    5. Slide the track into the bracket and secure with the wrench.
    6. Screw the new motor into the existing brackets in the ceiling using the wrench.
    7. Connect the lifting arm from the door to the track.
    8. Wire the keypad into the wall on the inside of the garage.
    9. Run the wire through a conduit and connect it to the garage door opener motor.
    10. On the outside of the garage, mount the wireless keypad using the screw gun.
    11. Mount the electric eyes about 6” from the floor on the inside of the garage.
    12. Plug the motor into an outlet and turn the power back on.
    Resources:
    Scott installed the Ryobi Ultra-Quiet Garage Door Opener (www.ryobitools.com). In the workshop, he showed some optional accessories including a fan, speaker, and extension cord that can all dock into the opener. Both the motor and accessories can be found at home centers.
    Everything else Scott used to install the garage door opener, including the pliers and the drill, are available at home centers.

      I just had to rebuild my 99 Craftsman openener this weekend. Earlier this year the plastic drive gear shredded and I just replaced that part. Last weekend the sprocket for the chain snapped off, so I bought the kit for $22 which came with a whole new driven assembly and a worm gear!

    I installed a belt drive opener 2 years ago and despise it. I have to reset the stop 3 time a year Late fall/winter, Spring, and summer else the door will bounce heavily after sitting overnight. "Bounced the tension wires off once". I have a house from the 60's with a 2 1/2 car garage and the floor is not perfectly level. Depending on the time of year, the gap can change from one side to the other. The old chain drive while it was much louder never stretched.

      @Jimddddd1981 5 років тому +16

      It’s not meant to be a battery charger for your drill. The battery is there to operate the door during a power outage. He explained that in the video. It just happens to use a Ryobi drill battery but it is not meant to be removed once it is plugged in.

      @@Jimddddd1981 Well that's a bit tight of them. They could have at least included an internal battery.

    • @kracin
      @kracin 5 років тому +11

      its more economical to have an external battery anyway, the batteries are so cheap that if something does happen to it you could replace it alot easier than a built in battery. plus the cost of doing built in batteries inside of things like that is higher than just throwing on a mass produced unit like their tool batteries. ryobi does a great job keeping their costs as low as possible to the consumers.

    • @oscarmuffin4322
      @oscarmuffin4322 5 років тому +1

      @@kracin One of those 18v Ryobi batteries costs around £70 from reputable shops over here in the UK. They could have included a built in one for probably less than £10/unit for them and double that for the consumer. It is pure greed from this company. They are preying on the fact that you know you won't be able to open your garage door should there be a power outage and you don't have the battery installed. A reasonable cause for a power outage in adverse weather such as a hurricane, storm or heavy snowfall. You know, the kind of times when people want to put their car in the garage. However, people still support these big, greedy companies for some reason. There aren't enough people on this planet like myself, people who can gaze straight through the lies and scams that these companies operate. I was driven out of my home by advertising, I was sick of seeing it, seeing what this world allows to happen. I now live 25 miles from the nearest big city which is a godsend, I haven't seen a single advert in over 16 months and am much happier. Stop supporting these companies, move away from their hunting grounds, don't buy their tat.

    • @kracin
      @kracin 5 років тому +5

      @@oscarmuffin4322 you're an idiot. Anybody can disconnect the door from the rail and operate it manually, the option to use it with the power out is not common. So "preying" on people by providing them convenience options is definitely not what this is.
      If everyone else seems crazy, you might really be the only crazy one.
      Edit , you can get ryobi compatible batteries on amazon uk for 19 euros.... so theres that too.

      It's a Ryobi, made under license by Tectonic Industries.
      However, there was a lawsuit from Chamberlain Group over patient infringement.

    2hp motor is vastly overpowered for a single garage door. 1/3 - 1/2 hp is plenty, no need to pay for more. 1/2 hp is enough for a 2 car garage door.

    Ryobi is by far one of the most innovative companies, they are afraid to try. it a shame they discontinued, this impressive garage opener, I think they should of continued improving upon the original design , would of been a best seller.

    have a unique situation, I know everyone’s is unique. But really this one is. The front of my garage sticks out 2 feet from the house. On top of that inside the garage there is a support from the house that goes through the garage that will not allow the door lifting chain rail puller to go all the way to the front above the door. Any ideas. Would like to try and do this myself. I believe would need a bar about 2 feet long from the door to the motor drive chain rail. Any ideas?

    The old door can be a lot quieter if people knew that you are supposed to lubricate the chain. You can also adjust chain length and tension in the door. Also, I am pretty sure that you can adjust the pressure reverse sensor. Besides, with Wi-Fi compatibility, someone can hack into the door and open it.

    Ryobi has reinvented the GDO. I love the huge led light.
    Hopefully they'll put a worklight on the power cord reel real (see what I did there?) soon. The tire inflater is pretty much a gimmick, but the other stuff like the fan, parking assist, speaker, and camera look very useful.

    1st thing noticed is that the guy that's doing the work, is supposed to be a industry professional.
    When hes unbolting the nuts and bolts from the mounting bracket. HE's using a cresent wrench, any tradesman or skilled diver knows to use a double ratchet, or ratchet and A boxed end wrench for proper and maximum bolts grip. Why is this guy using a crescent wrench????
