  • This is a the first real test footage of the Three Dog reverse trike go kart built from scratch. The only components that were sourced are the Harbor Freight 6.5HP 200cc motor, the wheels, and front spindles. Everything else was designed, engineered, and fabricated by D. Soetenga. This reverse trike was built for a $350.00 budget and it only weighs 80lbs total with a 34lbs motor. After these test runs some modifcations will be made to the design.

who in his right mind welds beside his bike. First, the weldsparks can damage your bike, second the bike has a gasoline vent that went benzene fumes that can ignite. i am not trolling you, just point some things out. But cool project thou. Good luck...

Bro, that is cool, very nice work. I think the sweetest thing about the video was that you performed your test drive in your bedroom slippers. Now that it confidense! I've got a pair just like that, going forward, I'll be wear'em when I do my road tests. Errrr, perhaps with Nomex socks though..... later

Go for bigger wheels. 20" BMX (real, not kids bmx) on 14mm axles will be strong enough. Then the centre of gravity will be below the axle and be much more stable.

    Probably is stronger,
    But not Moped class,
And not street legal in most states.
and I would stake a good wage that
    the grayhound dosnt get 120mpg.

I guess it's just because it's cheaper. Also, having two rear wheels would have implied the need of a diferential and a suspension system.

You have a high center of gravity issue. Your main frame appears to be to weak for the load you are carrying. It is know wounder the trike is wanting to flip even in a low speed turn. Even when you try to lean into a turn you have no way for the trike to lean with you. As you stated the engine weighs 38 lbs and is mounted very high above the trikes center of gravity. One way to help your being able to lean into a curve and have the trike lean with you would be to put a single point of connection wear the main frame mates with the front forks. This would allow the front wheel assembly to stay flat on the ground while going through a sharp turn and the rider and engine assembly including the back wheel to pivot while going through a curve. Just some quick ideas which might help you to stay upright while riding this trike.
