The point of that scene and his death was, in my opinion, he was finally at peace. He, for once, didn't kill. "How many sons, brothers, husband's have you killed?" He decided to die instead of kill.

A metaphor for the future World where warfare at a distance became the norm and how taking away the club or sword and direct combat destroyed the honor in fighting and quantifying victory. Basically, it became a cheap cheat that wreaked the natural order.
I guess paris became a legend by doing what no one e!se could and killed Achilles
