Might I suggest on wrapping the coil wire on the shaft, invest into a velcro strap , you can keep the chord snug on the shaft but use the velcro strap . Secure the coil wire to the lower shaft 7-9" above the coil keep a little play in that wire, you want some room in there in case you grab a branch or catch your coil and force straighten it out where it pulls on the wire where it attaches to the coil. That's how a lot of coils get ruined. You have to keep some play there . A velcro strap up at the top end also keeps stress off the coupling nut going into the housing. That way the wire can stay snug , but the wire has give where it is needed.
Great tips Dawn. I had a really old machine that recommend that you hold the machine with the coil up in the air whilst turning on, then ground balance. Hello from Michigan. Diggity dig dig dig!
User Error...Then there's User complacency.. I've been around for a LONG time, and get using one setting when I should be keeping familiar with more settings. The modern detector has many settings and we detect in many different situations. I just recently reminded myself to try something different, I learned something (again) For I have to relearn every so often. Detectorists who (find the good stuff) have to (Work) and know the detector and what it is saying to us. The treasures are there, you just have to be diligent.
Thanks for the great tips Dawn! I was told by a Garrett rep at the Isle of Sheppy rally to always switch on with the coil in the air. Also when ground balancing press the balance button with the coil in the air then balance. 😊
hi thanks for the info . missed you at the club dig last year due to being in hospital sadly. now i am thinking of getting one , would you recomend one . happy diggggin
My Gti 2500 worked great till I used it on hollowed ground and it stopped working instantly, I sent it back to Garrett and they are trying to figure out what happened to it , I’m waiting
I just purchased the Ace Apex. Trying to learn it,and you have been very helpful, but at the same time,I am like “aaaah! What have I gotten into???” I’ll get it sorted, and begin my searches, here in Ohio,USA
Dear Dawn please explain the term "Pissing it down" I am a wee bit bemused, not to mention perplexed. Anyway dear I can't replicate any of this advice on my detector.
What about the at max I just got one and want to go down to Missouri to my nieces and go relic hunting there was a battle by we're she lives and there is a old fort and a old stone wall to hunt around
Hi. I have a problem with my apex needles. I can't stabilize it. When I detect it, other sounds are heard more slowly. .Should the coil be defective? A snot help. And by the way I detect in Romania.Thanks.
Another great video DC!,...Is there any hidden meaning to the background picture at the start of the "Dealing with Interference"segment?. 😄...great looking bunch they are ..lol
Looks like an awesome machine! I’m blessed to have my equinox 800 as it was a gift from a friend! I could never afford it! I gotta say I’ll always love your Maxie, no one uses that machine better! Thanks for the tips! Be safe and HH 🎧⛏
I’ve asked around to so many people and no one will help. I’m a casual coin/relic hunter. I’m torn between the Apex and AT Pro. Which one would you choose and why?
@@DiggerDawn I feel like a celebrity has replied to me lol. I went with the AT Max, and your videos have really helped me. I’m still searching for my first Indian Head penny here in the USA. Thanks for your videos!
The reason switching the headphones from right to left might work is because if you're holding your detector in the left hand and the wireless receiver is on the right side of your head you could be blocking the signal. But to be fair it your head is enough to block the signal of your headphones then either your transmitter or your receiver is garbage and you need to get a better one. Getting new headphones for a new receiver is easy but if you've got a bad transmitter built into your detector then you might be better off using a wired connection or getting a 3rd party Bluetooth transmitter.
i wouldnt run the coil wire round the front of any machine as can cause a false one bleep signal, always run your coil wire round the back of stem first
all this info is basically abc for metaldetectors . but i find it strange how many videos there are about the apex being unstable , chatty and not waterproof , as the warranty states weather proof , they do not cover waterdamage . imo iit would be risky using it in the poring rain. Garrett being the workhorse of metaldetecting for years , then releasing the apex with weather proofing might have been a big mistake . but i might be wrong.
The biggest mistake is using garrett metal detectors full stop they are terrible machines old technology in a fancy box the only decent thing they make is the pro pointer !!
Thanks for video.i had a loose connection at box .tightened all good.thanks Dawn
they work loose quite often, its always better to have a check now and then
I need a day to just chill so I am watching detecting videos today thanks for the video.
Have fun!

