Just bought the game and never played AC before, you’ve already been a great help! Belated congratulations to your son!! Thank you for the great content!
Thanks for this tutorial! The in game tutorial wasn't great and I was just bumbling through the naval combat. Your tutorial cleared everything up for me :)
4:57 That is one of the most crazy things I have ever heard someone say. The naval combat might make the game look more impressive, and it is appropriate for this setting, but it's easily one of the most unpleasant and complained about things the game series ever introduced. That is however the developer's fault, as they are skimpy with introductions and this game is full of awkwardness in controls and design. It was only after the Witcher 3 that they even came up with decent fighting controls.
Playing though Black Flag right now and needing help with the naval combat. Thanks very much for this very informative guide!! Also I'm interested in possibly getting Ubisoft's upcoming Skull and Bones game in February 2024 which of course is only naval combat. I think very similar to Black Flag but hopefully updated and improved etc. If you put out any Skull and Bones vids I'll be interested in checking them out. 👍
At first, I hated the naval combat, then as I got loads of resources for fighting and shit. I got so much income for the naval combat and I upgraded my ship fully, I loved naval combat then. I beat all the legendary ships and fought everything in sight, high level man o' wars, pirate hunters etc. Then, I conquered all the naval forts and beat all the naval contracts in a half hour. Now, it's my favorite feature in all of Assassin's Creed aside from assassin guilds in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
Ya .. thanx for posting this. I've learned some great tips and insight from watching this video! I''ve only been playing AC4 Black Flag for a couple of days ... and my naval battle tactics ... which are shoot and pray and run away ... lol! I pretty much suck at it. But getting better. Now I know what to strive for ... LOL
Only recently started playing this and getting my butt kicked routinely. Very useful guide. I had no idea there were two different attacks for the front and sides or that I could manually user the swivel guns! So that did learn me (as they say around these parts).
This game is some what of a joke at times. A controls guide doesn't even exist in the game, and half of them don't even make sense. How am I supposed to know that there's a different weapon between aiming and shooting, and just pressing rt to shoot?
Great video. Good tutorial I think it would help out a lot of people. It is super clear. And great tips. Btw you must be proud on your sons driving skills :-)
This was really helpful, thank you. Maybe I'm Nautically challenged but could someone explain the compass, is it pointing to North or showing wind direction, or is the color changing to represent favorable wind? Also, what is the difference between Heavy Shot and Round shot? Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial. How lame is it that one has to look at a tutorial outside the game, given how immersion-breaking all the messages, infos, etc. are in the game? The game's interface is so much in your face and yet they don't manage to properly explain all the weapon options. I played AC Odyssey, had zero issues with how to perform naval combat, and had a ton of fun. The controls in Black Flag are unnecessarily complicated and clunky.
U can get the cracked version, it's free no virus but u can't play multiplayer or connect to your Uplay, just go to google and search Assassins creed ocean of games. There's a installation video there.
The fact that you captured every mechanic in this one battle is honestly super impressive
Cheers! i did it deliberately with the commentary in mind :)
Yeah, surprising how neat this video is. Just what I was looking for.

This is the Gettysburg Address of video game tutorials. The first couple minutes are pure brilliance. Thank you.

thanks, I was going to uninstall AC:BF but now I can enjoy it.
did you finish it?
its so nice for ubisoft not tell you anything about the controls and just throw you into the cage with a tiger.
Congrats to your son! And thank you for the great video
Awesome. All the other tutorials are rubbish. You've explained everything swiftly and with perfect execution. Thanks for your big brain
Well thank you! glad it helped!

That was some good melee combat at the end there.

You can use leather sails to get black sails, but I think it needs a plan.
