    So, by the time it's finished you'll need a forklift to move it, lol. Looking forward to the completed diorama.

    That industrial tank will be a good addition to the site, maybe two next to a wall of a building.

    Looks great so far! Personally I like the idea of having the big steel mill building in the back with a smokestack leading to it. I also like the idea of having maybe 2 or 3 rail lines next to the factory to insinuate a much larger rail complex beyond the factory walls and really add a grandiose feel to the diorama. I also feel that 2-3 rail lines would add some open-ness to the diorama and prevent a cluttered appearance. Anyway, I'm so excited to see how this dio turns out.

    Andy, you have too many buildings for your diorama. My suggestion is to put the big steel building in the back. Then put the smoke stack.

    At least 1 longer track I would say. I don't see the 2 track idea as realistic. But 1 long with maybe 2 railcars or a ramp/crane?

    Put two of those "Railroad Warehouses" together, back-to-back, to make one building you can put anywhere at any angle.

    I'd put two sets of rails. Towards the rear should be a freight depot type of building, the front set of rails would have a ramp at the end of the rails for loading the tanks.

    Hello Andy, this is what I suggest, yes for Industrial Hangers, Park Wall, Freight Shed, Industrial Tank and no for Railroad Crane, Diorama-Base Airfield, Railroad Warehouse, Factory Building Need platform but with ramp for the tanks and not steps. I find that if you put too much buildings it will look crowded and you need space for the tanks. All the best and take care.

    Hi Andy, I'd say keep the full size buildings on the back. Add the half size on the right side, to counter balance the one on the left. Then it would be possible to walk around and look at the full scene from the back and front. Adding a half size on the back would just throw the balance of the scene out of kilter. From the over-all look of the scene I'd stick with one RR spur. Have fun.

  • @ezelop6988

    Well, you can make two railway tracks. Next to one to put a tank and a warehouse, in the middle you can put a crane, and next to the second to make a ramp for loading cars. Put a cistern and a platform with crates on the railway tracks, as well as a platform with cars

    Thats crazy!! Lovin this 1/35th scale is my fav!!
    Thank you !!!
    Make sure you have some minor details like tools and tiny equipment in various locations, and oil and grime stains on the floor area !
    Wow its huge lots of choices , perhaps a few tool wagons or a food mobile wagon for the factory workers

    Very interesting to see the shipment you received, hope you have room for it all! As to the additional buildings you want to add to the diorama: The Freight Shed- maybe, the rail platform- yes, the Steel Mill- no, the Industrial Hangers ( for the baseplate)- yes, Railroad Warehouse- yes, I also think there should be an additional rail line to handle traffic. Looking forward to the next vid on the diorama.

  • @tomtruesdale6901
    @tomtruesdale6901 2 роки тому

    IF you use 75% of those additional buildings that diorama will be HUGE. I think the rail platform and 4 ton crane at the rear edge with an additional rail line in front it for incoming supplies and the original rail line toward the front of the base with the outgoing tanks on it. The smokestack and indusial tank located between the builds so as to supply each building. Lots of pipes and conduit running between and around the buildings

  • @simongee8928

    I'd suggest a loading ramp for tanks or other vehicles. Would make perfect sense for this excellent diaorama.

    The Railway Warehouse, can that be added to the front of one of the big buildings, so it seems to be part of the bigger building. And if you can use that, then you maybe can have two rail tracks.
    I also think a rump up onto the rail wagon at the end of the rail line would make sense too.

