent drink, was thinking that is a new idea.
Hope all is going well and you manage to get loads of trips in this summer.

      Hi there,
Aw thank you very much🤗 Oh yes a woodland filled with beautiful bluebells is wonderful on the eyes and nose👍🏻😊
Ah heheh yes thats my ankle you can hear, well I remember the fall and right at the time of impact I feel the pain and right at the same time that snapping sound. Hahaha! I think my ankle has developed a weakness there after my stupidity....I shall never try that again I can assure you my friend 😃
Ah thanks, yes its a great tent and a real bargain for the money, people have had condensation issues with these but I've yet to.
Urgh heheh! Hot sterident now there's a drink with a fizz! Can only imagine just how vile that would be...
Yes the stove is superb and I think I personally prefer it over the trangia triangle👍🏻 Ah cool to hear your opinion on it mate, I like the the way its short'ish because I feel its more stable that way. Love your opinion about it'd be cool to stack it higher, goes to show we all have our own ways and views✌🏻

@@BlackCountryWoodsman Oh damn I was really hoping it was a branch, though it did sound like a joint noise somehow. Well hopefully the weakness you are feeling in it is not permenant and will heal back to perfect in time.
Thanks for more details on the tent and stove, I can see how the stove is perfectly tall for the fuel burners you use though.
Haha I think it was just the way you introduced the sterident container, (think it was "Ive got my sterident bottle here" or something like that, just muddled me up for a second haha) soon as logic kicked back in I was pretty sure that it was not the plan.
Thanks for the great wishes, I hope youre having a super day yourself!

Oh hey dude, I'm watching this vid, guess why? I also bought one of these but I went for the F1 which is canvas I believe.
Also, went out a week ago in the Dutch tent I just got, it rained almost all night which was great! yes, unfortunately I got the older version of the dutch tent so the zips aren't covered. Despite all the rain the only ingress was in two of the corners and both corners were a bit wonky due to first time setting up and it was getting dark - plus I had a 8hour British ORP ration to film so it was rushed a bit... but there was no dripping from anywhere in the roof onto my sleeping bag, I was fine.
My advice to all these guys who say that the dutch tent is crap is that they should keep them for inner woodland camping and not exposed / meadow camping, as for me, if the rain comes from above only and not sideways then there's no problem, but as you say, some of them probably bought the lower grade ones then expecting miraculous quality.
Was the french tent a very new purchase? Any reason why you haven't had / uploaded a camp using it again?
    Cheers man

Hey Mike, long time no speak, glad you're back out and about and on the mend, cool tent, I got a tick the other day, may of put it on Instagram can't remember, certainly put it on FB, frigging hurt when my Son took it out, I'm defo getting a tick remover as I couldn't do it myself with tweezers as awkward angle... that was half a cow not a steak! Man, I'd be dead if I ate all that bread... carbs of doom. DD Jura 2 😁. Lee

    • @RobertsBulgaria
      @RobertsBulgaria 5 років тому +4

Just dab some alcohol or surgical spirit on the tick and it will loosen up its headlock in your skin. You don't really need tweezers or those tick removers as it will release easily on its own accord once it gets a taste of the fluid and you can pull it out with your fingers albeit, wash your hands after the event and kill the bloody tick by burning, crucifying or stomping, don't flush it down the loo, it will come back to bite you another time. I hate the bloody things and with 6 dogs, I'm removing them on a daily basis.

Hi Lee, yeah it's been a while hasn't it fella...Thank you that's very kind of you, I guess it's inevitable that we shall get a tick now and again, I've always been lucky or I just ain't seen one on me lol. The best and safest of ways to remove a tick is not to smother it in lotions etc, as this makes the tick expell (puke) into your blood stream and high chances of getting lymes. The twister is quick and removes all the tick including it's mouth parts.

The idea is an old one, all you do is find a decent branch (cut it to size)and sharpen both ends to a point- one of the sharpened ends you stab into the ground and the other fits in the end of the table that furthest away from the tree (where the 3rd hole is) There if done correctly the table should be very sturdy and level.

I'm really pleased you enjoyed watching Mark, means so much to me

BLUEBELLS! My favourite ❤ I think we *can* believe how happy you are to be out again :) Might be a good idea for you to get a pair of trekking poles for walking. Will put less strain on your newly healing ankle... Just a thought anyway. Anyway ill shut up and watch the rest of yer vid. Great to see you out and about again.

      Hi Caroline,
Oh believe me I was ecstatic just a shame it's all over so quickly. Yes the bluebells are so beautiful, especially with the ferns unraveling between them.....and as for the scent...Wow!
Thank you that's a really good and kind idea Caroline, I'm pretty much healed now and believe me I shall never attempt anything like that again with a full pack on my back!...👍🏻🤕👍🏻🤣🌳🌳
I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video, I thank you so very much for your support and kind words Caroline🤗
Hope you've had a good weekend

Haha! I thought I was the saft bugger when I did my ribs in trying to climb a wall I’d climbed many times before, only with a full pack on. Out of action for over a month too. It’s the pack what did for ya I reckon mate, we underestimate it. I mean neither of us would try to do what we did when we got injured if we were giving a toddler a piggy back would we? Be madness. We live and learn... 😂. Anyway, as ever, a real treat this vid Mike, loved every minute. And I do like the look of that tent despite the shortcomings. It fits in your vid perfectly, ace choice 👌.

      Hi matey👋🏻😊🌳🌳🌳
Heheheh! We make a right pair 👍🏻😃🌳Yup man down for a month plus also...I shall never ever do such a ridiculous thing, that's rushing and not thinking heheheh. Oh my that sounds really nasty mate🤕 Sorry to hear gravity also got the better of you😲😉
Very good point about the toddler and piggy back! 👍🏻🤣👍🏻Truth!
Thank you so much Rich that's really nice of you to say mate, really appreciated 🤗
I've got stuff to catch up on and I'm looking forward to watching your vids tonight...I know I'm in for a treat as it's a brill channel. 👍🏻
