Enjoyed the video. I have been using the Apex for a couple of years now and have found a lot of stuff with the machine and I still learned some things from you, Most notably to maintain a good swing technique. Thanks
One and three eighths, could be a Welch plug, from a motor. Warren thanks very much for the informative chat on the Apex. I’ve seen quite a few detector videos, who have tested the Apex, but none have gone into the depths that you have.
Just picked up an Apex in a black Friday deal, saving me £100 . glad to be back into Metal detecting after 15 years away. used to have a GTi2500. looking forward to using the Apex and even the misses has got herself an Ace 300i.
Sir! Thanks so much for taking time to make this video on the Ace Apex Multi-Frequency. I just purchased one! Found this information very exciting and helpful demonstrations. Blue Skies- Kenny
An interesting and informative video Warren, I can imagine its very useful to detectorists who use or are interested in the Apex machine, I have realised over the years I have been watching detecting videos that they are evolving each year and though to me they seem very complicated I am beginning to understand how they work and the ways in which they differ. The US fork was a great find for Colleen, especially as it was her first, well done sweetheart. I liked the old coins too, the coins of my childhood will always be special to me in fact my memory is not so good now but I still understand the old currency lol. The coke bottle is a lovely find, it came a long way to end up in the Australian bush, a shame the top had disappeared. I have heard the sound that was noticeable before in Australia though I know what makes it I can't spell it lol, an insect I believe beginning with a C . Time for my dinner so cheerio my friends, take care and stay safe please, God bless you both love and hugs Mary-Ellen UK
Thanks for watching Mark, no we don't actually use the Pinpoint function on any of our detectors - just as easy to do a 'DD wiggle' then use the Propointer. Constant use of the Pinpoint function will tend to drain the battery quicker too on any machine. Cheers mate and Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Great review - thanks. Question in reference to the charging port, I hear through the grapevine that some APEX owners have been successful at adding a permanent small magnetic charging lead to the port that is left on all the time and fits under the cover for magnetic charging. We all know how ports can get discombobulated over time - your thoughts.
No problem with the charging port itself - we have had to replace the small rubber cover which took some damage at some point. Happy Fossicking! Warren.
If your budget allows, I would go with the Apex every time. A lot more features and a much more capable detector, and one that you will never have to upgrade from. Cheers mate. Warren.
G'day Warren & Collen, The 1⅜ item is called a Welsh Plug it is fitted to engine blocks were the water galleries are machined. I thoroughly enjoyed the video mate & picked up quite a bit thank you very much, I've saved it for future reference as well, would it be asking too much if you could do a similar video on the Garrett AT Gold please mate. Sitting down in the Australian bush with a Vegemite & Cheese sanger how much better could it get Mate & Happy Australia Day as well. Thanks' again Mate & Happy Fossicking, Steve.
The constant noise in the background are the Cicadas in the bush as it is high summer here. No getting away from it at this time of the year LOL. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.
Wow. What a video! Came for the review of the Apex... stayed for the great finds! My partner and I just bought a 17th century house with a lot of history (used to be an inn) and looking to sweep the gardens with a detector before doing some landscaping - this detector might be overkill for that. What do you suggest?
Thanks for the comment Matt, yes the Apex is perfect for your landscaping project - with its ability to discriminate the iron and pick the good targets. Good luck and Happy Fossicking! Warren.
have you ever come across weird things in the Bush Warren ,as in seeing things in the distance that puzzled you as in whats that, i think you know what i mean?
Thanks for watching Lee, no it doesn't. All the APEX Multi-Frequency searchcoils are DD configuration. They are Ripper/Viper/Raider and Reaper in increasing size. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.
Thanks for your comment Jason, the basic Apex is $AUD899, the Apex with the MS-3 Wireless wifi headphones is $AUD1,035. Cheers mate and Happy Fossicking! Warren.
just got an apex with the viper coil I'm loving it so far. when your searching for old coins like penny's etc what settings do you prefer? mine is currently set to zero, high sensitivity, MF not sure if I should have iron audio on or off?
Thanks for commenting. I would generally run with Iron Audio on at all times. But at a lower volume than your target audio. That way you always know the extent of the site through the scatter of iron artefacts. Hope this helps. Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Strewth! Warren was so convincing that I nearly went out and bought one. I then realized that my wheely walker would interfere with it. bugger! The males Warren look after the nest. They get a reward for doing so. Why didn't you show your viewers the work they do? Well said about the pinpointer. I don't see the point of a long-range pinpointer.
Great video... Thanks. I like you two...nice folks having a good time outside. Awesome!!! The 1 3/8 looks like a "Soft Plug" or "Freeze Plug" Used in engine builds... Check your googles
Seen lots of reviews on this machine no one has mentioned about 5 tones before your saying it really inhances the machine Thank-you very much.
Great informative video. My Garret Apex is my first detector so it's all new but found I think I understand most of the concepts presented.
Enjoyed the video. I have been using the Apex for a couple of years now and have found a lot of stuff with the machine and I still learned some things from you, Most notably to maintain a good swing technique. Thanks
verry good video. what about the depth scale , those 5 boxes?
One and three eighths, could be a Welch plug, from a motor. Warren thanks very much for the informative chat on the Apex. I’ve seen quite a few detector videos, who have tested the Apex, but none have gone into the depths that you have.
Thanks for your great comment Hayo, much appreciated mate - Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Excatly what I was thinking ha ha! Welch Plug! @NQExplorers is it Brass?
Yes mate I believe it is brass. Although we haven't cleaned it up yet. Nice work on the I.D!