Excellent suggestion thanks
I learned that the hard way

Thanks for the great tips Dawn! I was told by a Garrett rep at the Isle of Sheppy rally to always switch on with the coil in the air. Also when ground balancing press the balance button with the coil in the air then balance. 😊
Thank you.
Thanks Dawn, thinking of getting one as find Maxie is not that great on the beach.
The APEX is the best on a beach it really is!
hi thanks for the info . missed you at the club dig last year due to being in hospital sadly. now i am thinking of getting one , would you recomend one . happy diggggin
Is this 1 of the best detectors. Would you suggest it for a beginner
Yes its a very good machine for a beginner, it is great on land and on beach, which not a lot are

Raining and get an Apex in simple terms...Lol you make me laugh on all your replies Sir whoever you are
Great video Dawn 🤙 Take care and stay safe
Cheers dawn some good little tips there 👍👍
Happy to help
Dawn do you prefer the maxi or the apex ? Also on the apex how long do the battery last b4 needing a charge ?
There's a plastic cover on bottom of coil does that stay or come off?
It stays on its a protector for the coil
What about the at max I just got one and want to go down to Missouri to my nieces and go relic hunting there was a battle by we're she lives and there is a old fort and a old stone wall to hunt around
Very informative have watched a couple of your video and really enjoy then so it's a sub and a like from me the Dundonain Digger
Should I sell my Simplex plus which I own all 3 different coils for and buy one of these?
I don't think you should, if I was gonna upgrade I would buy the Legend
Any issues with the APEX charging port after 2 years ?
I havent had any, and ive not heard anyone reporting that issue across social media
Which one would you choose and why?
it depends on where you want to detect
@@DiggerDawn I feel like a celebrity has replied to me lol. I went with the AT Max, and your videos have really helped me. I’m still searching for my first Indian Head penny here in the USA. Thanks for your videos!
The APEX is a wonderful detector, I'm sure you helped a lot of frustrated detectorists with your tips. Thanks Dawn. • Richard MDB•
I am sure you can use it on the Beach plus I’m sure you can go in as far as your knees with that machine to jest like my AT pro.
yeah you can you just cant submerge the control box
زیر دکل برق میشه باهاش کار کرد؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟
مرررسی
🤔🤔
I want to discriminate all metal ferrous and non ferrous I anly want to find gold how do I do it on ace apex
What you should say Dawn some people shouldnt be allowed out on their own lol
The reason switching the headphones from right to left might work is because if you're holding your detector in the left hand and the wireless receiver is on the right side of your head you could be blocking the signal. ive never had a disconnection in over 3 years with them that way :-)
Not very good, if it dosent have a better wireless range than that!
I have a tip: Raise the coil above the ground before turning the unit on❤
Dawn well ggot the the apex xx
Good luck with it :
God bless lady
some of your words i cant make out. lol
And your username is encrypted lol
WHEN I can afford any machine I would like to have an Apex as a great back up or a loaner to a friend. Nice stuff Dawn.
You wouldn't be disappointed, its a great machine it really is :-)
The only Garrett I like is the pin pointer. 😂😂
i wouldnt run the coil wire round the front of any machine as can cause a false one bleep signal, always run your coil wire round the back of stem first

If your detector is acting strange remove your coil protector and clean the coil and cover.

I wouldn't recommend banging the coil on the ground when ground balancing.
No silver video this week, sad I will miss it.
Great tips were Garrett users, if you get the chance come check us out. and got you subed in.
⚔️💪👍
You shouldn't hit the ground when you ground balance!
User error, replace user and try again.
And don't detect with steel toe boots
WTH
simplex or vanquish anyday the apex is a damp squib to little to late not waterproof no software update
Actually it does have software updates....
True, I'd never buy a Garret! Other then maybe the pinpointer 😂😂
The biggest mistake is using garrett metal detectors full stop they are terrible machines old technology in a fancy box the only decent thing they make is the pro pointer !!
Wtf
