It's because Euphie's brother is around she can get away with the SAZ. The 2nd Prince is also the prime minister which carries quite a bit of weight even in areas he's not the viceroy of. And he is fully behind the plan. He realized the same thing Lelouch did. It would destroy the Black Knights completely and stablize area 11. He's the sort that doesn't need to fight to win. Very dangerous. The sweeping away speech in the beginning was in reference to Kyoto Group. Since they pretty much much figured out who the Kyoto Group was they can just peacefully annex them now with the SAZ and remove any remaining power they have by throwing support behind Euphie and Suzaku. No bombing required. The only person Euphie undercut was unfortunately her sister since they were fighting over her recent decisions. It's specifically because they were fighting she went to Schniezel instead of Cornelia. Cornelia would've said no to the SAZ of course. More because she'd believe it would put Euphie in Zero's crosshairs. Sad thing is Cornelia would've been right, just not for the reasons she thinks. This episode is one of my favorites for a couple reasons. The biggest one is I legit did not see this coming. The tropes told me Euphie would get her way. Pure hearted princesses tend to stumble into perfect solutions. But Lelouch wasn't the sort to back down. I couldn't picture him rolling over and it would be kind of lame if he did so I had no idea how this episode was gonna go. Another reason is often times cursed power in anime really isn't that cursed. A bit of pain or something in exchange for two shotting evil alien warlords sounds like a fair deal to me. But this... this was cursed. Lelouch will never be able to take this back even if he does everything right from now on. All the little escalations in his tactics have made him colder and colder but he still wasn't anywhere near ready for this. What's next, I wonder. And finally. The way this episode is composed. So many red hearings and false flags. First they suggest Zero might kill Euphie, which we know is dumb. It completely out of character for him and would make him the bad guy. It doesn't meet his criteria to accomplish his goals. Kirihara think Zero might reveal his identity to collapse the SAZ. That's more interesting but when you think a little more it doesn't make sense. He risks exposing Nunally to the royal family if he does that. Then he tells you his actual plan, which makes perfect sense for him and accomplishes his goal perfectly, then Euphie talks him out of it, the peaceful music starts playing you think okay. Everythings going to be resolved like I thought. And then the bloody geass triggers. Curve ball to the dome piece. Also to address something I forgot in the last episode. About how awkward Cornelia got when her brother complimented her. You're completely right old Royal Family of course but this seems to be more the anime brand of weirdness. Less about keeping the bloodline pure and more just being unnaturally close with your siblings. not sure why they added it. Maybe just to show that some member of the Royal Family actually get along well when the Emperor's not around.
I remember when this first came out and everyone in the forms where fighting each other over this being the worst episode. Then as time past and you rewatch things you realize things. Lelouch is a dumb teen. He maybe the smartest person in a given room b he is such a dumb teen. He has zero social skills without that mask. Without that play he is doing. And whenever he tries to tell jokes they fall harder then those bodies fell. The dude tries to be funny and is always horrible at it. Euphy is also weak and was never strong I the first place. She may have fought that geass at first but everything about her is sheltered. She thinks too protective for her own good. Thinking life works with kittens and raindows. Which how can you hate that. We all love Euphy. Maybe not as much as some people. But yeah she was weak and her older bother figured she was foolish and Cornellia saw her as harmless and someone that needs protecting. Lelouch never realized how much she loved and how much she actually tried. The king, well he just see it all as hilarious and to him his kids are all useless. Euphy could never be strong enough to fight it. As for your last paragraph they actually do state in other places that they royal family was going to work the same as they do in real life. Lelouch had he not given up the throne would have married Euphy because they where together a lot and they made a good pair. Unfortunately she grew up and wanted both Lelouch and Suzaku. Thinking she can have both her cake and eat it too. And well later, I'll save that for later. Let's just say she chooses Suzaku. But at this point she wanted both before this episode went down in infamy.
6:27 the reason why Lelouch could geass himself with reflection because it can, he already told some of his geass specs in episode 5. His geass wont work through camera and television, must direct eye contact or reflection
Be careful what you wish for. Back in Episode 12 Madison said I don't want them to kill Suzaku but just rock his world. Well the show heard her and granted that wish. Now Suzaku's entire world has just been rocked hard to the core! Laughing like the Emperor Hahahahahahahaha!
Great comparison! Like, the floor beneath my feet dropped so suddenly and it reminded me of tower of terror @ Disney. My stomach was just IN my throat all of a sudden
Great reaction guys. Good job on this reaction series. I don't know what's going on but even though I've watched every single one of your code geass reactions you don't appear on the first page for me when I search code geass reaction, and you guys are very far down below much older videos and other channels like boldcast (the guy from that channel annoys me so much) that I don't even watch.
The last two episodes which may have felt a little more boring was just the quiet pause as the rollercoaster was ascending to the top. In this episode the coaster suddenly drops and the bottom feels pulled out from under you.
this episode gets lots of hate for the dumbest reasons people hate that euphy fights the geass for a few seconds. and Corban ask last ep what's the point for all the lovey dove stuff they were adding this is why so they can kick us in the feels.
You should make a patreon and post full reactions there, also that's why the romantic stuff with euphy was essential it sets the stage for the rest of the story
we've thought about doing a patreon cos - to your point - we do watch the WHOLE show. But we also don't want to inundate people with things they don't want, you know? We enjoy this process and don't want to seem like we're money hungry or anything like that. We figure y'all will let us know if/when you want us to have a patreon 💛

Euphy with machine gun = Terminator Euphy = Euphy-nator! LOL
The Euphynator was such an iconic image back in the day, this twist hit like a truck lol

😵💫😵💫😭😭
One of the most batshit insane episodes I've seen. Like bruh that did not just happen
This was like Code Geass Red Wedding when I first saw it!
Great comparison! Like, the floor beneath my feet dropped so suddenly and it reminded me of tower of terror @ Disney. My stomach was just IN my throat all of a sudden
This shows the cruelty and inhumanity of Geass
And here we go! This is where everything begins.
And this is the episode where everything went downhill... for lelouch and suzaku...

We're a small channel so it's possible that we're simply deprioritized over higher volume channels
I really wish you were going to react to the 2nd season because it is one complete story.
Nothing is set in stone ;)
@@AnimeDateNighthope you do watch Season 2! Everything is a wild ride from here onwards
@@AnimeDateNight If you're not going to watch the whole series, what's the point?
@@Adanu191they said they were its just that they don't know if they're gonna post the reaction
@@cesarrangel546 A bit counterproductive for a reaction channel. Makes me think they're unreliable for other series too.

This episode made me feel so uncomfortable while watching it. I really just wanted to turn off the episode or skip it.