I recon that last relic is a cor plug from an engine block👍
Nice video, by the way.
Brilliant thanks I've been doing this years Nd your video is still really helpful glad I found your channel Phil 😊
Do you use the pin point mode on the apex? Or do you find it useless.
Warren.
That is great question 🤔.
Hi from Spain i am a metaldetectot i have also Apex, greetings from Barcelona my name is George, nice to meet you , nice video.
Nice video and great advice on setting low sensitivity on the pinpointer.
Great review - thanks. Im getting one and i cant wait to get my hands on it.
Sounds good Lee, you will find it is an awesome machine. All the best mate and Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Its a brilliant detector lovely on the beach behaves really well and i've just ordered the wireless headset now.
Watching this from Austria (the other Australia ;-).
Thanks for your tips, it helps us a lot to get a hold of this new detector!
For a total beginner who's never metal detected before in the UK and wants to get started, would you recommend the 400i or the Apex? Thanks
If your budget allows, I would go with the Apex every time. A lot more features and a much more capable detector, and one that you will never have to upgrade from. Cheers mate. Warren.
The small difference in price makes the Apex the choice in every case! It is a far more capable detector.

Another fine video warren but what is that high pitched noise.
The constant noise in the background are the Cicadas in the bush as it is high summer here. No getting away from it at this time of the year LOL. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.
Exalent tutorial, much appreciated.
So you can use the Apex in multi frequency or separate single frequencies wow that is cool 🛸👍🏽
Thanks for watching and commenting - Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Awesome video on the apex mate 👌

the last item looked like a welsh plug or frost plug for engine blocks and heads
Really informative video
have you ever come across weird things in the Bush Warren ,as in seeing things in the distance that puzzled you as in whats that, i think you know what i mean?
info great ,is that a cracked screen Warren?
Not a cracked screen mate, that is just cobweb from the Golden Orb spiders which are everywhere through there. LOL. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.
@@NQExplorers Cheers
What is the best mode if u want to find gold bars? I'm newbie
Really good channel well explained on settings thank 🇬🇧🚒👍
that last item looks like what we call in America an engine freeze plug.
Cheers!
Thanks for watching and the I.D. on the freeze plug. Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Apex looking good 👍🏽🛸
What type of cleaner do you use?
Sir this depth range is 10 inches, but if 5kg gold treasure under 3 feet means, will this detector detects or not... Plz clarify my doubt
Super! Thanks. New to this.
Does it have a concentric loop?
Thanks for watching Lee, no it doesn't. All the APEX Multi-Frequency searchcoils are DD configuration. They are Ripper/Viper/Raider and Reaper in increasing size. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.
Watching from Texas I keep with my Etrac Minelab 🛸👍🏽
What price range are we looking at for one of these machines? Cheers
Thanks for your comment Jason, the basic Apex is $AUD899, the Apex with the MS-3 Wireless wifi headphones is $AUD1,035. Cheers mate and Happy Fossicking! Warren.
just got an apex with the viper coil

If it is copper the 1 & 3/8 may be the inside diameter and is a cap for a copper pipe.
1 and 3/8ths could be a frost plug for a motor.

Came here to say that. Definitely a freeze plug.
the 1 3\8 lid is a engine Walsh plug
Awesome. U remind me of Muldoon from Jurassic park. First movie
G'day mate !
1 3/8 is a welsh plug for a car moter.
Right on - sacrificial metal engine blocks for electrolysis
@@craigcouchman11 Plugged a hole too. Leaked when eaten through.
1 3/8 is a freeze plug for a motor
looks like a 1 3/8 welch plug
Thanks for the info on the welch plug - all the best and Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Engine Coolant Freeze Plug...looked like
Cheers mate - thanks for the info! Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Are the circuit boards made in USA or China ?
Daza the boards are actually manufactured and burnt in at the Garrett factory in Garland, Texas. Cheers mate. Warren.