  • @user-yz3lf4iv9t

    Hi Andy love the build so far looks great Andy I think you should put the rail way crane in place as many factories had these cranes for there main handling of there equipment off and on to the freight plus there would be a water tank as well for the trains and the depot use and you can uses the steel mill as there would be a side fabrication building and the industrial hangers could be used for the fire engine ambulance first aid centre, been a while since I have catches up with your videos as been in hospital due to cancer but keep on going. Love to all. Woody x

  • @chemech
    @chemech 2 роки тому +1

    2' x 4' really isn't a lot of space for trains in 1:48 scale... it gets even more crowded in 1:35. Weight and strength and stability are also going to be issues. Model railroaders tend to work with laser-cut wood or paperboard, or sheet styrene for our structures due to the need to keep weights of modules reasonable.. Dental stone or plaster is much heavier.
    There's some surveying / layout work to be done...
    First off, you should look at how the street and wall extend to the right, to see how much real estate that eats up... maybe you need to have the street end and turn off of the front of the diorama in order to shift the tracks towards the front.
    If you have the two parallel tracks - again, you probably need to bring them to the front - it would be good to put a platform between them, with the steps or a ramp to the left, and then the crane at the right end of the platform. This might require some kitbashing to pull off.
    Now, you can play with the remaining open space, and see which buildings actually fit... the general rule to keep sight lines open is lower rooflines go in front of taller buildings.
    I'll stop here - there's a lot of what-if? options, and people often mock up their prospective buildings in cardboard or foamcore and "play paper dollies" in their efforts to lay things out the way that pleases them best. Lots of fun to be had as the creativity flows!

    I like the idea of using the Steel Mill toward the back. Perfect place to co-locate the smokestack and the industrial tank as well. I think one rail line would be better especially if you decide to use the crane.

  • @jimbe01
    @jimbe01 2 роки тому +1

    Lot’s of possibilities, but I’d have to consider the size footprints of these structures vis-a-vie the actual amount of the available area. I believe you be size/area limited as to what you may want to include against what area is actually available. Maybe try physically paper placement of the “possibilities” onto the available area, but remember to include the vertices element size and effects in your considerations as well.
    Best of luck in your endeavor.

  • @docholiday1476
    @docholiday1476 2 роки тому

    Looking at actual factory layouts you should do the rail yard warehouse and multiple spurs. The factory would be an assembly area and the warehouse parts and storage. The crane should be beteeen spurs and the tank perhaps between the factory and warehouse unit. Sometimes less is more.

  • @chrismartin6375
    @chrismartin6375 2 роки тому

    I like the idea of a second rail line with either the freight house or railroad warehouse. Makes sense from a "real world" perspective. You have one spur that brings in raw materials delivered to the warehouse and a second spur for shipping our finished product. I think if you go with any of the additional "industrial" buildings you should consider doing away with the rail line altogether and just go for large industrial complex feel.

    I think the big steel building at the back right on the side personally. I would balance it out hence the height and size leaving you plenty of room to put the rail road in along with platforms possibly allowing for a loading platform for the panzers definitely what a training along with a tank but in all honesty I’m sure you’ll do a great job it looks fantastic so far! well done Andy it’s great to watch these dioramas evolve.

In my day I bought and sold collectables and had my collections and hobbies paid by others through that. In other words if you can have what YOU WANT at little or no expense to you or your family then happy building and look forward to seeing what you come up with.

    I'm enjoying this series very much. As you say, too many choices: my only comment would be that you cannot really visualise the effect of different possibilities just by placing the boxes: ideally you should build the models - not necessarily painted - and try them in different configurations, but if that's not practicable then some full sized mock-ups that you can shift around. I know that it adds to the work, but you've already put in a load of effort and resources and it's worth going the extra mile to get the best possible end result that will satisfy you.

  • @oesypum
    @oesypum 2 роки тому

    Without seeing the contents/subjects contained within the boxes you intend to use for te diorama, my suggestion would be as follows; get photos of the Factories where these were produced, and the railroad location to the factory, then seek out photos on the internet of the area, to gain a feel for what the area once looked like before the RAF and USAAF 'terraformed' it, and base your diorama somewhat loosely on a real location, observe small details, and include these where possible, permitting your imagination to hold sway, is likely to end up omitting the aforementioned details, only for you to be told, after hours of work, that such should have been included, or it was done this way, and not how you imagined it was. Just my 2 cents.

      @@ezelop6988 Yes they can but they don't. It would only be done in unusual circumstances because the wood on the rail car will be destroyed when the tank has to turn. The chance of tipping over the tank or the rail car also goes up if you load from the side. A tank factory would load from the end.
